Morning all!
Congratulations on the driving test and the scan MincePieMonster!
Lovely scan pic Lily, hope ours are all that clear! :-)
Amy - hope you feel much better very soon.
Good Luck for your scan Optimistic Mummy
My booking in appt was running 20 mins late, and lasted forever, but the MW was lovely. I kind of started spilling my heart out to her a bit :-s . I hadn't realised that they wanted us to have picked the hospital by then, we have a choice of 3 here... I'm seriously considering a home birth...does that make me mad?
As for EDD, no idea yet, we've been NTNP for a while, and I have completely lost track (my late aunt was destroyed by her desire for a child, and I also saw the heartache some colleagues went through when TTC a few years ago, so I think I have been too scared to ever focus my own energies on it if that makes sense (in case it didn't happen for me either)).
I'd been having pains that I thought were TOM for a week when I woke up last Fri, and just did a cheapie test that we'd had in forever. When that went positive quickly, I ordered some Clearblue with CI's for delivery in Saturday. They said 3+, and we had been thinking that I'm about 8 wks, so that would figure. Am waiting for a dating scan appt ATM, and am going to see the MW again on Weds as she couldn't get any blood out of me (really dehydrated).
Had been feeling fine, but just had a nasty pang of morning sickness, which was painful as I haven't eaten yet ( but I guess reassuring).
Sorry, just realised I've rambled on!0 -
Good luck to all those on scans today! :j
Had my quota on garlic yesterday and am trying to lay off it.....

No, it doesn't make you mad, but if this is your first baby I don't think it's generally recommended. You also need to consider things like how far away the nearest maternity unit it. What did your m/w say?
Can you remember when your last period was, or is that why you have no idea about EDD? If you like, I will put your down as the list as though you were 8 weeks
Good luck today Lippy, you'll be great14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -

!
No - unless I am mad too!!!:D (quite possibly!)
I am planning on a homebirth and its my first (and I am 15 miles from my nearest hospital) - although I know the reality is that I might not get exactly what I would like if anything goes pear shaped! I didn't buy my pool until 37 weeks just incase. You can always change your mind at the last moment (I chose a hospital 25 miles away but again you can always change this too!) and if my homebirth goes to plan - I will get 2 dedicated midwives - whereas in hospital I might have to fight to get 1!
If you want a homebirth - keep an open mind about the possibility that it might not happen (I am very much aware that I could be taken in - or even choose to go in!) and have a back up plan just incase. My main reason for having a homebirth is that I will hopefully feel much calmer at home and have my home comforts.
Good luck on whatever you choose!

Lily, cannot remember last period, that's why I have said no clue, thanks for checking though :-)
I had heard about the hb not being recommended, but my MW seemed fine with it, very positive actually, she says that they do a lot of them in this area ( and we're not far from the hospital)...we'll see how it goes, the house isn't huge and I have a lot if changes to make, so I may change my mind yet.
Thanks IHDida, will bear that in mind too :-)0 -
How did the scans go Lippy and Optimistic?14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130

Hope lippy and optimistic did well in their scans
Had first appointment with midwife and she was lovely, really understanding when I started crying when she asked about the last pregnancy and put my feelings really well, said it was like you feel like you can't breathe and that's definitely it
got to ring for my booking in appointment and she said I'll be under a consultant due to pcos and metformin taking so that makes me feel extra taken care of
Oh and she said about home birth and I said definitely not, couldn't be doing with all the cleaning lol xLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

The scan was amazing :j:j:j:j Can't stop smiling
I was told everything looked normal, no cause for concern. Nearly 5cm long which is a healthy size. He could see the heartbeat which was good. We even got to see the little bean jump a few times. Very active in there which was really nice. EDD is now 22/12/13.
It would have been great if we could pay for a video of the scan but I will settle with the lovely pictures we got
So pleased it went well and everything looks good. Really taken a great weight off my mind.
