I haven't been eating properly since I had lo (only 4 weeks) I guess that's what happens when youve got a newborn! I'm under my ore pregnancy weight, which sounds good but my belly is jubbly from the emptiness. Oh and I seem to have aquired a line, you know like you see on pregnant bellies? Well i didn't have it pregnant but I now have a brown line! Gr!
Anyway I think I'll prob just have some cheese on toast. If I manage to put lo down, anyone had problems with a clingy baby? Hell sleep on me and then as soon as I put him in his basket he stretches and rubs his face and wakes himself up? Then cries till I cuddle him again? My come uppance for saying I wanted to be needed lol!
Banama I hope your feeling happier soon
I'll probably be having a seafood cocktail sandwich filler sandwich & a bag of skipsMaybe some pickled onions too! George is 9wks + 1 day & there's days where I find it difficult to eat properly too but I guess it's part & parcel of being a new mum
I'm also back under my pre-pregnancy weight which I'm pleased about but I'm looking forward to going back to the gym & doing some classes againNot for weightloss but more for my fitness & my mental health.
As for a clingy baby, George goes through these phases. Some days he's perfectly happy to sit & watch me get on with things like baking, other days he just wants to be cuddled & when you try to put him down he wakes up again, no matter how soundly asleep he was when you tried to put him down! I just take pleasure in knowing he enjoys my cuddles & when he's happy to watch I take pleasure in being able to get things done
Today I'm hoping to get a load of washing done, walk down to the post office to post some letters I want proof of postage for, I might go to tesco whilst I'm nearby & then I'll walk back homeOH is on a 9-5 today so it'll be nice to be able to have tea with him & for George to get some Daddy time

Dizzi, can you complain to the post office?
I need a mummys opinion
We're having an engagement gathering in a few weeks and as we're not a 'party' type of couple we've booked a private function room and will be having a drinks reception. Background music, nibbles and just a good chance for all our family and friends to catch up. It's exactly our kind of thing.
However we have about 10 - 15 kids coming ranging from 3 months (LOs baby friends) up to 10 years. We've had a gathering like this before and all my cousins were fine and played with each other. However this time we invited friends kids so there are more and one friend has commented her kids (3, 6 and 10) are going to last about an hour before getting bored and would we be doing anything for the kids / would we like her to help.
I'm really unsure. We can't afford much (we've used all our spare money on the venue hire and some food) and theres no space to make a toy corner (her suggestion was she could bring some boxes of toys for the kids to play with in a corner, but there just isn't the room! We've maxed out the venue!). Theres also no outdoor space (other than the smokers balcony) so they can't play outdoors.
If you went to a party like this would your kids get bored?
The only idea I've had is maybe like a photo challenge or something to keep them entertained? Or maybe a little gift pack with a work sheet or something for them to complete?
What do you think? I would never have thought about providing anything!0 -
Dizzi, I did not say ANYONE had palmed their children off. In fact I've been trying hard to explain that it was not meant to offend a, was a poor choice of words and is related to my current situation where my family want to have Dewi just for thecsake of it.
I cannot do much more to explain myself or apologise. I have often offered you my advice and opinion, I'd hate you to leave here and our support over something so minor.0 -
Peanut, bubbles always go down well with kids and perhaps a few cheesey/kids songs so they could have a little dance. I can't imagine they'll get too bored as there should be lots of people to play with.0

Why so much drama ladies?
Live and let live. If we dont like what someone has said can we just ignore it? This is primaraly a support group and I dont think when Kira set it up she wanted bickering and petty arguments.
Lets just feel the love with noone leaving!
I'll be back later on my phone and its not the best for typing here. xThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

Had issues for a while with him jamming things in that won't fit properly - so this morning he jams a small packet through, and the certificate after - everything's got totally mangled, the packaging on the packet is shredded and the birth certificate looks like it's been fished out of the office waste basket it's that screwed up.
Great day.
That's terrible about the birth certificateOur postman does the same sometimes, it's really frustrating when they could just ring the bell & hand it over instead of trying to ram it into the postbox when it won't fit!
I think it's a shame how things are being perceived at times on this thread, it's been a great support to me ever since George was born. I thinks there's been some badly worded posts (which have been apologised for I believe) but its highly likely we'll all have different opinions, we'll all say things differently & there's probably hormones flying around everywhere. It would be a shame for people to feel that they have to leave or that they're being judged (for want of a better word).
Motherhood is a minefield & I've definitely experienced the competitive mummies that have been spoken of. I'm a firm believer that as a mum you know what is best for your baby, you & your situation. Yes, I chose to breastfeed & I'm lucky enough to still be breastfeeding 9wks on but I don't judge those who have made the decision not to, chose to stop or have been unable to. I use disposable nappies but I don't expect to be judged for that decision by those who use washable. I've left George with a friend once for a couple of hours, OH has taken him to the shops a couple of times to allow me space to get myself dressed in one go but I don't do it often & that's my decision but I don't judge those who take time away from their child for whatever reason. I will be going back to work next year & George will be going to nursery when me or OH isn't able to have him but I don't judge those who go back earlier or who don't go back at all.
I stand by every decision I've made since getting pregnant & since having George. And although I don't always agree with or understand decisions made by others, I'm not going to judge them for them as I don't know the basis behind those decisions. I'm also not going to force my opinions on others although if someone asks then I'm perfectly happy to offer my opinion but will not take offence if they chose a different one.
That's just my 2p & hopefully I've not offended anyone by chucking it out there0 -
I am not commenting any more on the subject this morning.

Oh no
That must be horrible for him (and you!), I hope he feels better soon. Have they given him anything for it?
Ahh thank you. Yeah we have some penicillin and I have to alternate between calpol and nurofen. Hopefully he will start feeling better very soon.

Treasure hunt! Do lots of (simple) 'clues' with something fun (but small and cheap like bubbles and crafts) to find at the end.
Oh and take the mum up on her offer of help. The more hands the better!
Poor noah sammieMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o
