Katy my mw said to get some multi vitamins as well as folic acid, so I'm going to get some combined.

Laura I used the calculator on this website to do my edd, you can do it based on lmp or ovulation date.

Missmoney glad to hear you're scan went well, and exciting that you get to do it all again next week!

Afm..... Morning sickness seems to be all day sickness!! Felt like carp this morning so had a day off sick from work. Hopefully it won't be too bad tomorrow, got far too much to get done!!
    Anyone tried sickness bands?

I currently take the combined Pregnacare vitamins - they are a bit of a nightmare to swallow as they are MASSIVE but they're supposed to be the best so I've persevered!!!

Glad its not just me who've had to take time off work with this bloody sickness - I'm not sure about those sea bands - I really want to try them, but theyre hardly discreet enough for me to be able to wear them in work so not sure whether I want to buy them as just dont think I'll get the use out of them.

Sickness feeling loads better today but thought I'd pay a visit to the doc anyway. She gave me a prescription for something to stop the nausea but said at the same time 'we dont really like giving this out' which didnt inspire me to want to take them, so dont think I'll be taking the prescription to the chemist now. She also asked me to give a sample to check for dehydration - sorry for TMI but managed to squeeze out the tiniest drop of wee, which looked pretty dark to me, so looks like I might actually be dehydrated after my vomiting marathon yesterday. Trying to get loads of fluids in today so hopefully am improving - really do not want to end up on a drip in hospital, thanks very much.

She offered to sign me off work for a few days (she said we could just say it was gastroenteritis!) and I stupidly refused. What was I thinking - now that I'm home I'm thinking it would have been nice to have a couple more days off!! I dont get paid for the first 3 days off though, could really do with getting back to normal tomorrow!!

I admire you Squirrel for not taking the tablets given that the doc wasn't keen. Is the drinking liquids helping? Were there any things which helped you through, or to avoid the nausea?

Claire how are you feeling today? That apple juice incident sounds gross.

1trainer1 glad you have booked your scan, hope you feel better soon.

faith/faith I used to get you two muddled on the TTC thread!

Lannie hope they don''t click on just yet! I'm glad I'm not at work - my colleagues would definitely guess by the amount of fruit I'm eating - I hate it!

laura is there anyone you can contact other than GP e.g. mw who might be a bit more clued up? Sorry he wasn't helpful. Also, I had a really clear scan at 8+3 so definitely worth it.

HungryKitty hope the scan went well!

Welcome katy x I'm taking pregnancare as my MW said to take Vit D as well as folic acid.

Welcome jenny. My DH earns more than me but we are thinking of him condensing his hours into a 4 day week so he gets to do one day with the little one and I can pick up some supply work (teacher) to keep my brain in gear! I don't think anyone can ever afford a baby, I'm sure you'll work it out.

faith it might just be making it worse then, with relaxed muscles etc. I'm not at work thank goodness, just have a puppy which I'm sure is worse than a toddler. 5am wake up this morning!

Jox my midwife advised me to make an appt with my GP so they could listen to my heart and lungs. I thought she was mental, I'm not going to waste an appt for that!! Glad to hear it's not just mine. Is there anyone you can chase re scan? Are you having NT screening?

squ1rrel glad you are feeling better today. Hope you don't need the meds x

Hmmm, good point squirrel. I wonder if you can wear them round your ankle?! I'm not so good with giant pills, so on the look out for something smaller!

Laura I'm not sure how the doctor could date you either then. Unless im wrong ladies?? Must be frustrating!

The conversation went along the lines of 'so you came off the pill in April...that'd be 14 weeks, I'm pretty sure you're not 14 weeks so I'll put down 3 weeks and we'll find out more later' Cue me leaving slightly bemused!

Fortunately one of my best friends is a GP and I'm seeing her tomorrow. I'm going to pick her brains and then perhaps contact the midwife next week.

Thanks for all your help ladies! Sorry you're suffering squirrel and sjlou :(
  • What can I say - scan experience was AMAZING. BabyKitty was wriggling about all over the place, flipping over onto its stomach & waving its little arms and legs around. The sense of relief is brilliant, although I was trying to stay positive the paranoia is hard to control as I'm sure you all well know!

I've got some pics so I'll scan them tomorrow and attempt to upload one.

Going to have to restrain myself from shoving the photos in random peoples faces at work tomorrow! :rotfl:

hello all and welcome to the newbies - congratulations.

Had my booking in appointment today, not a great start as MW was 20 mins late and I was left in my local doctors surgery near enough on my own while the staff went out for lunch, ahh well.

MW thinks im a good few days / maybe a week ahead due to me having a short cycle etc but can only confirm with the scan, she did try and get an appointment over the phone for me but someone on the other end was sticking to the rules off 'a letter will be sent out within a week' - grrrrr, MW's should have more power, I want my 12 week scan!!!!!

I am still tired, been in bed around 7pm each night this week, I am hoping to make it to 9pm tonight :rotfl:As long as I have no sickness I am happy :D

I am also the main earner in our household but we will manage somehow. When I go back, I think I will go back to 3 days a week to make DH the main earner but as we are both on low incomes anyway, I am hoping we should get a little help with tax credits and child care etc.

MrsBunny - 10+6 (by my dates!)

ps - can not stop looking at my private scan pictures - I paid GBP50 for a 10 min early reassurance scan in Merseyside.
Proud mummy to an amazing 8 year old!

Thanks Faith! It's lovely seeing some familiar names on here. Glad you enjoyed your break away.

    Goodluck with any scans today!

Has anyone else been suffering a sore back? Mine mostly aches a lot when I first wake up, like I have slept funny but calms down during the day. Not sure if its a pregnancy symptom or not as I'm only 5 + 1. Found out Google is definetely not my friend in the process though!

Yes but think its from bending over the toilet 24/7!

Well the drs appointment was a waste of time! As I mentioned before, I don't have a last period to go from as I've not had one since coming off my pill at the end of April. Did a clear blue first thing which said 3+ so was thinking he'd put me down as at least 5 weeks, maybe 6 if I was lucky. He's put 3 weeks on my notes which I'm a bit gutted about really as it feels like I'll be having to wait for so long.

Also I have to wait and see if I am 'accepted' by my chosen hospital as they only take a certain number of people from my area.

So lots of waiting then. In my head I was thinking my scan would be the last week of September but I think it'll be mid-October now which just seems so far off (rationally I know it's only two weeks but still!). On top of it all I just feel really emotional and want to cry...think it'll be a long day!

You definitely won't be 3 weeks you wouldn't even have a positive test then!

If digi says 3+ you'll be at least 5 weeks.

    Becca yes it was horrible.

Squirrel what tablets do you have? I have cyclizine & I've researched it & the tablets are safe & been used for years. In the US & Canada they give women tablets all the time to help with sickness for some reason drs can be funny about it here but from what I've read getting dehydrated can be dangerous so you should take them if you aren't well.

I only took one yesterday, then spent almost the entire day puking & barely out of bed, so today I've taken 2 & will take one later & so far I've only been sick once.

We're supposed to go on holiday on Saturday but think we're going to cancel it though I just feel so rough. So going to call thr travel insurance ppl tomorrow & see if bad morning sickness would allow us to get our money back or not.

Welcome Katy and Jenny! My midwife recommends Pregnacare vitamins which is lucky as that's what I'd been taking anyway!

HungryKitty and msmoneypennyplease so glad your scans went well.

Faith I am definitely being troubled by back pain and I did whilst pregnant with my other two. I've been told it's common because the liagaments are soft.

laurabllue sorry you had such a rubbish response from the doctor, you are obviously at least 5 weeks.

AFM, I'm just constantly exhausted and getting a lot of headaches. Sickness seems to have subsided a lot recently.
