Hi, Well I got my BFP today and went to book a doctors appointment but they can't see me for 2 weeks with my normal doctor. Do you think thats too long? x
My doc didn't do much; acted a bit like 'seriously, you made an appointment to tell me that? now go away and let me tend to my proper patients'. Don't think you particularly need your usual doc if you'd like to speed it up. All my doc did was, refer to midwife, gave me an FW8 form (gives you prescription fee exemptions so worth asking for if doc isn't forthcoming with), and just checked with me the obvious do's and dont's. Lastly, was asked for LMP so that they can plug it into a programme which will in turn generate an estimated due date. For me it wouldn't have been a problem to have waited a couple of weeks, but if you'd like it sooner it's likely to be basic stuff so probably any GP could do it just as well.0 -
I should have mentioned I have high blood pressure controlled by medication and acid reflux, again controlled by medication.
I'm a bit of a worrier0 -
I made an appointment to see the nurse at my GP surgery, she logged all the details and asked the GP come in at the end to listen to my heart and lungs for some reason!
I'm hoping I get a letter with scan date soon, the suspense is killing me!
12+2 (but don't want to leave this thread until I see the scan!)
I also earn much more than OH but would love to be SAHM. My brother spends the most time with his little boy as his wife works more than him and he and his little boy are so close which is great, but I want to be that close to my child!
Anyway...will worry about that after the scan0 -
My GP did need to see me to fill out an electronic form with health related info that I assume got sent to the midwife-service for my area. I got my scan date and booking in appt through the post as a result. MyGP also filled out the prescription fee exemption card.
Also, for my first pregnancy (this is my second), they needed to know which hospital I wanted to go to asap. Although that may be because I was due in Sept which is a notoriously busy time of year.
So... I think the value of the initial GP appt varies by area.Mortgage when started: £330,995

I must say its frustrating how much is varies by area and how little information there is as to what you're meant to do.
Kynthia, Brentwood would be ideal so I'll check out ultrababy. I didn't get any midwife details, all he said was that they aren't based at the doctors. He didn't give me a number or anything so I assume they'll be intouch with me. I was put off asking questions as I felt like I was wasting his time. At least I filled in the prescription exemption form. He didn't even give me an EDD (granted I'm pretty sure his dates would have been wrong but a date would have been nice to have!).0 -
Laura - maybe ask the surgery receptionist for the midwife centre contact details or google your district to see if you can find them. I found a self referral mobile number for my health district.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0

http://www.pregnology.com/due-date.phpthe problem I had was that I came off my pill at the end of April and had my withdrawal bleed but I haven't actually had a proper period and so don't really have an idea of when I ovulated. I guess I won't get a date till I have a scan, either a private one or the 12-week.

Sickness feeling loads better today but thought I'd pay a visit to the doc anyway. She gave me a prescription for something to stop the nausea but said at the same time 'we dont really like giving this out' which didnt inspire me to want to take them, so dont think I'll be taking the prescription to the chemist now. She also asked me to give a sample to check for dehydration - sorry for TMI but managed to squeeze out the tiniest drop of wee, which looked pretty dark to me, so looks like I might actually be dehydrated after my vomiting marathon yesterday. Trying to get loads of fluids in today so hopefully am improving - really do not want to end up on a drip in hospital, thanks very much.
She offered to sign me off work for a few days (she said we could just say it was gastroenteritis!) and I stupidly refused. What was I thinking - now that I'm home I'm thinking it would have been nice to have a couple more days off!! I dont get paid for the first 3 days off though, could really do with getting back to normal tomorrow!!0
