Eilis slept till 9 - woohoo! Woke twice for her dummy but that's better than making me get up for a bottle! I brought her in with me at 7 though cause I'd picked her up thinking she wouldn't go back to sleep but she did. Hopefully it was just this virus messing with her.

Took photos at my grans yesterday to make our annual family calender. It used to be my granda that insisted on it but he passed away in January so we have to keep going. Ordering myself one too this year :D

My Doctor gave me unbranded baby paracetamol for Eilis - I know I shouldn't complain cause prescriptions are free here but they've started giving all unbranded stuff which is a bit annoying!

IME own brand baby stuff is often better than the branded stuff, perhaps not nappies but certainly toiletries. Aldi sensitive baby wipes are fab, and Boots Sensitive Baby Bath, Johnsons really dries the skin out I found.

I've always been sceptical about branded stuff ever since I found out No Frills digestives were made by the same factory as McVities!
  • I'm funny about own brands too, even baby clothes. Aldi nappies are actually fine - I've only had one dud one out of many. I got some Rocha sleepsuits and vest as a baby shower present and they're really soft. I have this feeling that Johnsons are the worst for chemicals and allergies.

An unsettled night here with wind :( fingers crossed for tonight.

Hope Ellis continues to sleep through Claree.

Mrs H only plans for Christmas is cute baby outfits and photos with Santa. I need to buy a travel cot to stay with inlaws over Christmas.

Katie and sunshine I hope your LOs get better soon.

I assume you're in Scotlandshire or Wales. Prescriptions are free for children in England too. TBH, the NHS advises doctors to prescribe generic medicines where possible because they're cheaper and contain exactly the same active ingredient. Personally I think that's a good thing. I'd rather the NHS tries to save money than lines the pockets of drugs companies' shareholders.

  • Morning all, hope everyone had a nice weekend, we took lo to see santa, got a very cute photo and a thomas the tank engine puzzle, will keep for when he is older.
Be nice to my self, we got a red kite travel cot from asda direct, they had good reviews and we took it away with us to a hotel few weeks ago, would highly recommend and it is fairly easy to put up. Lo rolled over back to front this morning, so chuffed but I missed it as literally turned around tor a few seconds.

Hugs for babies with colds, I have an annoying cough and worried about passing it to ds.
    Mum of 2 :j

Johnsons stuff is awful... for babies anyway! They used to do a 'softwash' that smelt lovely and I used it for me but it would bring my younger 2 out in a rash.

Huggies wipes are the only ones that don't disagree with them, believe me I tried them all :o

Little miss is only just getting over the horrible cough/cold bug, that's three weeks or thereabouts she's been unwell :(

  • We don't use Johnson's anymore because lo came out in a rash and it dries his skin no end. The midwife who saw us before signing us off said Johnson's are really bad because of all the chemicals in them :)

Morning all, yay for Ellis sleeping Clare. C is a bad sleeper atm, he is a terrible napper so by the time bed time comes around he is in awful form, overtired and won't settle until be screams for hours. After a good night sleep or a good nap be is like a different child. I am planning on getting into better habits around his nap times to see if it helps. He looks to eat when he can't sleep and I think the snacking is making him gassy. I was reading up about sleep routines and I think I might try, eat, activity, eat, nap today and see how it goes!

Music maker sounds great saf, can't wait 'till Eilis is picking up toys & stuff, she's still not really interested, boo!

Had her at the health visitor this afternoon and she's dropped from the 91st centile to the 50th centile for weight which is a little bit of a worry. I think she's also a bit constipated which would explain her unsettled-ness through the day and also why she's been off her milk a bit (which in turn would explain the weight!) so we've got a gp appointment at 4.50pm to get her checked out. The health visitor mentioned gaviscon for constipation but when I look it up it seems to be loads of mums saying it GAVE their LO constipation so I'm hoping she just got mixed up :rotfl:

ETA: Has anyone tried the water babies swim lessons? It's £145 for 10 weeks ( ) just wondering if anyone's done it and thinks its worth it?

I have one who gently drifted down the centiles from around 90, he finally settled around 25th for weight and 9th for height. HV got me to bring him in a few times for weighing to check he was actually growing, then we decided he was just going to be a dot.

Gilly, he rarely seems to grow, but he's put on a little spurt and outgrown a load of his jumpers... that I bought last winter in 12-18!

We can only use Huggies too, I have a big stash under the bed!

We went to a party at the weekend, they had a buffet out at perfect child level. He kept going over and doing a little I want tap dance next to the cupcakes, and didn't take one! I was very impressed. :D We took one home for him, and he'd already eaten one, I'm not cruel :D
