Ah IDA that is terrible. Are they insured? People are just scum sometimes. My bf's bike was stolen while he was taking his disabled sister down to their basement flat in the stair lift. Whoever did it would have seen what was going on. Just try to resist the urge to smoke. I know how you feel, I wanted one all last week, and have dreamt about it for 3 nights! Just remember that the craving will pass in time. Have a big glass of water and take some deep breaths x

Oh poor IDA and her family. What rotten luck you're having, and you're still not smoking. I'd be on my 5,000th fag and 40th bottle of whisky by now. I think you are doing magnificently, keep it up. Keep your chin up old thing and hope for better luck in the future. :grouphug:

I nearly gave yesterday, but had a committee meeting in the evening and a little voice whispered to me "You might get streessed having to listen to all the rubbish that other members say. You know that you are the only sensible one there", So bought another 10 B&H :o.

Never mind, try try try again.
  • Just distracting myself and breathing out the thought that a cigarette would make this all better -lol!!
    I stopped smoking 25th June 2007
    STILL Never complacent but confident
    My debt is GOING DOWN!!!!
  • tut,tut people ... what is going on - found this on page 6, who's been sneaking behind the bike sheds when the teacher is away??? Remember you promised Jo you'd keep this up the board - now come on let us know how you're getting on and lets try and convince some "wannabe ex-smoker" to take the plunge.
I'm off on my hols now (at last) keep the faith - if I can avoid the fags then anyone can.
love and hugs to you all

  • IDA - have a well deserved wonderful holiday - how you've gone through this week and not had a smoke is really quite amazing!! Well Done You.

Had a friend around today who smokes - whilst I still love the smell whilst is is 'fresh' it is truly grim afterwards - eugh.
So do you think that this may just be it, after 6 weeks or so, do you really think that the teenage rebellion could be over after nearly 30 years!!!! OOH, need to ponder that.
Keep strong everyone and take care,

IDA, have a lovely time on your holiday! I think a couple of people have mentioned this, but I've had the same dream 3 or 4 nights running. I smoke a whole packet of 20 and then feel really upset afterwards that I've failed and let everybody down. Really wierd, because during the day I'm not thinking about it half as much now as at the start. I'm sure Allen Carr says something about dreaming about smoking, I shall have to go and look it up! Have a good day everyone!

This happened to me the only other time I have stopped for any length of time. I would wake up in the morning really depressed because I had 'given in to temptation'. It would take a good few minutes to work out what I had done the previous evening and therefore my 'smoking' was in a dream. :rotfl:

Do not worry, Olive. This is all part of your brain's 'survival technique', trying to trick you in to smoking because it thinks that it will ease the anxiety. What the brain doesn't realise is that it is the cigarette that is causing the anxiety in the first place!!!!!

    It will pass.....
:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood
  • OH TNG and Olive - I thought it was just me with the odd dreams - it used to be chocolate when I was on a diet!!!
I have had several mornings when I have been nearly in tears at letting myself, my family and eveyone on here down because I had succumbed the night before. Only to have DH point out in that 'Oh you dozy tart' tone (not that he's dare say it lol) that we hadn't gone anywhere the night before and that I'd been an angel!! :A

    Stay strong everyone - we'll do it together!!!:T :T
    Take care,

Tilly I know what you mean about it taking a while to click in in the morning that it was actually a dream! I've felt so bad in the mornings for letting everybody down! Have really wanted one this week, but I know I don't really want a cig, I just want to be less stressed. So I'm finding other ways to calm down, like I had a bit of a row with a colleague earlier, and instead of going and having a cig I still went outside but walked up and down the street and called my mate for a quick rant! I'm sure she didn't mind! I think finding ways to occupy myself in those minutes where I really want one is working. And seeing my Silkquit meter go above £200 saved! Although I've spent it on 'treats' for myself for giving up :o

How's everybody else doing this week? x

Hi Olive, loving the idea that you've spent the money on yourself - attagirl!!

Now rowing with colleagues - mmmm - well I have to confess that I have found giving up smoking quite liberating - I now have precious little patience and anyone who crosses me is in serious bother; whereas before I woud have just taken a deep breath and ignored comments, I now rip off their heads!!

Mind you, I do warn people that I've given up and that irritating me is at their own peril!! Starting to think I need a gov health warning stamped on my forehead lol!!!

Keep Strong everyone - we're doing it!!!

To anyone who wants to join in, we really would genuinely welcome you and be as supportive as we possibly can. You can share any thoughts and feelings - no matter how bizarre and if you read this thread, you will see just how odd some of our experiences have been.
    Take care,
