Nutella thank you, thank you, thank you for the epic post :D It is much appreciated as much as I'm looking forward to going am slightly dreading the flights. On the way out I'm flying out of City, via Frankfurt and on the way back am flying into Heathrow (again via Frankfurt). I was planning in wearing her in my sling actually as would then have that whilst in transit.
Will be back to reply again later... just going to try and convince OH I "NEED" a paca pod :D

You definitely need a pacapod ;) I think they should be compulsory for everyone travelling with a small child! A sling is a great idea - I had my LO in one the first few times we travelled, but she's a very big girl, so by 9 months she'd grown out of the one we had and I didn't get a new one, so I kind of forget that they're an option for other people :o You'll be particularly glad you've got it when you're off on your loooong walk from plane to luggage at Heathrow...

City is great - it's full of businessmen and hardly any babies, so all the airport staff will shower you with attention :D Oh, and top tip: If you fancy a sit-down, the lovely people in Cafe Nero will get you a highchair even though there aren't any on show :) And Frankfurt has hand luggage trolleys I think.
  • little un has just had his 8 week vaccines and just woken up from nap screaming! his tummy made some noisy gurgles and he's done some loud bottom burps. nothing in nappy yet but I'm on standby...

did anyone else's baby have any side effects from the vaccine? I'm worried cos I don't have any baby paracetamol.

My LO didn't have any reactions from the first 2 jabs - but the 3rd one made her come out in a dreadful rash - so much so, I was really worried and took her to an out of hours surgery. It took over 2 weeks to disappear!

You might be absolutely fine - and it could be just wind or a massive nappy fill - be careful washing your hands as you can catch sickness from the contents of their nappies - I was told be careful for 48 hours after jab.

Oh...to anyone who is expressing - I was told this gold dust bit of info to get more milk flowing - I ended up being able to express 200ml in one go because of it (it was one of the breastfeeding team who told me this). Go from one boob to the other several times (even when theres no much coming out) - and then within a few days you will be producing loads! Best bit of advice I was ever given regarding expressing!
  • Hooray MrsH, sounds like a great day.x
BeNice, I'd agree, sometimes T just wouldn't settle because he'd just want to feed even if he wasn't hungry. (it's like being stood at a buffet table all the time, just snack 'cos you can). T was grissly about 4 hrs after his jabs every time. We did give Calpol, but it seemed to just send him to sleep and then he was ok, so if you can cuddle LO back to sleep he'll be fine (*or fill his nappy!)

  • Watching Children In Need with tears running down my face about the little ill babies. Being a mummy has just made it all so real.
Gave a little bit in the collection in Boots today, just want to give the Mum and Dad a hug.
    :(
  • Nutella, if you have the pods in the bag, can you fit a kindle/tablet in as well as a couple toys? I have a birthday coming up :D The sling I'm using at the moment is one of these. I still have her on the front though she's 6 and a half months (and just under 8kgs) but even if I wear her on my back, a rucksack changing bag I could wear on the front ;) Thanks for the tip re Cafe Nero :)

BeNice A woke up screaming after her first jabs and her third jabs. I gave her some calpol and fed her back to sleep and she was fine thereafter. She had no reaction at all to the second jabs.
Regarding weight gain, BF babies can not gain anything some weeks and then gain loads the next so it is often recommended to only weigh once a month so as not to worry you. Main things are: plenty of wet/dirty nappies and baby is alert and meeting milestones.

MrsH Well done to your LO :j :j It is SO exciting when they learn new skills - definitely worth being celebrated :D

I've only left A three times in 6 months and the longest was for an hour, when she was asleep and I didn't think she'd wake. Once with OH and my parents and twice with my parents. Until she's reliably taking solids/drinking from a sippy cup I don't feel comfortable leaving her. And she was very well behaved in my meeting today - she played quietly at my feet, and smiled at everyone who coo'd over her lol Gave the impression she is a little :A But I was very proud of her - and grateful too! :)

Claree Hope it goes well leaving E with your inlaws

Hope everyone else is well and has had a good day? Enjoy the weekend and Baba we're all here for you (and have all been there and survived ;))

A's been having rubbish nights this week so I am off to bed, with fingers and toes crossed and hair plaited that its a better night tonight :p
  • 8months ago today I had given birth at 01:31. I'm gob smacked at where the time has gone! Take heed new mummies, don't wish the time away! Enjoy the tiny bundle as long as you can before you know it you'll be where I am and more. Me and my oh used to say "aw I can't wait for his first Xmas, he'll be 9 months old" it felt like a lifetime ago, but it's nearly here!!

Saffa - hope a has a better sleep, my lo went through a horrendous waking me every hour stage! But glad to say he's over it!

Lazy - I was watching it to and it just shows, illness can happen to anyone, at anytime, the parents deserve a medal!

Benice - hope your lo is ok after jabs, they should get easier by the last lot. My lo slept pretty much for 48 hrs after his first but he was a softy! Second and third jabs didn't even bother him :)

Off to work! Bye ladies :)
Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!
  • morning

Saffagal hope you had a good night

Mrs Haworth I'm just starting to enjoy him a lot more now cos he's screaming less and has cuddly moments. I'm looking forward to first Christmas too!

lazywife I feel it more now too when I hear sad stories about little ones.

IhateDida thanks for the tip, think I'll try it next time I have to express. I can't imagine a time coming soon when I want to leave little un for 2 hours more.

Mrs Haworth congratulations. I'm a very proud mummy too - all he has to do is go to sleep lol!

Little un just had one very runny nappy and he had slept as usual during the night so maybe thats all the runny napppies he'll get from the vaccines.

I'm off to another nct nearly new sale - hoping to pick up a bouncer or rocker for upstairs but I've heard that they are really popular. I have my eye on a few cheap ones on ebay anyway.

I'm also going to a Christmas light switch on this evening - great excuse to put him in one of his Next Christmas sleepsuits, yay!
  • Sigh. She slept from 8:30 till 2 and was then awake until just before 4 before sleeping again until 7:30. I appreciate it could be worse but she slept through consistently for almost two months so why is she doing this now?

MrsH hope you've a good shift at work today and Happy 8 months old to your LO :)

    Have a good day all
  • Good luck at the sale BeNice and enjoy the Christmas lights. Definitely need LO in a Christmas suit for it :D
