Smoking is a mental addiction, it's a habit. Everywhere you go that you've smoked in will prompt you to light up. With me, it's drinking alcohol, going on the phone, driving etc. etc. This is totally normal and as the days mount up not smoking you will not think about it so often. It does work but it does take time and patience. It's not easy, otherwise there wouldn't be so many people quitting then starting again. Be strong, we're all here for you :)

    Hi all,

Got a confession - I fell off the wagon at the weekend :( - have hauled myself back onto it again this week though, and am determined to succeed this time! The reason at the weekend was due to some !!!!!! going on and I ended up in a completely self-destructive mood (heavy drinking & 20 a day) and so this week is a new start for me in lots of ways.

Glad you're all doing OK - am just off to update my sig with the horrible truth!

Adzha - you don't enjoy smoking, otherwise why would you want to quit? Shamelessly borrowing from Allen Carr - did you enjoy your first ever cigarette? We have to train ourselves to like the things, which is why non-smokers can't understand at all why we do it!

I was recommended watercress to help with the cravings - and it does help actually - also carrot sticks can be good as you can swing them about like a fag!

Actually, I enjoyed smoking when I started.
    Now its just a habit.
    Thats why I am quitting.
  • Welcom Adzha and well done - you're doing really well and you're definately in the right place for mutual support/advice and a bit of a larf!!!! My best advice is don't look too far ahead, simply take each second/minute/hour/day as it comes and breathe through the craving. I find big gulps of air in the lungs are really effective - although they can make you light headed lol!!! I think its cause your body is not used to good clean air lol!!!

Well done Storm, one blip doesn't make you smoker, you are beating Mr O'Teen he cannot defeat you!!

Hi Jo hope all is well with you!

Hi Mike I hope things are a little better and calmer for you today!

Hi to everyone else too!! All good in my world - still have the cravings and would still love a ciggie sometimes - but the feeling only last a nano second and then I forget about it. Over two months as a quitter now, I still can't quite believe it - but still can't afford to be complacent - don't think I ever will be again.

Take care all - love and hugs

    STILL Never complacent but confident
    My debt is GOING DOWN!!!!
