Does anyone have a Quinny Zapp stroller? I'm thinking about getting a lightweight stroller - our travel system is really bulky and heavy and I'm tired of logging it around airports and fighting to get on buses :o I like the look of the Quinny Zapp, but am also contemplating a Maclaren Globetrotter (although I really really want another 3-wheeler; I love them :)). Alternatively, if anyone has any recommendations for lightweight 3-wheelers I'd love to know! Looking to spend no more than £150 (new - not second hand).

I liked the look of the Zapp as it folds up really small apparently, but a friend said the handles are fixed height and fairly low in comparison to some others so was no good for me (6ft tall). I can't recommend our
Cosatto highly enough, lightweight, easy umbrella fold and lies flat too.

I was chatting to someone the other day about the quinny zapp & they were saying there are much better strollers around. I think she said the only thing it had going for it was how small it folded up (and the zapp extra doesn't fold up as small either), it doesn't recline from what I recall but don't know if that would bother you or not :/ you can get them in pretty good nick 2nd hand for pretty cheap so you could try it out & then invest in a new one if you really like it but you'd not lose as much if you don't? Sorry I don't have any recommendations as we're still using a quinny zapp as George isn't old enough for a stroller yet but I hope I've helped somehow :)

Ban them from being present when the midwife visits. If you don't feel able to do this, have a word with your midwife before she comes and ask her to do it. She can breezily say something like 'I like to see my ladies alone - it's policy' or whatever and then it won't be your fault.

Don't allow your family to bully you, dizzi.

You can't actually argue with my mother - she was obviously in and out of the labour suite when I was being admitted and readmitted... at one point was making her usual "jokes" with the sensitivity of a housebrick and criticising me... the student midwife who was in there was horrified at her behaviour and when she'd gone admitted to me that the blood pressure reading they'd just done was off the scale (and I normally have resolutely normal blood pressure)... tried to have it out with her about how I'm sick of being labelled a neurotic mother by her and it descended into a 3 hour weeping and wailing storm about my utter ingratitude as a daughter (this is usual - me asking her not to open my post resulted in a 4 year sulk)... very much have to take the path of least resistance with her or life's intolerable!

Thanks for your replies about strollers - helpful as always :) Katie, thanks for the warning about height - OH is tall, so the Quinny is a no-go then! I've done some more research and am now torn between the one I want in an ideal world (Cosatto Yo!) and the far more sensible, hubby-friendly option (OBaby Atlas V2). What to do... Any thoughts on the OBaby Atlas? I think that's what I'm leaning towards at the moment - it's £88 vs. £191 for the Cosatto.

    Embarassing hat alert!

It's meant to be an apple to go with the apples on the top - does kind of look a bit tomatoey though (especially with a jaundiced baby!)... kiddicare's clothes are soooooo cute! (Erin's outfit is surprisingly by C+A - mum picked it up on one of her overseas trips - didn't even realise they were still going!)

  • Morning ladies. I have had a bad night, lo has been up all night, milk is not settling him, wind has been causing him upset. Me and oh are at end of sanity lol lack of sleep!! I woke him up convinced we had lo in bed with us, of course we didn't! Does anyone else dream that? I keep waking up panicked!!
I used to do that with my first when she was newborn - I would wake up convinced I'd just been feeding her in bed.

I have the cosatto Yo! Black jack. I know you are leaning towards the Obaby but just wanted to let you know I have found the cosatto fab. It folds up quite small and the cosy toes attaches really well (doesn't slide down) I'm pretty sure it comes with a 4 year guarantee too, by which time Noah will be walking everywhere. It seems a really comfy pushchair and easy to push.

1 thing I will say though is I have NEVER been able to get the rain cover back in the little bag they give you!! :) It's like the bloody krypton factor!

Dizzi: Please ask your midwife to tell her to leave! I can lend you mine if you want? Loved her to pieces but boy you DON'T cross her!

My midwife came once when I had visits and asked me to go to another room to check if I was healing properly, then asked me if I wanted her to tell my in-laws to leave and let us rest. If you feel it's going to cause you problems to tell them to leave, ask your midwife if she could do it for you since it's creating a lot of stress.

Erin is very cute, is she still upset at having to share mummy? I'm amazed at the fact you dress up your newborn dizzi! 15 weeks here and I can count with the fingers of one hand the days she's been in something else but a cute sleepsuit! I didn't have the energy to bother with mittens, socks and layers. Nappy, vest and sleepsuit, that's her wardrobe at the minute! Add a jacket/coat thingy with hoodie for when we go out. She hates hats and as we were told not to use them indoors because our flat is warm (21C), we had lots and never used any for more than 5min!!

My lo is quite unsettled again. She wants to sleep all day, she's hungry but won't eat much and thanks god for the jumperoo because that's the only thing that is cheering her up. Could it be the teeth moving underneath the gums? I gave her a dose of calpol because she seemed very distress. She had just.woken up, yet she didn't want anything but being bounced back to sleep. It took me from 11:30 to 1pm to put her to sleep the first time, slept half an hour, then went back to sleep at 3:15pm without a feed or anything because she didn't stop crying. The only thing that made her stop was bouncing to sleep again. Does it sound like teething to you?

And sorry for too many questions, the week by week book says I should put her to nap in her cot at certain times to get her used to napping at those times. It also says eventually she will sleep 2-3h for midday nap... My lo sleeps 3-5 times during the day, but only for half an hour each time and no way I can put her in the cot to sleep whilst she's awake, I need to make her sleepy or put her asleep. When did your lo start having long naps? When were you able to put them down to sleep? How did you manage it? I'm trying the gentle way, where you put them sleepy and they fall asleep on their own but I had only little success and only in her moses, we have just assembled the cotbed, so I'll have to start all over again!!!
