  • We recently moved our son to a big bed, and he has been having a hard time adjusting, however we go on holiday tomorrow where they only have big beds so I wanted him to be prepared. Fingers crossed he sleeps well on holiday.

It's typical that just when they are sleeping well, something comes along to screw it up!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend?

Thats interesting, your LO is about 3-4mnths older than mine and I was wondering only a few days ago about the bed transition. How did your LO do? Did you go to a proper bed or just remove sides from cotbed? Did you have a bed guard thing too?

    Where are you all?... :o

Hope everyone's well - good day here, but nothing much to report. I promise I won't tell you about mowing the lawn, doing the laundry or cutting LO's nails*, exciting as all those things were :)

Sunshine, any news from your prospective buyer?

*Although I will say that I've finally found a solution for finger nails (toe nails have never been a problem, as she can use both hands to investigate the contents of my make up bag, in which the nail clipper lives): Pingu on YouTube. Sit LO on my lap, find an episode of Pingu, and off we go. She'll sit still and barely notice that I'm cutting her nails :D

So there - never let it be said that this thread isn't bursting with riveting information! :p I'm off to bed in a minute - good night all x
  • Hey Nutella :)

Very quiet here...havent seen mrsh2b for ages actually??

Sounds exciting, and a fab tip for nail snipping. I do it when he is asleep!

The buyers who loved my house and gave me all the bumf about how they better be quick or someone will snap it up...well they went and offered on another one of my mums propertys!!! In a really rough estate too! Its 15k cheaper than ours so maybe they couldnt afford it, who knows. Back to the hunt!

Aiden has eaten alot better today, nursery told me he is the only one in his room who likes lychees!! :)

  • Hello all, ladies and gent!

Haven't posted for a few days but have been reading!

In the last three days my lo can now sit unaided, I sit behind him because he likes to fling himself backwards but he can sit on his own and grab toys in front of him.

We're going to buy a highchair this week an hopefully try lo with some rice on Saturday, he'll be 25 weeks, however were still not there with milk at the minute. I don't think weve ever cracked the right combination for his reflux. I can't wait till he's off milk and just on food!

The weather has gone very autumny now, it was raining this morning! I've put lo in a 2.5 tog sleeping bag, he's been waking up with cold legs even in a sleepsuit!

    How is everyone else?

Edit: hello sunshine, thanks for missing me! :D

  • Evening all, we've still got a fussy LO over here, can't still be from jabs so not sure what's up, maybe a growth spurt or something? Exhausting as she wants constant attention or starts crying.

Re: nail biting, I chew hers and she looks at me like I'm going to kill her, it's quite funny. Then she realises its ok and sucks her fingers again
  • Sparkles, cuddle her as much as you can, my lo doesn't want to be cuddled anymore and I hate it, bring back my baby that wants me snuggling him on the sofa all day long! At least I wouldn't have to do the house work so much haha :D

    Hi hun,
I would say don't rush it! I read quite a bit about it (and wrote a blog post which you may find useful) and they say that later is better, closer to 3 years old if possible as it can be a big emotional wrench for them. We kinda have no choice due to our holiday tomorrow. Anyway, we just took one side off the cot to start with, but on holiday all sides will be off. I have to admit he didn't like it at first, and kept crying at bed time, although only for about 5 minutes, although it was disconcerting because he used to love his bed. The last 4 nights, however, he has not cried and seems better.

The great thing is he hasn't tried to get out yet. Guess we will see.

I didn't buy a guard for the bed as I wanted to see if he fell out, which he hasn't. We have just put pillows on the floor.

Hello, I've just been reading your blog, you wrote about exactly what I'm going through with my 24 week old (Nate was 19 wks I think you said) I am offering 5 bottles, but he may have anything from 100-160 out of a bottle (sorry dont know oz) he can go 4 hrs and again will only have half a bottle. I thought it was just our lo, can you remember what happened? Was it just a phase?

    Yay, signs of life! :D

Sunshine, that's rubbish about the house :( Re nails - I used to cut them when she was asleep, but there's no way that would work now; she's a light sleeper like her mother... Great that Aiden is eating again - but now I really want to track down some lychees to find out if my LO would eat them! I love them - bought carrier bags full of them when I was in Vietnam a few years back!

MrsH, yay for sitting! That's the stage at which my pregnancy pillow got a new lease of life as baby protector :) It travelled around the house with us - I've even got photos of her sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor unpacking shopping with the pillow behind her.

Oh, and re cuddles - you might experience a revival later on; my LO's almost 16 months and she's really into cuddles at the moment. She wraps her arms around my neck (or daddy's neck) and we have a nice long hug :) If she sees OH and I having a cuddle, she'll stretch her arms out and come and join in. Family cuddles are fab :D
