Welcome flower! I went to the gp early on and was referred to the midwife, they're quite busy around my way so it's a bit of a wait. Might be worth seeing how it works near you?
I've just had my booking in appointment and seen the obstetrician, who told me that nuchal fold screening needs to be done by 11w6d, so booked my scan for 11w. I was sure that wasn't right, but he insisted it was, so I asked the midwife who said it was between 11w2d and 13w6d, so had to change my scan date. I'm a little put out that he'd get something so simple wrong... Oh and he asked me if I'd thought about delivery options - I'm only 7w !!!!!!! I told him that I'd like a water birth surrounded by candles and soft music playing - he looked uncomfortable and said that was unlikely as I'm high risk, with diabetes, previous emergency c-section, etc etc. I just smiled sweetly and told him that in that case I'd have an elective c-section thanks.
Now just counting down the next 5 weeks to the scan now... Although I'm pretty sure that it'll come back as high risk as I'm old (so automatically 1/350), overweight, have diabetes, etc so not sure why I'm bothering!
Sorry, what a moaning post!0 -

Feeling v rubbish today, my morning sickness is getting worse - I'm 12 weeks today and been clinging onto some false hope that I'd wake up this morning and would feel fine and not be tired or nausea - fat chance lol!
Scan tomorrow, getting nervous/excited now! It's in the morning thankfully, don't think I'd manage to wait all day!
I'm feeling the sameI'm violently sick every morning without fail, then force myself to eat which seems to stop the sickness although the nausea is constant, plus I am so exhausted been trying to sleep when DS has his nap during the day but my mum came for a visit today so missed my sleep, hopefully I cope with work tonight.
My scan is tomorrow to very anxious about it but also very excited :T
Take care all who need it, welcome flowerI think I remember you from the last time we were in here my LO is 17 months too

Thanks all!
One more thing, then I'll stop ranting
I've told 2 people (apart from OH) about this pregnancy, one was HR just in case an issue was raised about my numerous medical appointments and the other was an acupuncturist who I had been going to for fertility acupuncture (as she needed to know as I'd need slightly different treatment, I guess).
Both of them put a bit of a downer on it - they acted really happy for me, but then HR went on to tell me about her miscarriages (up to 18 weeks) and acupuncturist told me that I really should pay for a private scan at around 9 weeks as things usually go wrong at the 6 or 8 week points and this would give me peace of mind. Now I may or may not pay for an extra scan (although the MSE in me says that if things are going to go wrong they will, no matter how many scans I have...) but I just felt quite deflated by both conversations.
I'm really looking forward to the 12 week scan so that I can tell people and they'll be happy for me without the scare-stories!0 -
Just ignore them Betty just think if something was going to go wrong then it's going to go wrong whether you pay for a scan at 9 weeks or wait 3 more weeks til your 12 week scan. Some people just always look at the negatives that's just there outlook on things when you start telling people properly you will find that most people are just happy for you

Things can go wrong at any point but if you focus on that you will go insane. No point worrying until you have to.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Good luck Bella and Bride2B for your scans tomorrow :-)
Betty that sounds tough, they might have just been trying to be genuinely helpful or share things that were important to them without meaning to worry you. I know I find it really hard to share my history with people because its not all happy endings and rainbows and sunshine but it does mean that not many people, even close friends know. If you wanted another perspective on it, I think it was brave of the HR lady to tell you her story and maybe it helped her?0
