Back to the GP today to change meds and let them know that my hip appears to be helpfully jumping out of its socket... I have hypermobility and was warned I may be prone to issues with my hips and joints but I thought they meant at 30 weeks, not 10!

Hope everyone's well, your scan pic is gorgeous Lily - I love how clear the little toes are!

Birdie - Hi, its so good to see you over here. Can't believe how quickly you got to see the midwife. My first appointment isn't until tomorrow.

I think I was just very lucky with timing, by the sounds of it the midwife only has clinics on certain mornings and I happened to catch the only spare appointment when I booked! :)

Eeek! This is a worry of mine too, I'm currently seeing a physio about my joints as they're too flexible and I have to build up muscle to keep my knees and hips in line; scared of what pregnancy will do to them, I really don't want to end up on crutches! :o

My OH has turned into the biggest fusser-over-er ever, I came home last night to find the fridge full of salmon as he read that I need to eat fish 3 times a week, he's bought me little packets of buttons so I can regulate my chocolate/caffiene intake and he's made a 'house rule' that I'm to do at least 20 minutes of gentle exercise a day! :)

I'm don't think I'm going to carry on playing badminton though. :( I normally play twice a week on a lunchtime with some people from work and I played yesterday (after Googling a lot and reading that it should be fine) but I just didn't feel comfortable playing, I was so (possibly irrationally!) scared of pushing myself too hard (no stretching, jumping, lunging etc) and as a result played terribly. :p Going to have to come up with an excuse as to why I can't play for the forseeable future. :o

Birdie, A friend of mine ran the London marathon when she was 6 months pregnant and loved it. She was obviously very fit and had done a lot of training but there's no reason why people have to stop doing the things they enjoy!

I can understand why you would be (overly) cautious with things though and it is better not to worry yourself. Just bear in mind that it is far worse for us and baby to get fat during pregnancy than it is to exercise every day.

Also, your OH sounds like a right little sweetheart!

See, I *know* that this is the case and I should just carry on as normal but it's taken so long to get PG I'm now being a crazy lady and panicking that if I stretch too far or something else silly I'll lose my little bean. :o

As it is, I'm going to be walking every day (at least when it's sunny!) and/or going on the exercise bike so I don't plan on sitting around getting fat, OH won't allow that! :o

My OH is a sweetheart but I do fear he'll become very militant about everything I do because it may not be best for baby! :p

Birdie, blame it on your dodgy joints as an explanation?

Amyloofoo, I have hypermobility (along with other things) and it was one of the first things that got worse and tipped me off that there might be a chance... I have mentioned it previously to docs , physios and now to midwife. Midwife basically said they won't do anything until it becomes a real problem and then they might send me for physio (which of course there'd be a wait for). Previous medical bods said I may have a c section to prevent the hips from dislocation during birth. Either way, with my conditions my midwife reckons I'll be referred for consultant led care, so we'll see if that happens and what they do... In the meantime, you could get a maternity belt, worn over your hips, to help keep your hips in line more?

Teamlowe, just wondering (or maybe you did and I missed it) but how come you didn't announce your bfp on the 12m+ thread?

Afm: my "morning sickness" seems to be all day nausea with the odd dry heave. I'm now something like 8+5 and this makes me relieved/happy, cos my best friend miscarried at almost 8 wks 3 weeks ago and I got a little paranoid :o Starting to get the slightest hard bump-ish protrusion just above my pelvis. Nothing visible to the naked eye, but just feel-able :)

  • BZ you are just slightly ahead of me, I can't believe how happy I am to be getting fat and spotty ;)

Sorry to hear about the achy jointed ladies on here, hope it doesn't get worse for you guys.

Lilymay thanks so much for sharing your lovely picture, amazingly clear. Hope we get a good one this afternoon (only 8 ish weeks so won't be really detailed)

In other news, I passed my driving test today :T first time with 5 minors!! Yay!

BigZ mainly cos i'm a neurotic weirdo :o when i got it the thread was going through a sad period and i haven't found a good time since really. Plus I feel really guilty that it came with no medical intervention when others are having trouble with ivf etc. But you're right, i should be brave and say something :o

feel a bit horrible today, like a bit neaseous and a bit heartburny and a bit exhausted. suppose i should be careful what i wish for lol

realised last night the scan is going to be on Father's Day, so that feels like a bad omen cos it would be a bad day to find out bad news. but in better news a friend of mum's i chatted to in asda said i looked 'really great, you look radiant' and she definitely doesn't know so that was nice and a bit spooky lol also DH went to a theme park yesterday cos he's about six and bought me a kitty hat (who buys hats on sunny june days? honestly) and bought bean a fluffy elephant, awww x x
