  • Hi Mummy2mygirls - I'd suggest using the NHS smokefree support services - I've found them really good and supportive too. I go every 2 weeks now to do my CO2 levels and get a repeat prescription (after just 2.5 days off the fags, I had the CO2 of a non smoker - how proud was I??!! :D ).

In terms of support from you - just try not to be hard on him, or disapproving. Let him know you're proud of him and respect how hard it can be, and how well he is doing. I've not got anyone else supporting me (my friends know I've quit and tell me how proud they are and how well I'm doing too, which is fab).
Good luck to your DH with quitting :j

Congratulations Schmickle and Eriberri as 2 months is a long time!!! :T :j Very well done to you both, well deserved too!

BB_bunny, apologies for 'thinking' it was a year :o, it must have been the Christmas part of your post and my own success on that very day. Ah well....! Very well done indeed anyway! You're doing wonderfully well with all that great exercise, keep it up.

MoonRose77, well done, but if possible alter you bedtime a little so you don't think 'ciggie', it can make quite a difference.

joop almost to that vital first month free than, you should be really, really proud of your achievement so far! Now concentrate on the weight loss, it'll keep your mind concentrated more. Good luck in shifting the cold!

Thanks for that Feedie, I'll take your word for the title! Such a great time for you already, won't be too long now before that magical 12 month!

nirelandguy, all the very best in the next attempt, let's hope it's the one you want!!! :j I'm so pleased you came back to tell us, keep talking to us now as that might help a great deal. I wish you SO much luck, everyone else too!:j

BlueIsTheColour Good to see you and all the very best of what it takes to quit for good this time. We'll be thinking of you tomorrow and willing you on to succeed. You've done it once and I'm sure you'll do it again!!! :j:D

mummy2mygirls I really do hope your DH can join us all in quitting as it'll be marvellous for you and especially the girls if he can do it. I've sent you a pm to hopefully help him and I hope he takes notice of it, especially the water OJ and exercise as it truly helps no end. I've told you all that helped me and those tips have also helped so many here. Also suggest he tries sucking ice poles or sour lemon sweets, you'd be amazed how such things can help. It would be great if he could join up and chat here, he doesn't need to say who he is, but we've got several great guys herethat he could chat to as well as us fair maidens!!! :A I wish him welll, you ALL too!

I plan to stop smoking this week after 11 years (and i'm only 23:eek:)

QuitKeeper tells me i will have saved £1,000 by 6th September 09

That's if i stop smoking on NY day of course.

I'm always so miserable about money saving, not affording bills etc. But £1000 in 9 months is a disgrace to be wasting.

Purely, i'm doing it for the money and of course, my 5 year old son. I still enjoy smoking, in fact i love it, but i will have to get over it.

Hi BeenieCat and welcome to the thread where you could well kick that habit, with determination and the knowledge of just how great your health will be as a result of quitting ...and just look at the money you already KNOW you'll be saving! You know it makes sense to quit NOW and keep as healthy as possible for you and especially for your dear son. You have the PM now, read through it and act on it - please and remember that if you can stay strong and rid yourself of ciggies, you'll give yourself the best Christmas Gift ever, the gift of life!!! Go on, persevere!

Keep coming on to the thread and telling us exactly how you're feeling, that alone will benefit you so very much. We're all here to help you through the best thing you'll ever do for yourself - and please don't listen to your head when it (after being warped by nicotine) tells you you really enjoy it!!! Prove to it that it's just rubbish, and you'll learn that so quickly, it's not just me saying that to get you to quit, it's knowledge of what my brain was doing to me all that time ago!!!

Go on BeenieCat, show yourself you CAN finish with them and that you WILL.:j I wish you all the luck possible and renewed good health!!! 11 years is a relatively short time....don't let yourself go on and on year after year letting your health detriorate, kick back NOW! :T

Good luck to all of you who will become new non smokers tomorrow :)

Just to let you know I managed after 40 years on fags and Ive been off them for over 2 years now - over £4000 saved and nice white teeth, no wheezing or coughing like an old hag - skin clearer and cleaner (spend some of the savings on facials ladies and gents :))

Download the silkquit meter to give you a boost every time you check to see how many fags you havent smoked and how much money you have saved and plan now what you will spend the extra money on - rather than killing yourself with cancer sticks, make a list of treats you will give yourself or someone else :)

Remember, a day at a time - "today I wont smoke" . And dont hide that half fag in the house - get shot of any temptation and dont let jealous mates try to get you back on the addiction.

    Good luck all.
