And thankyou Jo .. a "well done" from the thread originator
Did y9ou have any idea how popular/supportive etc this thread would become????
To everyone still lurking and thinking about it .. you can see the response and support that's provided here just by the responses I received after a month... the warm fuzzy feeling that brings is reason enough to quit

Hi all, silkquit tells me I've so far not spent £76.37 on cigarettes! That is pretty amazing - don't know where it's gone but at least it's not up in smoke!:rotfl:
I think I can say that I have not had a craving today. Had a bit of a hangover from the dept do last night and a very busy day and it just didin't cross my mind! I actually feel as though I gave up ages ago and not just two weeks and two days!
Well done waspeze! :T
Keep it up everyone x

Did not quite get round to being smoke free today. i feel like a bit of a faliure !! My reasons are not even worth going into as basically they are exscuses tired ,friends smoking, fed up,feeling down blah blah blah and after reading your lovely kind words of encouragement i realised theese exscuses will be there wether i smoke or not .
So i have broke all the ciggarettes into tiny pieces and thrown them in the bin and i have saved myself two before i go to bed and tomorrow is a brand new day .
I have not told anyone about my thoughts to stop smoking and today at work there was a discussion about another team members personal hygene nothing nasty or spitefull but it was noted that the girl smelled of cigarettes and i became paronoid that the same was being said about me !!! probably is seeing as i am now almost a 20 a day smoker .
not a good thing
if I can do it so can you, you just have to want it.

I got some tablets off the doctors to help me at first (champix) they didn't, but then I realised that if I took one in the morning when I was absolutely gagging for a cig, and later in the evening when I was going out of my head for a cig, this worked, but what I also did is had a shower before bed, brushed my teeth, washed out my mouth with mouth wash, and gave my nose a good clean with a flannel and some Q-tips/cotton buds, this then stopped me from wanting anymore, and put everything that would make me think about having a cig, in the bin, then told myself this is it tomorrow is the new smoke free me, then I went to bed, and I haven't smoked since that day I got up was Thursday 29th May 2008.
