The visit went fine thanks for asking.

We are starting off with fortnightly visits, they are starting him on picture cards but as he is still quite young they said it may take a while for him to pick it up. We have a list with some ideas for imaginary play (eg brush teddies hair). Apparently early intervention can make a HUGE difference to an autistic child's future so we are on the right path. :T

Cake - sorry to hear about your holiday :(

Evening all, hope that you're all well.

We've had a manic few days and they will only continue this week and next I'm afraid... end of Oct things will quieten down again and fingers crossed I'll be around a bit more again. I am so looking forward to the end of Oct and having NO visitors for a little while.

A has a nasty cough at the moment - is there anything I can do to help? I've had her at the doctor a few times and her chest is clear so its just at the back of the throat if that makes sense. Anyway doc says it's viral and will clear up... she's had it for 5 weeks now! I've raised part of her mattress so her head is up a bit, I'm using snuffle babe on her chest and also a couple drops of olbas on a muslin tied onto the cot... anything else???

There's been a book in the news recently written by a boy with autism. I heard excerpts from it on the radio. It sounds wonderful and gives a real insight into how it feels to be autistic. Obviously it's from the perspective of someone a lot older than Noah but might be worth a read?

    It's called The Reason I Jump. http://www.amazon.com/The-Reason-Jump-Thirteen-Year-Old-Autism/dp/0812994868

  • hey I have a 4 week 6 day DD by ECS delivered as she hadn't grown since her 27wk scan so the delivered at 35 weeks and she spent a week on nicu as she couldn't eat/breath without help.

Shes extra special as we got told we'd need IVF - and we were looking at fostering.

    Sooo hi all

    Hope everyone is well?

Welcome Andrea and Congratulations on your little girl :)

Sammie, glad to hear that the first visit went well and it all sounds very positive to get the best outcome possible.

Cake, so sorry to hear about your car. Glad though that you got home safely.

Welcome nessie and Congratulations on your LO. We're also ebf, and yes sometimes we have daily (or a couple times a day dirty nappies) and sometimes we go a few days between them... and when those ones come they are immense  Hope that your first health visitor went well. On our first visit she was here for about an hour and asked LOADS of questions, including whether LO had an ASBO - she was 10 days old!!!!! She only came again to weight LO as I couldn't drive yet following my emcs.

    Sparkles, congrats on the rolling!!!

AFM, lo swam today (with armbands) without me holding her! So pleased with her progress in swimming lessons! I've sent my visitors out for a walk... should be getting on with things but so nice to have a sit down in peace and quiet for five minutes!

Thank you, I have checked online and my local library have the book but it's out on loan at the moment. I have reserved it for when I is returned. :)
