Nutella, glad your flight went well. Hope your LO was ok going to nursery x

Bangton, your birth story sounds , glad you are looking into talking to someone about it x

I now have 2 little walking babies on my hands :T. Amelia took her 1st steps last night and within a minute was walking all over the place! It was as if once she realised she could, she didn't want to stop :rotfl:

Morning ladies (where did Supersaver go?) :)

Cake, yay for walking! :D Nursery went really well yesterday, thanks for asking. She spent the day running around and giggling and chatting, presumably telling them all about her holiday :)

Have a good day all x

Welcome back Nutella, glad you had a good trip :)

Welcome to the new faces/names ;). Hope you're all doing ok :)

It seems we can't go longer than a week without being poorly at the moment - just got over tonsilitis which followed a bad cold and the little fella is now coughing fit to burst :( and has an upset tum which has left his botty red and sore. Hopefully it'll all sort itself out quickly.

On the plus side we've just had a new fridge and oven delivered! I've never had a brand new one of either, and our old ones were OLD. Can't wait to get baking!

Ugh. It's raining cats and dogs here today! I wore my 'waterproof' jacket and came home wringing wet... awesome. Not. Poor Squeak was wet through as well in spite of having her coat and wellies on. Little miss was OK though fast asleep in her buggy all wrapped up. I think we were all pretty jealous of her TBH :rotfl:

I did see my friend who works in the outdoor shop (I forget the name of it!) and she said I've damaged it by putting it in the washing machine *sigh* so off goes me to the internet to try and get another coat :o

Bangton, that sounds like a total nightmare! Good job you are on the mend now :)

Delain I think you can get stuff to put in the washing machine with it that would re waterproof it? Nikwax or something? I'll have a look. Getting wet is horrible - hence us having an indoor day today (not counting a trip to lidl for emergency chocolate ;))

    Eta - this stuff http://www.nikwax.co.uk/en-us/productselector/productselector.php

Thanks Katie! I'll look into that :D

It's a Helly Hansen lightweight coat that I got from M&M for next to nothing 2 years ago... It's now rather big so I was thinking about replacing it but the same one is £50 on there at the moment  so spraying might be the way forward :o

We have had a mainly indoor day today too... got to go out in a bit though to get a couple of bits from town before school pick up. Our buses have been really bad again today though so we might walk down rather than spend 25 minutes standing still with a bored toddler! At least the rain has stopped now and the sun has come out.

Edit: Have just found 2x1ltr bottles of that Nikwax (the wash and the waterproofer) for £14 on Tesco! Thanks Katie :D Have ordered it and will collect it from store tomorrow.

  • Hi all
graduating over here from the pregnancy thread. Baby Patrick was born a week last sunday, still getting to grips with things and trying not to do too much after a C section (I feel fine and have had no pain with it but I'm conscious that could change if I do too much). Absolutely besotted with our boy, and determined to make the most of maternity leave!
Had the midwife round yesterday, and he's back up to his birth weight, and the health visitor today, which was a bit awkward as I've worked with her in a professional capacity but she didn't realise until we got talking as I work under my maiden name. She ended the visit with "I'll have to tell the girls in the office I've seen you, we didn't know you were pregnant" (I know most of them at least to speak to on the phone). It's a bit awkward working and living in the same area!

Sounds like you really went through the mill Bangton, I'm glad the hospital have offered some sort of explanation/debrief. I had an awful birth too and wondered if it would affect my bond with LO longer term but if anything, it has made me more attached as I went through so much to safely deliver her. Strangely, it's not put me off having anymore either as I feel I can handle it again now I've done it once

Thank you for this post. It's so reassuring. Did you feel put off having another in the early days following your birth? sorry you had an awful one too. I think I can identify with the feeling more attached as I feel the same. After coming round I had an infection and a blood clot and was kept on oxygen for hours - I really thought I would die and was absolutely petrified my OH would resent the baby. I kept saying please please don't resent him if anything happens to me because I just loved him way too much! :o

Anyhow I am here to tell the tale and I feel stronger today than I have for the last fortnight since he was born :D

Baby slept well last night. Put him down at 1am and he didn't get up till 5 - OH fed him thank god as I was shattered and then he was back up at 9.30pm so that was a good nights sleep on the whole for us! His pattern is erratic at moment though - can anyone tell me when they noticed a bit of a routine with baby? Some nights it's a feed every 2hrs or worse his feeds run into one another as he is so slow and falls asleep! Then other times he goes 4hrs on a 4oz bottle. I expected some loose routine but every day varies :)

Glad youre feeling a bit more yourself today. I Think a debrief with the midwives would really help you come to terms with it. I would try not to worry about not wanting another straight away - hormones are all over the shop so soon after birth.

And I wouldn't get hung up on a routine for a good while yet, just go with the flow. And to heck with the housework :o

    Eta welcome tiny courageous, congratulations!
