Thanks for listening to me whinge... it's good to hear that I'm not the only one. Sometimes I think we should all set up our own Amazon-type tribe and let them starve, or whatever they'd do without us ;) Although I'm also very open to the idea of a mains-connected shed and a baby monitor :rotfl:

MV - I have my eye on the studio for a nursery too, but haven't yet dared to broach the subject with DH as he's going to struggle to fit his 'toys' anywhere else in our poky home :o I hope your OH gets more enthused with the decorating soon, perhaps he could give little one a music / technology theme for their nursery? :D

Congrats mincepie and onlyway - it's lovely to see you here:j Also, if you're lurking BZ - it would be great to see you too, although I can fully understand why it might all seem a bit soon... please don't worry, we're not going to 'jinx' you and will be sooooo excited to 'see' you, whenever you're ready :D

(I hadn't been lurking, but was alerted to this post ;))

It all feels far too early, but I have a midwife appt on tuesday! GP seems to think I'll get a dating scan at 8wks, but I'm sceptical - has anyone else had this (as well as 12 + 20wk scans)? Midwife will no doubt confirm or deny on tuesday, but we've been considering an early private viability scan, as we're a little antsy about my tubes and the higher risk of ectopic :o

I cant understand why you would need a dating scan at 8 weeks Zippy, especially as you know your dates! I know early scans are offered based on previous pregnancy history which obviously isn't applicable, or if you have any risk factors. Without any symptoms of ectopic I wouldn't have thought they would assume it for you. Still, you may be able to wangle one on reassurance grounds? I suggest waiting until atleast 6/7 weeks though. I wished I hadn't had the early one (not that I had a choice). It put so much fear in my head.

It's good that you are seeing a midwife soon. They don't book in until 10 weeks here for obvious reasons.

How many weeks do you think you are atm? Happy days :)

We do 10 and 20 weeks here, I found out I was 12 weeks at my first scan, but only because I didn't know the date I conceived.

At 8 weeks the egg might not have formed yet, my friend had a scan and they told her it was an empty sac, she waited a week or so and had another scan and they said no there is a baby the other scan must have been too early.
    Got married 13/11/10 :)

Lily I think it's standard in some areas, cos I asked another friend and she'd had one then too. Another friend a town over didn't. I'll find out on tuesday I guess.

I expected booking in at 10 wks too, but not complaining.

I'm around 5wks, depending on whether you go from ov/lmp ;)

That sound's really odd. I know 12 weeks is the most accurate time to date the baby as it's big enough to do accurate measurements and they also all grow at the same rate regardless of genes. Any earlier or later it gets inaccurate.

All early scans I've had before 12 weeks have been really off off the final EDD's as even half a mm can change things by weeks! I had a scan at 8+6 with DS and they gave me a due date of 19th November. The 12 week scan gave me a due date of 8th November!

I think I'm 6+3 today, although I'm guessing as ovulation so can't be sure. It's somewhere between 7+3 and 6+3.

Doesn't look like fatness to me - that's a lovely bump and I'm quite excited for mine now after looking at your pic. ;) Is this your 2nd? I'm expecting a bump much sooner 2nd time round as I think most people do don't they!? I was quite small up until about 5 months with my 1st (similar to your pic).

On another subject - Wow I just made the big mistake of watching one born every minute that I had taped on the sky plus box from weeks ago. What with these early hormones and the horrific episode (which I won't go in to) I'm an emotional wreck now :o x

yes hun my second i didn't start showing like this with my first till just after 12 weeks... but had period like swelling from around 8-10 weeks if i remember right. i'm quite glad i'm starting to get a bump and its growing by the week as i haven't had any other symptoms except sore/tender breasts (i was the same with my son) but i thought i'd get more symptoms that this so i was starting to worry .... i guess i'm one of the lucky ones. :) does anyone else know anyone that is expecting and due around the same time as them..... my best friend is due around 3 weeks after me if we have got our dates correct a family member about 2 weeks after me although i'm not sure exactly tbh i dont like her anyway so i'm not too bothered ... but really please me and my best friend can experience this together as i didn't know anyone expecting when i was pregnant with my son (although i was very young and he was a massive surprise to say the least lol) but there wasn't any family members expecting either xxx hope everyone is well hugs to all those that need/want one xxx
