  • Hi everyone. Yesterday we got 55 miles into our journey on the holiday that never was, and broke down :(. Had to wait for the recovery van to arrive and tell us it was un-fixable, then wait for a bigger truck to come and tow us home.

Gutted is not the word

So now we are car-less and sat looking at 4 walls. I know it was only a caravan holiday for 5 days but I was looking forward to a nice break for us all. And it would have been the girls 1st holiday :(

Oh well. I suppose we'll have to have a wander to the local park and see if any of the baby swings (if they have them) are still intact

Sammie, hope the home visit goes well

As for toothbrushes, we just use the ones that came in the pack the HV gave us at their 6 months review. Mollies got 2 teeth and Amelia none, but we just let her gum the toothbrush to get her used to it. We used to put them to bed asleep (yes, I know!), we just found it easier that way as they would scream and wind each other up, but for the last few weeks we give them their milk laid on the living room floor and take them up awake. Had no problems with it at all, so will have to start brushing teeth before taking them up now.

Is it bad that we have only been brushing Mollies 2 teeth in the morning? :o

Afternoon all, we have a toothbrush :)
We went to the baby to solids talk today and they gave them out there. I'll start with his bedtime routine tonight and then try to remember twice a day. Useful talk, full on BLW is the recommendation now, hurray! I've ripped up an old tatty duvet cover to make some floor cloths, going to hem them and embroider a little knife and fork pic in the corner, so they'll look cute.
Sparkles ... rolling both ways already? Well done, T can roll onto his front, but can't get back, so stays for a while and them just whimpers to be put back.
To all those ladies cleaning, well done ... I'm not just a lazywife by name!
Cake, gutted for your holiday, do you think you may get away again later in the year, or is it going to take all your money to fix the car?

    How did it go Sammie?

I have a little toerag on my hands today, I feel like I spend my whole day running after him shouting 'don't touch' 'put that down' *sigh*

I have BBQ Pork chops in the slow cooker, and they smell sooo good, cannot wait for dinner time, just gotta pop my sweet potatoes in to roast, hopefully A chooses to eat something, yesterday he did not eat 1 bite the whole day, but he woke up absolutely starving this morning and has had a go at everything I've put down, thankfully.

Stress never ends with these kiddiwinks does it?

Hi all, my time to join you now that dd is 9days old! (Where did the time go?)

Quick question to get me started, I've got health visitor coming tomorrow so can ask her but thought you ladies might be able to tell me your experiences

I am breast feeding dd any most of yesterday & all today she has not passed any poos - plenty of wet nappies, but no 'solids' is it something to be concerned about? She seems to be a very windy baby though

Also, what does health visitor do on her first visit?

    Thanks x

Welcome Nessie & congratulations on the birth of your LO.
As regards to poo, I liked T to do one a day. If he held back one day then it would normally be a giant one early the next day! If the last one was early yesterday and still hasn't had another by the time HV comes tomorrow, I would mention it (48 hrs I think probably is significant), but probably will sort herself out by then.
HV quizzed me about feeds, got me worked up as I wasn't waking him up to feed if he slept more than 3 hrs and told me that the chair I was using to BF wasn't practical.... but actually she was probably quite nice, I was just so hormonal and "new Mum" that I could only concentrate on what I wasn't doing right! Lol. In general they'll check up on regularity of wet and soiled nappies, how often you're feeding (will observe if due a feed whilst they're there), weigh LO and poss. measure height. Also check how you are, how you feel, how you're healing (can look if you have had any stitches down there, but won't if you don't need them too... I never got them checked). But they will all be slightly different.
Enjoy your little mini baby, I miss the new born days, soooo small (even though he was over 9lbs, still seems tiny now).

P.s. you can massage her tummy in a clockwise direction, or cycle her legs, that may move things along.

It is very normal for breastfed babies not to go everyday, anything up to 10 days in between is considered normal :o HTH x

Edit: Breast milk, is made up of exactly everything a little one needs, so with some there is very little waste, and this can result in less than frequent poos.

I bf and yep exactly what Gilly said, my LO used to poo everyday, sometimes a few times a day and then she suddenly stopped and didn't poo for a few days. I wasn't worried as if they are constipated there are signs and my LO was happy as larry, but when she did go my God it was massive!!! It filled the nappy and was the gr0ssiest thing in the world!!

Breastfed babes can poo every feed or nothing for days and days. Provided they seem happy otherwise I wouldn't worry.

  • My lo was formula fed so not bf but cycling the legs and massaging his tummy always always brought on a poo :)

    Welcome Nessie and congrats!

Sorry about your hol Cake! Shame about the car also!
