Thanks everyone for your welcomes and continual it is so nice to see a familiar user name from the preg thread :D

Sounds like you also had a tough time birth wise and that you may well be feeling like I do! Actually I am probably worse...if my OH goes for a nap or leaves room I bawl my eyes out! I am so overwhelmed with responsibility. If he cries for food or a nappy change I can handle it but he is almost 2 weeks old now and he has this other irritated cry and I don't know why he does it! It seems to be a cuddle thing as often I pick him up, he'll squirm and then fall asleep on me. Scares me sh**less to be honest!!

Thanks for the advice on discussing birth. I have decided to go ahead and have a briefing once I am well as I don't understand alot of what happened. I had an emergency c section after 14 hrs of labour and was told baby was transverse at this point (I had attempted to push), I ended up having an epidural, which was topped up for c section but cannula had moved during transit to theatre and it numbed me from neck down so I couldn't breath and ended up delivering under GA with assisted breathing. Following that I had a dural puncture as well as losing lots of blood and needing 2 (and possibly a 3rd) blood transfusion. And for 3 days my c section wound has soaked my pjs and bed in blood! So it's been awful really! But cliched as it is baby is so so so worth it although I admit I felt detached when I first saw him! Which makes me cry with guilt as I can't believe I felt that way!

Sorry - bit of a sob story for my second post!!! Hope everyone is well and congrats to any other new mums joining the thread x

Wow Bangton. Mine was nothing like yours. I was induced at 1:30 pm and by 6:30 pm was having period type cramps. I'd managed to convince my husband to go home with some help of the midwifes as we all believed nothing would happen until the next day and that's when I need him the most.

My period type cramps became worse and by 10:30 pm I was having some pain killers thinking if it could just ease the pain a bit I could nap and get some energy back before the big event. The pain killers did nothing.

At 12 am baby was being monitored again and wasn't happy so they sent for the Dr. At 12:45 am I was ringing my husband to tell him to come back and was told it was looking like a c section. They broke my waters first to see if baby would become happier, I was 1 cm dilated at this point, it didn't make any difference other than me dilating to 2 cm.

I remember the Dr saying 5 mins on the machine and the magic number was 100, otherwise it would be a c section. Machine only reached 96 so a c section it was.

After that it was all a bit rushed. I had the shakes in my arms and my teeth began to chatter when the spinal block kicked in, I panicked a bit cos I remember asking if these symptoms were normal.

She was born at 2:10 am on the Sunday and for the rest of that day I felt dreadful. Hubby was bit worried about me bonding with baby as he could tell I wasn't myself. It wasn't until the Tuesday really when I felt my normal self.

I've had moments of tears since being home, especially last night. She didn't fall asleep until 12:30 am and had been awake since 3:30 pm. She'd fall asleep in our arms etc but as soon as she was put down within 10 mins she was crying and it was a totally different cry.

She fed okay etc and then we went into panic mode, taking her temperature etc, thinking she was poorly. Hubby thought about taking us to the hospital, we just didn't know what to do, especially as the cry was one we hadn't heard from her before.

Imagine our surprise when hubby googled what we were experiencing to find out it was over tiredness.....derrr moment for us.

All in took was her being swaddled and playing white noise on the slumber bear and she slept from 12:30 am till 7 am. Of course I woke plenty of times in the night to check on her and debated whether to wake her for a bottle but decided against it, she clearly was shattered.

Today has been lovely, happy baby, who has fed and slept as she normally does....

Katie, how's G this evening? Hope the poor little fella is feeling a bit better. Metanium is amazing for sorting out sore bottoms. But yay for new fridge and oven! :D
  • Evening ladies,

Does anyone know of any baby clothes sales on at the moment? Lo is growing out of 6-9 vests and I've realised we have nothing for 9-12 :)

How is everyone? Lo is teething and has been very unsettled last few nights. We've had to get him asleep in our bed first. Poor love!

Oh and wanted to ask, is lots of poos down to teething? He's pooed about 3 times each day for the last few days, not got the runs just pooing a lot!

Tesco have lots of nice baby clothes in the sale, some things really cheap. just got DD1 a pack of 5 knickers for £2! Have to say I didn't really look at the boys clothes with not having one, but there seemed to be a lot there.

My younger 2 poo'd loads with teething, and it could be really runny and smelled evil... almost like vinegar!

So far this morning we've had two tantrums: one because I wouldn't let her pick eggshells out of the bin and eat them, and one because I wouldn't let her climb on the dining chairs. She's now trying to climb onto the coffee table whilst looking at me, shaking her head and saying 'no'. This could be a long day!... :rotfl:

But on a more positive note, we've just had pancakes and blueberries for breakfast :)

Morning everyone. Almost the weekend :j we went to soft play yesterday, and LO fell asleep for 2 mins of the drive home so didn't nap at all yesterday but he rewarded me with a major long lie this morning, we didn't get up until 9, it was lovely :o both still in our pjs so I guess we better get a move on.

R.e slippers and pjs, I tend to only get new ones at Christmas time, but I adore new pj's, I never seem to wear matching ones at all, but I'm anal about A having matching pjs on. My OH sometimes picks them out and they don't match, sends me crazy! I got some gorgeous fleecy ones for Xmas for him but now I've seen next have some snuggle fit (our favourite) Santa ones, which I NEED for Christmas Eve :o

Welcome to all the newbies, try not to worry too much about routine, it is handy to either have an app (loads of them out there) or a note book or something and record everything LO does, feeds, sleeps etc as sometimes you can see a pattern emerging when you see it all in front of you, which you wouldn't otherwise pick out in a tired haze. Everything does fall into place in the end and listening to baby and your instinct is the best thing to do at such an early stage.

Well best go get dressed

P.s good to have you back Nutella xx

Thanks Nutella :). He's ok in himself really, just this hideous cough. Tummy seems to have settled but his bum just isn't healing up - its not major, just red but it can't be comfortable. The metanium helps and I'm changing him almost once an hour so it's not like he's sat in a soggy nappy. Can't think what else I can do to ease it? Any obvious foods I should avoid? Not that he's eating much at the moment anyway, and nothing different to usual.

Sounds like you're going to struggle getting much work done today?!

Nutella - glad your home flight was a lot easier. :) we are flying to Spain for a week next weekend and I'm dreading a 90 min flight where I will have my DP to help me, so I take my hat off to you! :T

Gilly - I'm the same re pjs. My kids have to wear matching but I'm usually found in a vest top and any old pj bottoms!

Katie - hope George is ok. Big hugs.

Welcome and congratulations to all the newbies. :j

We have another hospital appointment today, this time for ds1. The schools on strike today so I have them all home

Delain - are your girls schools open?

katiechoc I'd advise as much nappy free time as you can for a sore botty. I put a big towel on the floor and encourage my LO to sit on the potty or on the towel. We did this for a while and she did 2 smelly poos and a few wees, but now won't even entertain sitting for more than 2 secs, but her rash cleared up.
