I am leaving our LO (5 months) with a friend in a week and a half - this will be the first time we've had an evening out. But I am dropping her off and collecting her 3-4 hours later around 11pm-ish.
I would love to have family who would offer to babysit or even just take the baby out for an hour in the pram - but I don't - they are either dead, too ill/elderly or cannot be bothered!:(
However, I trust my friend and she is really looking forward to having LO - goodness knows how LO will be though - we are going to leave the pram so she has somewhere to put her when she gets tired. Just hope she behaves! (I am giving friend a huge box of chocolates just incase LOL!)
Thanks Nutella for toothbrushing info - will leave it a bit then - and just get her one of those funny looking baby toothbrushes to chew so she gets used to it!0 -

We have one of these (truth be told, we're on our fourth as they got thrown around a lot in the early days - at one point we had one for playing and one for brushing!) and to the extent my LO's ever going to like a toothbrush, I think this is the closest we're going to get0 -

My mum keeps asking to have him for a couple of hours 'to help me out' but I think he's far too young as he's not even 3 weeks yet. She has even asked to have him overnight! Apparently I am being too clingy and its not good for either of us!? But I don't see how this will help me as I'd just be worrying about him anyway and I wouldn't be able to settle.
I left DS with my mum for 2 hours on Wednesday at 11w 5 days old. The first and only time I have left him with anyone other than DH. Everyone is different, I wouldn't leave him unless you were comfortable. My mum has been amazing since he was born, really good with him and happy to do things my way.0 -

The first few times MIL or my Mum took T out in pram around the block for an hour or so. I knew they were no more than 10 mins away at any point (it's a small village, so can wander around but a direct way home isn't far). So if he kicked off and needed feeding, or there was a code brown she could bring him back within a few minutes. We did that within the first few weeks (even though the 1st time I was pacing round the house wanting my little man back with me!). Since then I'll pop into town and leave him with them for maybe a couple of hrs, but no longer as he's still bf and never quite know if he'll be a hungry munchkin that day. Never dropped him off at theirs and never let them take him round to theirs. Not yet.
Thanks for the advice on nibbling Katie. He's been much better today, I've sort of made him stop and think about what he's doing before latching on and seems to give him time to work out what to do!

Can I just show off for a minute because I'm a very proud mummy.
Lo is now saying dada and saying "c" sounds, obviously just babble but cute non the less. Also today has suddenly mastered toast and a baby biscuit and getting his tippee cup to his mouth.
I'm just so proud of him and his progressNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
Nutella thank you, thank you, thank you for the epic post
It is much appreciated as much as I'm looking forward to going am slightly dreading the flights. On the way out I'm flying out of City, via Frankfurt and on the way back am flying into Heathrow (again via Frankfurt). I was planning in wearing her in my sling actually as would then have that whilst in transit.
Will be back to reply again later... just going to try and convince OH I "NEED" a paca pod0 -
Thanks Baba for the info. Everyone seems to be saying different things but as suspected it was a one off and she was back to 3.30 waking last night.
LO is 1 month today! I'm celebrating by christening my breast pump for DH to try doing the night feed tonight. Did I just say that?! Amazing how fast things and activities change when you have a little person!
What is everyone up to this weekend? Hubby is off to the rugby so I'm off out for tea and cake with my uni friends. Just hope A doesn't have a screamy day!0 -

continualdiamond I use bodyshop hemp hand protector for dry hands. It's £10 but sometimes £5 on offer.
walkingonadream I used to be able to express 50ml - 3oz (75ml) was a really good one and took about 45 mins to get! expressing isn't as effective as getting milk out compared to a baby.
We left little one at 6 weeks with OH's close friend for 2 hours as we needed to go and see our cat in hospital. I'm glad we did as my cat passed away 5 hours later. I think leaving little un with others would be more of an emergency rather than a planned thing now. I don't like leaving him for more than 2 hours in case he needs boob.
I'm a bit worried about little un's weight but I'm deliberately waiting 2 weeks in between weigh ins so I don't get even more worried. Last time he gained 6oz in a week which is really good. My nephew was on a low percentile and had a big head whilst combination fed so I'm hoping the lean look is a family thing.
Baby has been sleeping a lot today. Normally he is crying and screaming from wind a lot! I'm hoping this doesn't mean that he won't sleep as well tonight...
We have a loose routine. OH has baby from 10pm-12pm then last feed 12-1am and baby usually settles for a long sleep. I wake baby up at 6 for a feed. Then I squeeze 6 more feeds in usually 9-10, 12-1, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 & 9-10. I try and imitate cluster feeding in the evening as baby is crying so much with wind that I can't tell when he is actually hungry. Before OH had baby for 2 hours before last feed it was torture as baby wouldn't settle until 3/4am and sometimes 7am. I think OH is much better at settling him as he doesn't smell of milk.0
