That's great news amy. What have they dated you at?

I just had the consultant ring me on my way home and he wanted me to go back tomorrow for more bloods. HCG yesterday was 4400 but they are very concerned this is ectopic. He basically said things don't look good. I have to go to my own hospital instead for more bloods.

I am trying to stay optimistic and not get angry and bitter at everyone and everything.

Awww Lily, is it the bloods that are making them consider an ectopic pregnancy? I know the levels haven't doubled since the last set, but according to this site it's normal to take 72 - 96 hours to double at that level. Will they be able to do a scan to rule it out? Are you going to be able to go to your own hospital over the weekend or do you need to wait until Monday - that's a long time to worry and to be left with a suspected ectopic. I hope things are better than they seem now :grouphug:

AFM, the sonographer dated me at around 6 weeks, and said that she thinks today was probably the first day she'd have been able to pick up the heartbeat.

Glad your dates are as you had hoped.

I've only had one set of bloods this pregnancy - yesterday. Came back at 4400 which is totally normal for where I think I am in the pregnancy. I can't be sure of dates, obviously. I have to go to my own hospital tomorrow for more bloods. I'm hoping they are somewhere around 7k as, like you say, it seems to take longer to double at this stage.

I think they are very concerned about the empty sac and the pain. It's only confirmed as an interuterine pregnancy when they see a yolk sac which they couldn't yesterday. They seemed to be suggesting that at 4400, something should have been seen. I'm just really pi55ed off this is happening to me again.

Amy - super news about seeing baby foo's heartbeat etc :j:j

Lily - hows the pain and bleeding now? I had bloods done at 4+4 (374) and 5+4 (4905) so to me, your levels seem ok? At 6+1 on the scan they could see gestational sac, yoke sac and some evidence of heartbeat. Did you have an internal scan as well? Thats usually a little clearer. Sometimes it can take a little longer for some babies to show up on scans tho. I would have thought if there was a gestational sac then it couldn't be an ectopic?? Its such an awful time being in limbo. I so hope things work out ok for you xxxx

    Thanks Abi.

Yeah, my numbers look great. I think I am only 5+2 and as far as I can tell, a scan at 5+1 (yesterday) would only show a sac.

A sac can appear anywhere in the reproductive tract. They can only confirm a pregnancy is in the right place (ie, not ectopic) when the yolk becomes visible within the sac.

I suppose i'm just assuming the worst. I will stop whinging now, i promise. No more pain or bleeding is positive right? And my sac was round and had the white halo. All indicative of good things. Find some PMA Lily, find some PMA....

Don't be daft - thats what we're here for. Its so incredibly scary being pregnant after losses. I sooooo underestimated how much harder it would be this time round.

To me, all signs are looking good for you so far. But then I am an optimist so most things normally do look good to me :o No more pain or bleeding is defo a good sign. The hormone levels are a good sign. The fact they saw a sac in the uterus is a good sign. The bleeding might have been breakthrough/implantation bleeding, and the pain my have been unconnected or ligament stretching (some of mine was quite bad in the first few days)

Hope they get the blood results back quickly for you tomorrow and that they give good news.

Fingers are most definately crossed for you Lily xxx

When I had bleeding with Squeak I went for the scan (6+3) and they could see a sac, nothing in it .. no yolk sac, no foetal pole nothing) and they said they would do an ERPC but couldn't fit me on as the gynae ward was full due to lots of little old ladies slipping and breaking themselves on the ice, plus it was New Years Eve so no ops other than emergencies were being done so I was given an apt for a week later.

A week later we went back, they rescanned and there was Squeak with a little hb and all going well.

    Does that help?

Amy.. cysts aren't 'supposed' to be painful.. but they have been very painful when I 've had them.. a really sharp stabbing pain... so pleased all is perfect xxx
