Lola, poor choice of words by MIL considering your background!
It's so nice to hear happy nursery comments, although it's still 7 months until LO goes to nursery I'm holding on to the comments like yours Sunshine, so I can justify in my mind that it's a good thing.
Not much going on here, Mum and Dad stayed for a couple of days, so nice to them enjoying T. He's now sleeping through more often than not. I think the cooler nights have helped, back in babygro and grobag last night and he's still asleep now at 7.30..... My b00bies are like rocks!
Looking forward to the day with just the two of us.

She's 17 mths now, DH asked BIL as he's a doctor and he reckons it's because I might be feeding her too much at her evening meal and as she's sometimes a tummy sleeper its causing her to puke?! She's been fine for the last 17 mths!
The doctor did say see how it goes, it can go one of two ways, she'll get better and we'll never know what it was or it'll get worse! Thanks for that doctor I could have guessed that, but she did do a thorough check on her and said come back if she doesn't improve.
It's frustrating but I guess that most things simply do clear up without any treatment. So when a doctor says 'wait and see' it really is the best clinical approach, at that point. Obviously if things don't improve, then further investigations are needed.
My friend's little boy (similar age) was sick frequently. His symptoms aren't the same as your little girl's (he was sick during the day too) but it took many months to find the cause. It turns out he was allergic to pulses (beans, baked beans, lentils, hummus, etc.). I'm not suggesting that your girl also has an allergy but it might be useful to start a food diary. Morning all
Need some advice please... I have a seven-hour flight coming up next month, with an impatient and curious 16-month-old on my lap. SighDoes anyone have any ideas for toys that would fit into my hand luggage and keep her occupied for longer than ten seconds?
That pesky tooth that's made our lives a misery for the past few nights is very nearly completely through. She had some Nurofen at midnight after she woke up screaming and nothing could calm her down (and it wasn't due to her having nightmares, as that cry is different from her pain cry...). Fell asleep again once it kicked in and woke up at 6.30am
Went to get her weighed this morning so that we could get her prescription for malaria tablets, as the dosage is based on weight for someone that small. 12 kilos! :T Very pleased with that - we've been so worried about her becoming overweight and have tried very hard not to overfeed her - and to get the nursery to not overfeed her (she'll eat anything and everything if you let her!) so that as she grows taller, her weight will 'even out'. But this means she's now just above the centile she was in when she was born, so it's all goodNow all I've got to figure out is how to get a quarter of a tablet into her once a week for the next nine weeks.... I think crushing it and hiding it in her food is the way to go.
Hope everyone's well x0 -
I think the trip to the doctors might have triggered something, she wasn't sick last night so fingers crossed it has gone away, but my DH has just made a point of ringing me to tell me she has done what he describes as a chicken korma poo!! Apparently it was squidging out the legs and up her back, all over her clothes. Not diarrhoea, but was a result of eating macaroni cheese. So guess what he gave her for lunch more mac and cheese!! Oh well I'm in work all day and won't see her until tomorrow so hopefully she'll keep all the lovely nappies for DH!!Morning all

When I took DD1 to Spain in July she was 15 mths and it didn't matter what toys/objects I gave her. All she wanted to do was walk up the aisles and peer over/around the seats to bother the other passengers! The outgoing flight was very late and she should have been asleep so I held her and walked up and down for a while and she fell asleep on me/in sling. On the way back it wasn't so easy as she'd slept 3 hours in the car on the way to the airport so she was full of beans even though again it was a late night flight.
It was so embarrassingthe air hostess was trying to do her exits are here, here and here bit, in the event of air pressure reducing etc, but Isabella just kept doing this really loud, big belly laugh, we were surrounded by what looked like a school trip 12-14 year olds who thought she was hilarious and this make her laugh even more. It was so loud and it went on for so long I was tempted to put my hand over her mouth. I tried sshhing her, but she just kept going. My DH's step sis didn't help as she was laughing so hard she was crying!! If looks could kill!! In the end I resorted to food and that kept her quiet for a bit. Do you have an iPad or similar as I've heard some people saying they are a God send or aa smart phone you can download stuff on to?

I think the best thing, if you can, is to let her wander around. At least you know she can't get lost
Failing that, the best thing I heard was a goodie bag with inexpensive bits, but lots and lots of them. I think the idea was that the novelty would keep them going. A bit like a christmas stocking. What time's the flight? Hopefully she'll spend part of it asleep."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Thanks Lola and Fluff - both good ideas
We've been on lots of flights together, but always shorter ones of 1.5-ish hours; last time was just over two weeks ago, and the only thing that saved me was having two seats (aisle + window) so she could climb around and explore. Next time it's one of those big long haul planes with 3 + 4 + 3 seats; I'm really hoping we'll get an empty seat next to us, but I know those flights are usually full, so I might be stuck with her on my lap for 7 hours. Not sure I'd even be able to eat, as knowing her she'd grab all the food! The outbound flight leaves at 11am, so there's unlikely to be much sleep involved; the return flight is overnight, so I have slightly higher hopes for that one. Although if she doesn't sleep, I'll be stuck with a grumpy child in the dark!
Lola, that does sound embarrassing - although at least the passengers around you were laughing; it's much worse when they give you angry looks...My lifesaver last time was blueberries - I agree that food is good, but you need stuff that will keep them occupied for a while. Giving her bluberries one by one worked well - and then she got to put some into my mouth every time she was starting to get bored. Sadly we can't eat blueberries for 7 hours :rotfl:

Someone else (sorry can't remember who, have just been reading pages and pages of ideas!) suggested wrapping each item in cheap wrapping paper - I think I'll try this as my LO loves unwrapping stuff
Where would be a good place to buy really cheap things that could go in a goodie bag? I normally buy 'quality' stuff that will last, so have no idea where to go for inexpensive stuff! Poundshops?
ETA: Uhm, that sounds very un-MSE, doesn't it?...0 -
Nutella: I would try Homebargains, B&M, Poundland shop around a bit and you should get some good little bits for not too much. Also split up little sets eg a set of pencil, rubber, notepad could be wrapped as 3 little things.
Sounds like you've got some good ideas.x0 -
Happy 18 months Aiden0
