  • Jox - that's an amazing scan, really clear. (loving the labels hahaha)

Glad everyone is still growing well and keeping sticky beans.
Shame about those with sickness, just goes to show how different all our pregnancies can be.

Still plodding along here, nausea not shifting but lots of techniques to keep it fairly well controlled. Had my booking in appointment last week with the most useless of midwives but luckily she isn't my nominated/local midwife (phew!). OH and I did have a laugh about it though.

Will be telling the last of our family members at the weekend so we no longer have to keep any secrets. Looking forward to that.

We're off on holiday next week - a bit worried about what I'll be able to eat - but will find out when I get there. Going self catering so hopefully there'll be a well stocked min mart nearby.

Hope everyone is well and welcome to all the newbies (who seem to be pushing the rest of us up that list very quickly)

urgh bloody veins! I still have the bruises from when they took my bloods last monday!
Took 2 phlebotomists to find a vein. Then she only just about got enough to fill all the vials. Do you have to go to see phlebotomy now? They should be better.
They threatened to send me away but they managed it on the 3rd try.

One of the things I hadn't been told is to drink about 2 litres of water an hour or so before your appointment. Don't know how I'd hold that in long enough though!:rotfl:

Yes, I'm off to the phlebotomists in a mo. I really hope they don't take 3 goes - I get lightheaded with needles. I think the problem on saturday was that my appt was midday and, after an hour and a half booking in appt, I was hungry and thirsty!

This time I'm staying well hydrated and crossing my fingers.

    Jox: Lovely pic :)

Jenni: Paracetamol are ok. But you mustn't take aspirin or ibruprofen (unless under doctor's orders). I had headaches with my first pregnancy. It's rotten :( I found they were worse when I was tired, so maybe you need a bit more rest?

Thanks everyone :) It's funny the ultrasound lady felt the need to write "baby" on the scan, just incase I wasn't sure xx

She dated me as 13+5 so I better go to the other thread but will follow all of your progress til I see u there :)

    Lovely scan pic jox!

Faith I'm thinking of you hopefully it's nothing xx

Got my sickness tablets prescription extended todat, last night there was a small amount of blood in my sick I think I must have irritated my throat so I have decided I need to take each & every tablet or I'm going to end up very ill.

I probably should make a booking in appt with the mid wife but just having the strength to make telephone calls about our holiday insurance is all I can deal with right now.

Yesterday I went upstairs, brushed my teeth & washed my face then had to lie down & didn't wake up for 3 hours. I'm just about to have another nap now, it's like I get a wave of tiredness that is really powerful.

Jennifer you can definitely take paracetamol or even calpol if you can't face swallowing tablets.

Hope you're ok sijou. It really is weird how it affects us all so differently!

Well I just got off the phone to the Dr as I have woken up and found some (TMI) brown discharge again on TP. It's happened on and off over the last few days (one day none at all) but had LOTS of tears. He has told me as I have no pains and this used to happen before my P anyway it sounds like it should be fine (he was very nice on the phone and reassuring as he could be). Im still in tears though...partners away till Friday and I am still worrying. Have my actual Drs appointment on Thursday, hoping I can last till at least then and can get some bloods done etc.

Sorry to be such a downer girls :(

    6 weeks today

*sneaking in from the later thread*

I know it's much easier to say than do, but please try not to worry. Lots and lots of us experienced brown spotting on the thread before and the 6 week mark seems to be a bit of a peak time for it. I had left-sided pain at 6 weeks and went to EPU for a scan, all well but I had to have an internal (sorry if TMI) which then triggered brown spotting / discharge for nearly 2 weeks. The doc told me not to worry and it would just be old blood or possibly from my cervix being irritated, but I went for a private scan at 8 weeks as I'm a chronic worrier... all well again :o Apparently up to 1 in 4 early pregnancies will have some sort of bleeding or discharge so it's not uncommon and doesn't necessarily mean that there's anything bad happening.

Having said all that, if it gets heavy or clotty, turns bright red or you start experiencing cramps or pain as well then get down to A&E/EPU as soon as you can, regardless of how reassuring the GP is - they should be able to offer you a scan in order to make sure it's nothing to worry about. I hope the scary symptoms stop soon and you have a relaxing and healthy pregnancy from now on. Early pregnancy is such a stressful and worrying time, but it does get (slightly ;)) better, I promise :grouphug:

    20+3

ETA: Claire, I hope you start to feel better very soon. I had hyperemesis up to around 16 weeks and still have the daily retching/vomiting cycle to deal with (sorry if TMI). I can't remember if these are the first tablets you've tried, but if they are then it might be worth asking to swap as it sounds as though you're really suffering atm. I tried 3 different meds as well as sea bands, etc and the only thing that worked for me in the end was going in for an IM cyclizine then taking them 3x orally per day. I know it's not the same for everyone, but if your throat is that irritated then it may be worth trying something different? Also, are they dipping your urine regularly? If you're really tired and struggling to keep anything down then it may be worth getting a dip test just to check the ketone level :grouphug:
  • Thank you for your kind words, especially Amyloofoo for taking the time to pop back into this thread. I really needed to read that as google is full of scary stories! It pretty much stopped again after a few hours of very light spotting. I will keep an eye on it though and realise what will be will be, just wish I was one of those with a easy pregnancy (like my SIL who is due any day now).

Its been on and off for a few days, first time after straining to get up off a very big bed (don't ask!) and then nothing yesterday or the day before but had quite abit first thing then pretty much nothing again. Going to try and relax, thanks girls, you truely are lovely people :) x
  • Lovely scan pic Jox :T

faith, I've got everything crossed for you and I'm glad to hear it's getting better.

jenni_fer I've suffered major headaches this pregnancy and Dr said the only things I could have were paracetamol, plenty of fluids and rest. I hope you feel better by now.

According to DH I've been  today. I do feel quite short tempered but I thought it was just because I was tired. At least I'm not crying over everything today!!
