My LO no longer screams when I brush her teeth! :j After ten months of twice-daily battles, she has finally accepted that this is one activity that isn't going to go away and has decided to cooperate instead. Phew! :D

Supersaver, hope you made the most of today and that tomorrow isn't too bad!

Gilly, hope things calm down soon as you all settle into your new surroundings.

    Good night all x
  • Hi Everyone, first time I've been able to post in ages. Just wanted to say thanks to you all for responding to my 'plea' for advice on napping. We're basically just doing whatever it takes to get baba to sleep in the day for her naps and doing this seems to have helped her sleeping at night too. Appreciated your responses so thanks, just couldn't get back on to say thanks :)

Nutella - excellent progress on teethbrushing. It is still flung around here at bed time as thought it is a light saber!!

Gilly - Hope the move is going ok :)

Quick question, is it ok to make up a bottle for an 8 month old the night before and put it in the fridge ready for the morning? I know on the carton they say don't make it up in advance, but I've got the older generation telling me that they used to and "look at you, your fine" (debatable!:D).

Back at work now :(Saffagal - my hours are going to change and I had to wait until nearer the time before we could discuss...well they are due to change in 3-4 weeks and I'm still waiting to know what I'm doing....I only told them 16 months ago that I was going on maternity so clearly they haven't had enough time to think about it *eye roll* keep pressing them for answers, its hard enough with childcare when you know your hours!

good wishes to all mums and babies!
  • Moneypenny I have always made bottles up, with a screaming baby wanting his food, I was not willing to wait 20 minutes for the bottle to cool.

Well, we bought a highchair yesterday and then tried lo with some baby rice! Nearly 25 weeks now so thought we would get him started!
Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!

Moneypenny, we have two toothbrushes - one for brushing and one to play with :) Re bottles - I always made up a 24-hour supply in one go and kept them in the fridge.
  • Hello,

Well I survived my first day back, was alright and most of the day was spent in meetings and training, the real fun starts tomorrow when the pupils come back!

That is a good idea Nutella having 2 tooth brushes, I've just had a battle with Gracie brushing her teeth, she wants to hold the brush and do my teeth, will be buying another brush at the weekend!

Hoping you ladies could give me some ideas, it's my wife's 30th birthday next month and I'm completely stuck what to get her! Really want something special after such a hard year, she suffers from ptsd and pnd which she sees a councillor for every week and she deserves something special. She has a full Pandora bracelet which she wears every day, toying with the idea of a new ring, but any other suggestions would be wonderful. I have a reasonable budget to spend!

Hope everybody is well, weather is going to rubbish in my neck of the woods all weekend, seems Autumn has arrived!

Supersaver, glad you survived Day 1 - at least you've only got one day with the pupils and then you've got the weekend to recover :o That's lovely that you want to get your wife something special for her birthday. It's difficult to suggest something when I don't know what sorts of things she likes. I remember a debate on here a while back where some people said they'd love some 'me' time (e.g. pampering - a spa day, a massage and facial or someting similar) whereas others didn't feel they needed or wanted to be on their own/be away from their LO. So I guess a lot depends on which camp your wife falls into! If she's into jewellery (and it sounds like she is :)), then maybe something personalised and family-related? There's a good selection here. Personally, I think the handprint footprint necklace is beautiful (though note the delivery time) and it was recommended by someone on here who was very pleased with it. Other than this, are there any particular activities that she's into, any hobbies or passions (I once paid for a chocolate making workshop for a foodie friend - she loved it!) or big dreams that you could make come true (mine is a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti - I guess the budget version would be a helicopter ride over London! :rotfl:) You could maybe have a look at somewhere like Red Letter Days for ideas if you think an 'experience' is worth considering. Or an 'experience' involving you and Gracie too - maybe a weekend away somewhere? Oh, and a lie in on the day itself of course. You can't beat that :D

Supersaver, only today to do then it's the weekend! I think getting her a ring would be lovely. A fab day out for the three of you would be nice too.
Nigella, hooray for the toothbrush breakthrough.
Today is not great here. Feeling really low. Yesterday was busy, did morning 1hr walk (he has to do something in the morning or gets very grumpy) then church toddler group in afternoon, then a work evening training session. It was too much. I'm shattered today as I was go, go, go. He only had sleeps when I was walking of coming back from group so no sit down time for me. Try to get more rest today, but just feel like I'll be tired forever and can't seem to get on top of house which is a sh*t hole as everything is everywhere as can't get round to cleaning or putting away as normally do that when he's asleep. Just the thought of finding the time to wash and dry my hair this morning brought me to tears & can't make it "last" another day.
Sorry guys, I know everyone has felt like this at some point, it's just my turn.
