Katie 22313 - just read through this challenge and others by Kat and others, this site will give you a lot of information and will inspire you to not just earn the extra £200 but to earn/save/cut costs/make money and be super thrifty. You will also get a lot of support from others in the same boat.

    Kat,
I am wondering what to do with my £342 compensation cash, i want to pay some off on my CC but also want to splurge some too, I think I know what I should do, but what do you think I should do?

I reckon you should CC £300 and splurge the £42! Do you use spreadsheets? Have a play about and see how that money will affect you dfd, it always (Mostly.... OK sometimes!!) works for me :D

Thats what I was thinking, although part of me wants to splurge the whole lot but will regret it if i do. And its £300 that I didnt have before to pay it off. Yes I use spreadsheets but not sure when my DFD is or even how to calculate it?

Oooh are you going to be on TV?

    *Shrug* ;)

The way I did it is, and i'm sure there are better way's i'm rubbish at excel...

Colom A is the name of the debt
Then across the top I have the date of any payments i have made with the updated totals
And the projected payment dates & provisional totals for that day, i.e. every payday

So I know that if I pay off X amount every thursday and X amount on the 28th then it'll all be paid by X. Does that make sense? I find it a massive motivator having that visual so I can today see that i have 17 more paydays until I am debt free. And if anything else comes in I add an extra colom and revise all the totals.

I'm sure someone must have a much better template than mine though!!!!!

I think you should only splurge if there's something you really need/want. I'm getting a bonus this month and have decided to spend half of it on a week away in Wales as I really need a break/something to look forward to for my own well-being and the other half is going towards the CC bill. I could go out and blow it all on things I don't really want just because I can but that seems a bit pointless to me.
  • Hello all,

Big hugs to you NSk, they don't know what they are missing out on, you definitely work wonders on here and I think I speak for everyone when i say we are eternally grateful. "Group hug"
Sending Mayfair positive vibes all the way.... Although very intrigued to find out what you are up to.
Well gone over my food budget already:mad:, a friend offered me a trip to an abbatoir so have well and truly stocked up on meat and have no room what so ever in my freezer compartment now. could have definitely been a winner on the Krypton Factor after fitting it all in.
Have cashed my shares in today, and made a profit of £1100 so all going towards my CC debt. Although not sure whether to leave in the bank to gain a bit of interest and pay off CC when 0% interest deal runs out in June or just pay CC now. Answers on a postcard please.

    Keep marching people xxx

Rosie, I would just pay it off, but then I would be tempted to just 'spend a little here and there' if I have it in my bank! Plus, won't it be a great feeling for 1 credit card to be gone!
