BabaMoose what nappies are you using? I'm no expert but maybe the nappies need boosting in certain areas? I would suggest a strip wash but if they've only been used for 5 weeks they shouldn't need it yet. I strip wash mine with a dishwasher tablet! XTrying to save for a deposit

Any other reusable nappies folks on here?
I'm having a nightmare day when pretty much every one of them has failed miserably at keeping wet nappies solely on the inside...
This is about the 6th change of clothes today... I'm sure his bladder hasn't massively increased in size, but have no idea why the nappies all of a sudden are going to pot (5 weeks they've been fine...)!!
Baba which nappies are you using? We use bumgenius v.4 and some miosolo and tots bots and have had a couple of leaks with the BGs. Since then I've boostered them with the bigger inserts and only the occasional leak with big wees. Do you use any barrier creams? I've heard they can impact on absorbency. Some nappies need to be stripped but I haven't done this yet- maybe google your brand?0 -
Evening all
OH is out at his work do and as LO won't go down without her "milkies" (bf) I'm home and she's been asleep in her cot since 7:45.
MrsH I was very worried about putting LO into her own room as she was waking very frequently through the night but actually, once I put her into her own room she immediately slept better. Since then, when we've been away and shared a room she's had bad nights again.
I also find if she hasn't had a nap in the day her night sleep is much much worse.
That said, we have been having bad nights recently - but I think it may be teething as yesterday I thought that I could see teeth beneath the gum, and this morning there is definitely a tooth or two coming throughWe've had no red cheeks, no drooling, no different nappies though.
I have a tomy bed guard on my side of our bed so if we're having a very bad night I can bring her in with me without fear of her rolling off the bed. We got it the day she moved into her own room and I have to admit there have been a number of nights when I have been SO grateful we have it. Before having LO I was very, very against every bringing LO into our bed; but to be honest I will do whatever I need to to ensure that we all get enough sleep to function and if that means extra cuddles so be it. I make a point of putting her down in her own room every night, and the past two weeks have tried feeding her and putting her straight back down in her room. It has worked for her first wake up, but not if she's woken a second time. I did have an amazing mommy moment the other morning at silly o'clock where I managed to cuddle her back to sleep - it was the first time I had ever managed to get her asleep whilst holding her, without milkies!
Baba sorry, we use disposables here
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.0 -
I'm having issues with my mum again - but this time she doesn't know it!
It's her smoking - we have been to her new house today & although they smoke outside Rebecca had come back home with smokey hair & the weirdest smelling skin on her face - but me & DH have decided that it is the smell of a smokers breath - I notice when we were at the house & I thought it smelt like BO, & even went around smelling everyone but didn't figure it out so I wiped Rebecca's face with a wet wipe & she smelt normal again. But the smell was there when we left & I ended up blaming my mums pillows! Mum was breathing all over Rebecca & kissing etc as was my dad so that is my conclusion!
My dad went outside for a smoke a couple of times & one time he came straight in & picked Rebecca up & breathed all over her & didn't even wash his hands. Now I'm not a clean freak when it comes to Rebecca but I would have thought they could wash their hands after smoking before holding her - this is one reason why I feel I couldn't leave her with them for any period of time but I can with my MIL!
Mum also took over quite a bit & took Rebecca's trousers off for no reason, moaned that Rebecca's feet smelt! & generally wouldn't let me near my own daughter - only when it was obvious that Rebecca was hungry that I got to hold her!
So advice if you care to give it - how do I approach my mum about her smoking & leaving it at least half hour before breathing over Rebecca? Or am I completely over reacting?
On a brighter note I went to a ceramic coffee shop in the week & done mugs, trinket box & photo frame with Rebecca's footprints on - she slept through the whole experience! Should be lovely Xmas gifts!
Going to put up Xmas decs tomoro - cant wait to see Rebecca's face with all he lights etc.
Sorry or the rant xxx0 -
Christening in 3 hrs and T has just banged his head on the nice sharp corner of our bedside table. Hopefully the bruising won't come out until tomorrow!?!?
Hope everyone has had a better night.
Sorry can't help with the reuse able nappy or reflux issues.0 -
lazywife put some ice on T. That's what I did when A bumped her head and it really helped a lot in minimizing bruising and swelling.
Have a lovely day x0 -
Thanks Saf, his feint birthmark seems to have masked it quite nicely! Sorry Nessie, I forgot to add that it sucks when your parents are smoking around your LO. I don't know that you can do much about it, you could try and ask them to give it 30 mins and wash their hands, but I feel you may get a short sharp response.x0

Morning (just!)
Hope everyone's well and had good nights. Fab one here :j
We've had a nice morning - a friend and her little boy came round for breakfastWe had pancakes and lots of berries (and syrup and choc spread and lemon and icing sugar for the adults
) He's four weeks younger than my LO and they go to the same nursery - I think she enjoyed showing off her toys! She fell asleep within 10 minutes of them leaving!
Nessie, I don't think you're overreacting at all - I'd be  I'm afraid I don't really have any advice though as it's thankfully not something I've had to deal with, but I hope you're able to talk to them about it.
Lazywife, hope christening goes well today
We haven't seen Katie on here for a while - hope she's OK and just busy house hunting!?
Have a good day all x0 -
Hi all, we're having a bit of a nightmare here. We could smell gas so called out national grid last night. They've cut us and our neighbour's gas supply off so we have no heating or hot water. We've moved into mum and dads whilst they sort it out as they found carbon monoxide, even though we have alarms that didn't register it. I'm not taking any chances.
Good news is that Thomas had a good night. He woke for two feeds at 3am and 5am after being put to bed at 11.30pm. We've had 6-7 hours sleep.
And I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight, combination of breast feeding and lack of appetite/more sensible eating and no snacking I think.
Hope everyone had a decent Saturday night.DS born November 2013 :smileyhea0 -

Well they were 2nd hand (reusing reusables) so a strip wash might be an idea.
They are Lollipop PopnGro nappies, but after a quick search on the net I think a few people have trouble with them from the sound of it. I also think (after closer inspection today) on a few of them the leg elastic has nearly gone which obviously doesn't help matters.
There was also a couple of instances when I was naive and didn't reposition Jack's 'bits' to point downwards so he just clear pee'd out the top and all over the outside... leaving the nappy pee-free inside.
Claps to me........ OH pointed out my error with those ones.0
