    Morning all,

Mike, thanks for posting and being so honest, we WILL all get there eventually, let's just hope that it's sooner rather than later! Keep posting and try and get some inspiration to stop again.

Jo, I think being a closet smoker is the worst, you feel so guilty all the time and I don't know about you but I always felt like a sneaky teenager about to be caught by me mum

IDA, I'm going on Monday, you're going tomorrow right? Have a lovely smokefree DFW time ;)

I'll get you all a signed photo of Chico!!

Precisely - being caught by a 10 year old would be worse !

Doing okay this morning, I have one left, been busy ebaying and cleaning. Tomorrow is my stop date exactly one year and week after I started again.

Warning you may get bored of me over the next couple of months

Hope you have a great holiday, even with Chico !

Hiya all. Jo & IDA have a super holiday and keep the faith.

Helloworld I know where your coming from. Alcohol lowers one's natural inhibitions so don't blame yourself, blame the barmaid :rotfl:.

I will give up again when I am ready. I, like another person am a secret smoker. My wife and I gave up 7 months ago and she hasn't started again, but I have because when I've had a few beers the monkey on my shoulder whispers to me and I can't resist. Sad old sod me :o, never mind, I'll just keep reading your posts and hope.
  • My dh was secretly smoking too mike - but I was suspicious, to many reasons to visit the garage, etc -lol. It was his idea that we quit and he was worried that I would start again - he isn't smoking in front of me or in the house which is fine. Like you he will quit when he is ready! Take care, keep posting here and look forward to you joining the quitters!
Frugal we never get bored on here, when I first quit I was posting sometimes every hour - it really made the difference between success or failure and I will be eternally grateful to Jo for starting the thread and everyone replying for keeping me motivated!
I'm off tomorrow Jo, although looking at the forecast has made me glum - we have a severe weather warning (gales and torrential rain) for Tuesday/Wednesday and Autumnul weather moving in - oh the joy of a British summer! You should be okay forecast good for south-east, so have a paddle in the sea for me!!
Take care - love and hugs

Been sitting in the garden for an hour, started a new book, can't get into it, had last cigarrette at 14.20, now I have an empty packet, off to dust Allen Carr off with renewed enthusiasm.

Always feeling restless and tense, I know it's the nicotine.

  • IDA & Jo Have a fabulous holiday - would love to see a video of Chico please!!!!
You secret smokers had me thinking and then rolloing about laughing at a memory of myself many years ago. DH has asthma - really badly and when we got together I was in the first flush of .....well .... something. I decided to 'prove' myself by giving up - but ended up secretly imbibing - only I used to strip the top half of my clothes off, go into the bathroom, put a shower cap on, then turned the shower on (was told it hides the smell fo smoke) and hung out of the bathroom window.
Great, it meant that I could still smoke. It worked for a week or two, until I realised that our bathroom is on the side of the house and I was clearly visible to half the houses in our road (its curved). As I was reaching this devastating conclusion one of my students walked down the aforementioned road, gave a wave and shouted 'Hiya miss, what are you doing?'
So there we are, at least you've not been caught topless by an impressionable teenager!!!! (I hasten to add that he couldn't see anything, it was just obvious that I had not jumper on from my bare shoulders)

Keep going everyone, we really are brilliant - smug comments are allowed - we're going through ' the mill' at the mo.

Thanks to this fantastic site and it's amazing people, we have paid over £63, 000 off - just over half way!!!

  • OOPS, forgot to post this at the end - got carried away with the shame of my 'exposure'.
FBS - I would make a series of abusive signs for your workmate - A4 paper folded lengthways so it can stand as a long card IYSWIM - you could write 'Spine of an amoeba' - 'GIT' - 'You Stink' etc. Normally I would be incredibly supportive of someone, but if you have to sit there all day and be tempted by the pong - and it is wonderful - then someone has to suffer - yes I'm still feeling the strain and wanting to rip people's heads off!!

Don't worry girls, we'll keep the flag flying - bumping merrily to help ourselves and others - you've left the thread in safe hands - between us we'll sort it.

    Keep going all,
    Tilly

  • Hello quitters, have a great holiday Jo and IDA. Now you have stopped smoking you can lots of treats because of the money saved. That's what I keep telling 'im indoors.
Had terrible craving yesterday for Cadburys flake or their finger of fudge. I can't give in though must not put on too much weight until after DDs wedding then it can all hang out. I could almost taste the flake and feel it melting in my mouth. Why is chocolate sooooo scrummy?
Went for a lovely long walk today up hill and down dale breathing in lovely fresh air. Then stopped off for a nice meal on the money I have saved from not smoking. No pudding though.
Take care all, keep on quitting,
    ILA

Oh jeez, forgetting what everyone's said already!!

IDA, have a wonderful time if I don't speak to you before, how long you away for?

Tilly, lol your story made me giggle, I'm sure as much as me and Jo (Frugal) have been hiding it your story tops everything! Poor you!

Mike, glad you're still posting on here :) How about thinking about quitting for a few days and try in a week or so, wait till I come back of hols (tues 21st) and I'll be on here as much as I can to help you thru?

ILA, glad you're still doing well - how's the champix going?

Right I'm off to bed now, had a good day with no worries. Might be a different story Monday morning when we drive off to South England, I hate driving where I don't know and so I know there are lots of tears on the way
