Hi all
Tilly I feel a bit "weebolly" too - a new ditty for the smoke free thread this could be interesting!
Hi Jo!
HW2007 you are not back at day 1 at all, infact that one could be cancelled out because you weren't really conscious when you smoked it! Just don't be tempted to buy any or get drunk again ..... or else!!!!
love and hugs
IDA

Hiya Tilly
Glad to hear you're still doing well, excellent advice you gave to HW too
Myself and IDA are going away on holiday over the next couple of days (not together I might add..) and so I need all board members/readers/lurkers to keep this thread up at the top as much as poss. We need to snag those that are wanting to stop and keep those that are waivering on the straight and narrow too!
I agree with the weeble comment, I've put on so much weight over the past couple of weeks. I decided on this last quit that I wasn't going to worry about what I ate cos it took my mind off smoking, whereas previously I was so worried about putting weight on that I'd not eat and take my mind off it and smoke again iykwim
Plus just done my 4th burger shop mystery shop in a week today  and why the h*ll do they position a Krispy Kreme right next to the particular crap food shop I had to visit today. So as well as a greasy burger and chips (diet coke though ), I've got a chocolate covered creme filled donut :eek:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
OMG what is wrong with me - I'd love a fag right now, since 6.30pm actually - this quitting malarkey certainly keeps a person on their toes!! Don't worry I'll breathe it away - no danger that I'll get any!!
Stay smokefree y'all!!
IDA

IDA, I know exactly what you're talking about! I don't know if it's cos I've got 'left work tonight and don't have to go back for over a week' vibes, making me feel kinda celabratory, or if it's a Friday night thing (although I never actually go out on a Friday!) but I could maim (not quite kill) for a fag right now. Things are not getting harder as such but I'm noticing it more...I think cos I don't do that anymore and my subconscious 'just light a fag and not realise' brain is working??
Really worrying about this holiday now, gonna be in a club (albeit Butlins!), with approx 200 people smoking in the doorways  Oh no, I just realised!! Chico is doing Butlins Bognor this summer  what are people gonna go but go outside and smoke   I'm gonna be the only one sat inside :eek:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
hiya all came back for a wee bit support/check in as the guy who sits opposite me at work stopped smoking in Jan, i stopped in April and there is now only about 2 smokers in my building :j .............
however... he went on his hols for 2 weeks and came back, sat opposite me and said (GOD DAMN HIM!) 'i started smoking again' argggggggghhhh he stinks!!!!
i wont weaken though i know that now but i was a bit dissapointed !
JO - how you doing? dont worry about BUtlins, the way i got around dealing with other smokers was to force myself to deal with it by making myself going outside with them! it does work the more you do it the less it tugs at you!!
on the drinking and not smoking side i just ensure i drink so much that i dont have time to worry bout smoking!:T :eek:0 -
OMG FBS!! You are so brave
I'm so glad you are still doing well, please pop in more.
Really worried about next week :eek:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
worried!! we laugh in the face of cravings! :j
i know where ur comin from tho cos i havent been back to scotland to see my family for the past 3 months and one of the reasons is that a lot of them smoke but my gran doesnt but it would be the first time i have stayed with her without constantly nipping out the back for a fag so i know it would feel wierd!
once your on holiday you always end up thinking of the next holiday soon as your back so jus think that with the money your saving you can have that next holiday sooner, cos money wont b so much of an issue eh?
you can do it :j0 -
Hi Jo. I haven't read all the posts on this thread, there's 40 pages of them for heavens sake, but I am sure I can guess where most of them are coming from.Nicotine is a drug as all of you know, and drugs are addictive. When I was young smoking was very acceptable (watch any 1940's 1950's films and you will see what I mean) and 90% of the population lit up on a regular basis. The fact that you stank of cigarette smoke didn't matter because everybody else did. Nowadays smokers are becoming pariahs and the health & safety lobby are doing their best to make sure that our freedoms to do what makes us happy and comfortable is frowned upon. Not just frowned upon but legislated against. Now you may think that I'm pro-smoking, but I am not. My Brother died recently of lung cancer, due mainly to the fact that he smoked around 30-40 cigs a day. It wasn't pleasant watching him die. In his latter days he was in a lot of pain and very disturbed, particularly as his lovely wife had died a few weeks before him of cervical cancer (she was a non-smoker).
I have long realised that smoking is not good for you, but dislike being told what to do. As my hero in "The Island" said, "I am not a number. I am a free man"
I started smoking when I was 11 years old whilst watching "Snow White" in a cinema in Wales in 1944 having acquired 5 Woodies from the local tobacconist. It was magic. Looking back now I realise that I am an addictive personality and have that confirmed from my psychiatrists and psychologists in rehab. In 1980 I gave up smoking and in 1987 I started again. In 1994 I gave up again and in 2001 I started again. Since then I've stopped and started many many times. the pleasures centre of my brain won't set me free. Never mind I will try, try, try again. I think this is the message I want to get across is, be your own person, do what you think is right, listen to your voices and keep on trying.0 -
I'm still here, trying to fight the good fight. I have two cigarettes left and not a penny in my purse til Monday. I don't have choice really do I ? Particularly as I'm so tired of sneaking out for a quick puff at home.
During the day I am just not bothered about the nasty things, at work they don't even know I smoke, but as soon as I get home...
I think Allen Carr is spot on secret smoking is the worst, racked with guilt and never 'enjoying' it anyway.
I have to do this, milestone birthday next year and I don't want to be still trying to stop.

Fieryblond go see your family soon- I bet your Gran will be so proud!!:A
Hi Jo can't remember when you go, so you may have gone if not make sure you have a brill smokefree time - although I admit Chico could be a big pressure to start again - perhaps he's our nicotine monster - "I'll sing or you smoke - which is it to be" :rotfl: :rotfl: ! Carry on fighting the good fight hun and speak when you're back!
