Regarding car seats that clip onto prams, don't forget when they're little it's not advised to leave them in car seats for long amounts of time. I seem to remember not more than an hour or two? Because being in that position can affect their breathing without you realising. I got a Pebble because it seemed the flattest car seat I could find, but still used to break longer journeys after an hour or so.0

Talking of car seats I'm picking up Freddie's next one today. He'll still be in the Maxicosi cabriofix in my car, but the OH is getting a Pearl for his. (We've got the familyfix base in his car, mine's too old for isofix so I just use the seatbelt). At some point we'll need another seat for my car but he's still OK in the infant carrier for a while.
Really stupidly excited about getting a new seat! Ordered it online last night to be delivered to my local Waitrose today. I love John Lewis click and collect"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Just had the clear from the doctor that we can go home today! (Assuming hubby can get in through the snowpocalpse)
The growing hospital Erin fan club who keep finding excuses to come in and have a play with her when she visits will be disappointed!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Great news that you're going home dizzi, how wonderful to have both your girlies together. So what has the age gap ended up being?
Ref front v rear facing - http://www.rearfacing.co.uk/
I have the britax first class plus which I will keep rear facing until Reu is 15kg - if he follows his current line he'll be approx 2yrs 9 months at that point. Then if they hvent changed laws/availability here, I'll be buying his next rear facing seat in europe, so that he can continue to rear face for longer.0 -
Age gap is just over 11 months which is what I was expecting - never thought I'd make it to full term, kind of amazed I just squeaked 36 weeks to be honest - I'd bet 35 with my midwife.
Only thing I wanted to avoid and would have done with how the dates worked anyway was them being in the same year at school.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
You can buy a few rear facers in this country, Kiddicare sell the BeSafe one. I tried it in my car, but decided to get the First Class Plus first as it was smaller, then change when I have to turn it. There's a few shops around that stock more of a variety.0

My OH has the pearl in his too. I had the easy base second hand off sister so for my car we went for the priori xp. OH bought the familyfix base so he could use it for as long as poss. The pearl is fab, Aiden loves it!Little Man born 11 March 2012 :smileyhea

Thank you very much!! I'll go with DH to Babies R Us and Mothercare so he can see those models. It seems most of you love either the Britax or Maxi Cosi. I'll take with me a list with the models you've said.
I've also been thinking about not keeping her in the car seat for over two hours. My pram does not lay flat and it's only forward facing, so she's all the time in the car seat attached to it, which also faces me. Up to now it wasn't a problem because I rarely used the pram for that amount of time anyway, but the older she gets (and heavier) the more we will be going out and the less she will be in the carrier. So I was looking for a pram that allowed me both forward and rear facing, and has a carricot or or can be used now at three months. I saw the Graco Symbio B at less than half price, £199 in Babies R Us. Has any of you tried this one? It shapes to a carricot or pram with a few clicks, but it's just one single item. When did you stop using the carricot?Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Here is a crash test video, with dummies, showing a child-dummy sitting in a rear facing seat and a front facing seat, in the same vehicle in the same crash. This video is enough for me to go rear facing as long as possible. Statistically, the majority of serious impacts are frontal or side.
