Guys - I know its been said a heart beat can be picked up from 6 weeks from the scan but what about the little machine they use?
I don't know why but me and my OH have a bad feeling
Maybe were just worring but I was speaking to my OH yday about when he is going to tell his Mum and he told me that he wants to wait till the scan just to make sure everything is ok....I had no idea he felt that way as I have been worried sick as well....
Never had a miscarriage and we told everyone when I was about 6 weeks last time so I don't know where this is coming from but were both crossing fingers....
I rang my midwife to book an appointment and shes going to ring me on Monday, most likey with an appointment for the following Monday so I'll be about 10 weeks will they be able to pick up a heart beat then?
Thing is. We are moving this sataday...my morning sickness is actally improved loads but moment I do anything it starts up! :rotfl: So god knows how sat is going to go it will probally come out the bag but I suppose another 'not feeling to good' day might work... but my OH's whole family is helping.
The fact my MS has improved is something else that makes me worry...as much as I hate it it does make you feel that everything is ok with the baby.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
midwives don't generally use the doppler until 16 weeks because it can be hard to find.
On a scan the heartbeat can be seen from around 6weeks. My midwife didn't use the doppler until I was gone 20 weeks.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Congrats to those with good scans today. I took the OH to the scan shop, yes I admit I am a scan addict! Anyway speck's still there (although not really a speck anymore but a big blob with arms and legs - eek!) and was good for OH to see. Its grown to 27mm now and has a heartbeat of 173 which is normal. I've promised no more scans now until the sexing scan at 16 weeks (except for the NHS one obv). Otherwise I'll end up spending a fortune. Besides I am beginning to tentatively hope I am out of the very risky period (touches wood frantically).
Discovered the solution to the clothes dilemma - tunics! Found some lovely ones in Debenhams Mantaray, and 20% off too so splashed out. Think it'll be tunics and leggings for a looong time in my world now.
Got my boobs measured too, she said I've gone up from a B cup to an E Cup. This is in just over a month - OMG. I really can't take it if they get any bigger, even the maternity bras I was wearing to the end with my last baby are now pathetically small. She said its more common for them to get a lot bigger in second pregnancies though.
Hope ladies on here are not suffering too much with ms or tiredness0 -
I'll have to try the hairband trick, thanks! Can't believe how bloated I am. OH thinks my boobs are bigger too, but I reckon its just wishful thinking on his part!
Really struggling with tiredness this week, but luckily the nausea isn't too bad.0 -
It is possible to pick up the hb on a doppler from about 9 weeks but baby is very tiny so it can be very hard to find. Midwives tend to not bother trying until 16 weeks because if it proves difficult to find they end up sending mums for emergency scans and the hospitals don't approve.
My boobs went from a D to GG with my 2 year old!!! .. They were eaten to a DD by the 2 littlies and are threatening to grow again now.. naughty boobies!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Hi guys and congrats to those who have had scans today! I had an early scan this evening as the doc was worried about the cramps I've been having on one side. All good, teeny blob with a fast heartbeat dated 8 weeks which is a bit behind my dates but I'm taking it as a good sign. Good luck to anyone else having scans in the next few days0
