Hi Chameleon - this is exactly how I feel and I'll be 4 weeks tomorrow! I was trying to explain to OH what i feel like. I don't have cravings as such but I feel like something is missing but not sure what. The closest thing I could liken it to was when you're really hungry but just don't know what you fancy! DOes that make sense.

    Yes, that's exactly it! :T

I can still feel the "hunger" shortly after I've eaten so I know it's not food I actually need.

I wonder if smoking does actually suppress appetite though as I all I ever [STRIKE]have[/STRIKE] used to have for breakfast was 2-3 cups of coffee and 2-3 rollies and this would satisfy any hunger pangs until lunch time. Now, I'm still having my usual coffee but obviously not smoking and I'm starving!!!! :o

    It's day 2 for me.
I have been here quite a few times over the last year or so but this time feels different.
I'm actually finding it really hard today. I'm doing it cold turkey and at the moment I'm all over the place.

The most I have ever quit for is 3 weeks so I just hope I can do it this time, I found this thread very helpfull last time as it's great to have people who know what you are talking about.

Hope you are all having a good day.

    Ditto!!!

I'd been talking about giving up for a while and had sort of subconsciously been cutting down each day but the decision to stop on Sunday was an impulsive, unplanned and unprepared moment as when I finished my last packet of baccy I said that's it no more  _pale_

I really thought it would be easier than this as I'd reached a point where going long periods without smoking wasn't bothering me and I was down to around 5 a day the last few days. Today I'm really struggling and keep thinking about buying a a half-ounce pack and maybe just having one or two a day :o

But, if I can get past this I'm sure I'd feel a whole lot better about myself in the long run :A

    Hi Chameleon
DON'T WEAKEN!! You've been so strong so far - don't waste these past couple of days. Things will only get better - they don't get worse - honest. Go and take a walk outside, or do or think about anything that's positive. Don't give in to that demon inside your head!
Good luck - you CAN/WILL do it.

Same goes for you too mumofcookers - you've made the decision - don't go back on it. We're all rooting for you.

Still hanging on in there :j

Once I get past 4pm I should be ok. It will be a full 48 hours then, plus I've not been smoking during the evenings for a while now (too cold to go outside) so fingers crossed it will be a little easier then ;)

Hi all you fellow non-smokers

    Day nine now
    8 days, 13 hours, 46 minutes and 50 seconds (8 days).

Not that i'm counting or anything :o :rotfl:

Not too bad today .. feel a little "tense" but nothing i can't handle .. think it's more to do with lack of sleep due to noisy neighbours

Welcome Chameleon and mumofcookers .. excellent news that you've given up.. I've never tried cold turkey (bit of a coward) so can't comment on what you'll be going through but I know for me (so far) day 4 was the worst.. after the nicotine left, my body and mind it didn't know what to do with themselves so decided to get the hump :( ... it does get better though :):)
    :j :j :T :j :j

    Hi Waspese,
Another busy day at the office then?!! Seriously though, you're really lucky to have the job to go to every day - it certainly helped me when I gave up a couple of years ago.

    Yeah really busy :D

I do appreciate i'm lucky .. not just to help with the smoking but also given the present climate .. i've read quite a few really sad stories on DFW and the BR boards about people losing their jobs etc :(

The only downside (with regards smoking) is that I don't leave the office all day.. always used to go out for a ciggie or two at lunch but for the time being have stopped going out at all.. after this week i'll probably take myself out for a little walk at lunch time but it means fighting my way past all the smokers so not too pleasant and would find it hard if i did it now :(

It's another barrier to cross - go for it - you can do anything now.
