  • Just a quickie to see if anyone else is having problems with wheezing?
I'm now nearly 8 weeks smoke free and although cough is loads better I am still quite wheezy and coughing up yuck! After so many years of 20 a day I am not surprised that I am still clearing out my lungs but wondered how long it took others to feel as though there lungs were healthy again?

  • I refuse to stop because of what someone once told me.
Nature wants the human race to survive. However, it does not depend on us because we are not its only invention.

    Three weeks!

Well done Schmikel on 8 weeks! I don't know how soon you'll feel the benefits and I suppose everyone's different. Also with all the nasty bugs around at the moment it could be you have something unrelated to not smoking. Hope you feel better soon.

Good luck everyone - we're giving ourselves the best Christmas presents of all!

Hi schmickle. Congratulations on almost 8 weeks!!! :TStill early days yet and I'm not surprised that you're still clearing your lungs of muck and rubbish. I still wheeze after 10 years and on exertion it's worse. Though to be honest smoking has left me with mild asthma for which I use inhalers. Maybe a word with your Dr may help. I would worry unduly though as your body is still in the early days of getting fit. The main thing to remember is - what you would have been like IF you hadn't quit!!!

joop, you have some very wise words there, especially in the last sentence! :T Keep up your great work joop! :D

Hi feedie! I'm sute it's true about the New Year quitters, so you'd best come back to help out - yes???! :j So you have a wii fit too! Aren't they wonderful, I love mine, quite addictive too which isn't a bad thing to shed some pounds.

Keep strong everyone and whatever you do, don't listen to the devlish voice in your head as it'll soon be gone, but it doesn't want to let go ....make it!!!!!:T

Hope everyone's have a good time and too busy to post  .

I have now succumbed to the lurgie and have a horrid cold. Hope it goes off a bit by Christmas day.

Will be interesting if it goes to my chest - I used to guage how bad my cough was with how difficult it was to smoke  . I actually thought it helped loosen things up! We will see...

Hi joop, such bad news about the cold, but like you, I also hope it'll be at least a bit drier by Christmas Day. I hope you'll feel much better too. One thing's for sure, you'll not stand any risk of getting any chest infection as a result of puffing!:D

I'm sure the others have all been way too busy to come on here today, but good luck all and stay strong throughout the festivities. Imagine us all looking at you     IF you should be tempted!!!     ;)

For all those who will be here earlier than I am tomorrow:

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Very healthy and Happy New Year! SMOKE-FREE :T :j :rotfl:

  • Merry Christmas everybody! I hope you all have a great time and to follow-up what Sue says resist temptation!

I am lucky I am with non-smokers and I do not drink! It is just food now - I have put on a few pounds already and will work hard on cutting that down a bit after the festivities!

    best wishes
