  • Hello all

Still here just seem to be mega busy right now. Non working day today so off to meet two friends for lunch with a trip to the park inbetween.

House sold again so fingers crossed its third time lucky!

Re baby groups, I think its hit and miss what you get. I enjoyed a few but there are some that are too groupy and new people struggle to fit in. I loved aqua tots though, we still go now every other Friday.

Have a good day all xxxx

  • Third time Sunshine?! Fingers crossed this is the one :)

After me complaining that G was out of sorts all week my happy boy seems to be back today :T. Probably going to jinx it for the rest of the day but we've had no moaning at all yet, and he's been happy staying in and playing at home :D. Soft play later too :D

I agree groups are hit and miss. I've been lucky I think. I think once they get mobile its easier as you spend more time chasing after them so there's less pressure to keep up conversation for the whole time than when they just lie on the mat. New groups don't bother me so much now as I know that even if no one else is very talkative I can just play with George, and he's always happy to see me :o

  • Hello all

rarely if ever post on here now so busy - my monkey has just turned 3 at the end of Aug, I work 4 days a week and also do some self employed work as a maternity night nanny and babysitter.

I have been back at work since he was 9mths old initially 3 days until he was 13mths and then 4 days, he does 2 days of a childminder and 2 days of nursery good mix of childcare for him and keeps costs down for us. He will start school next yr 3 days after his 4th birthday and that is a little scary but sure he will do fine.

we moved house a month ago and so have really stretched ourselves finacially so have been tightening the belt.

    Hope everyone is well.

We recently (in May) did a 4hrs flight total travel from home to hotel was about 8hrs if you include the hanging around airport either side and transfers!! My little one was an angel he was ubber excited, he had a trunki filled with books, colouring and snacks ++++ we also brought a meal deal for him (as well as us) in boots for the plane, but best recommendation is a portable dvd player - we ended up buying a dual in car 9" screen one as didnt like the flimsy pop up lid ones and got a good deal anyway on the one we brought it has battery life of 2.5hrs which broke up the journey, as well as many toilet trips and a bit of a snooze. (yes some bonkers woman decided it was a good idea to potty train toddler 3 wks before holiday - he was dry day and night though within 10days)
  • With regards to baby groups I was the pregnant lady who said never ever going to any well by 7wks old I was at a breastfeeding group and by 10wks old doing something every other day from yoga to run of mill baby groups and baby massage and think by 4mths we were doing things most days!!!

we did baby swimming on a sun as husband could join in as well we did it from 4-9mths and then husband took him on own to a local pool every sun morning as I was night nannying on a sat night for 3mths.

I've met a few people I click with at post-natal pilates (which is great because it's not about sitting there staring at babies). We now see each other outside of pilates and do baby stuff like soft play and whatnot (pub really if I'm honest).

My advice would be to try to find some like-minded people - and for that you might need to suffer groups for a while - and then go off-piste and do your own thing. Now I've met a few other mums there's no way I'm ever going to sing wind the bobbin up again.

Met some nice people on here too but you're all a bit far-flung to meet regularly.

  • Fluff nutter that made me laugh re wind the bobbin up.

From all the groups I went to I am in regular contact with two mums and occasional contact with another 2.

The groups which are themed around an activity - massage, pilates, yoga, swimming - tend to be better than unstructured ones where you sit around supping a cup of something revolting and invariably caffeine-free whilst a load of NCT fascists ignore you. I hated those.

Isn't it typical the ONE day OH offers to 'have the baby' in the morning that DS doesn't wake up till half 9!! (Usally its 7:15 on the dot without fail!!)

Its actally made things worse (not that its OH or DS fault lol) because its now 2:40pm and he has skipped his morning nap...and still isn't tired!!! So I havn't had my usal break in morning lol...

    He's a lucky sod I swear...
People don't know what they want until you show them.

Yeah there're some mums I say hi and have a brief chat with but then others that I really get on with and can be "me" with. Just had a nice afternoon at soft play chatting with them while the littlies ran riot - perked me up as got some not great feedback on some work just as I got there so was glad to see a friendly face!

Ps I normally have some urgent errand to run at the post office/bank/supermarket just as its getting to singing time ;)
