ah yes weaning poo. Fascinating and disgusting in equal measures!
Lola I've never heard of anything like that sorry, but hope LO feels better soon0 -
I took LO to the doctors this morning. She has been throwing up every night for the last 5-6 nights. She's fine in the day, very cheery and eating well, but then come to the night time she's throwing up sometime after we put her to bed. I have been checking on her before I go to bed and a couple of times she has already thrown up or she hasn't and then we go in the following morning and she's thrown up. The poor thing its all in her hair and all over her sleeping bag/pjs/bedsheets and she's obviously just slept in it
The times she has thrown up before I go to bed we've stripped the bedding/pjs etc and then put her in the bath, apart from being a little groggy from being woken she's happy as larry splashing around and being her usual chirpy self.
Last night I was giving her some dinner and she began retching and just threw up, I managed to catch most of it in my hands! We put her to bed and she was fine when I checked before bed, but this morning there was a small patch of regurgitated sweetcorn on her bed
Anyway the doctor was clueless, she basically ruled out a bug (I kind of guessed as she wasn't spewing all day), not an ear infection, not abdominal migraine, she's pooing and weeing okay so no blockage. She's eating and drinking fine in the daytime, so at a loss really!!
We put the monitor on (we haven't used it for months now) and we don't hear anything so I don't think she's in any pain, well I hope not.
Anyone have a clue? No one else in the family is ill and she hasn't been incontact with any other children who have been ill. I'm tempted to move her into the spare room and for me to sleep on the spare bed to keep an eye on her, but the bed is really uncomfortable especially since I'm 29 weeks pregnant.
Fingers crossed she gets better and not worse
How old is she? If it doesn't improve, ask for a referral to a paediatrician, preferably one who specialises in gastric disorders. Could be nothing. Could be anything really. Give it a week or so then back to the doc's I reckon."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

That's such a good description of weaning poo! :rotfl:Expect the unexpected I'd say
MrsH, you could try giving your LO steamed/cooked pear - might get things movingPeaches are also good, and they're really yummy at the moment.

Evening all
Lola and Turtle, your poor LOsHope things improve very soon x
My LO started her settling in process at the next room up at the nursery today. Went much better than I'd feared, given how attached she is to her 'old' key personShe was incredibly chatty this evening, presumably telling us all about her day (the new room even has an aquarium, which she loved
) - although when they first tried to get her to walk into the new room, she just shook her head and said NO! NO! :rotfl:

I thought it was just our lo, can you remember what happened? Was it just a phase?
Hi hun,
Sorry for the delay in answering, we were on holiday - which was fab. Anyway, yes it was just a phase you will be happy to hear! Nate only drank small amounts from each bottle for about a month or so, then I read that reducing by one bottle can make a difference, so instead of feeding him every 3 hours we fed him every 4 hours. It didn't happen instantly but he did start drinking more again. Now that I have been through that stage I would say don't worry like I did, he drank only small amounts for well over a month (maybe 2) and he was absolutely fine, completely healthy.

Quick question, is it ok to make up a bottle for an 8 month old the night before and put it in the fridge ready for the morning? I know on the carton they say don't make it up in advance, but I've got the older generation telling me that they used to and "look at you, your fine" (debatable!:D).
In my NCT group 4 out of the 8 out of us bottle fed or combination. We all did the same thing which is to boil the water in advance for the day, pour them into the bottle, but put the powdered milk into little containers (like these ) and only pour the powder in when you need it, so no waiting when the baby is crying but your milk isn't made up too far in advance for bacteria to develop.

Hoping you ladies could give me some ideas, it's my wife's 30th birthday next month and I'm completely stuck what to get her! Really want something special after such a hard year, she suffers from ptsd and pnd which she sees a councillor for every week and she deserves something special. She has a full Pandora bracelet which she wears every day, toying with the idea of a new ring, but any other suggestions would be wonderful. I have a reasonable budget to spend!
How lovely!! I would say you can't beat a lovely spa break for the two of you. No woman can resist a relaxing massage, facial etc!My darling boy born December 20110 -

She's 17 mths now, DH asked BIL as he's a doctor and he reckons it's because I might be feeding her too much at her evening meal and as she's sometimes a tummy sleeper its causing her to puke?! She's been fine for the last 17 mths!
The doctor did say see how it goes, it can go one of two ways, she'll get better and we'll never know what it was or it'll get worse! Thanks for that doctor I could have guessed that, but she did do a thorough check on her and said come back if she doesn't improve.
I can't wait for my MIL to find out about the constant state of our 2nd living room. We have been washing constantly to keep up with the amount of sick covered stuff, but with the rain we've had to find inventive ways of hanging it indoors, she already said it looks like a Chinese laundry when we use just a clothes airier (I find this a bit racist being British Born Chinese!! but that's for another time). She keeps going on at us about getting a tumble dryer, but I really don't see the need as the clothes airer doesn't take up loads of room and the clothes dry pretty fast so a tumbler would just mean spending more money on electricity.Got married 13/11/10
