thanks Lula, and hi!
i think i need to dedicate a little bit of time to think this through carefully and plan for 'triggers', as you say.
i'm really excited about it now that i've made the plan real by sharing it though, it's great to have people here to advise on potential pitfalls!

Lulu I am glad too I am not standing outside .The only downfall is I forget to let the dog out, cos she just went out when I was outside smoking.Smoke Free since 13th September £1400 better off :beer:0 -
Hello
My name is Chameleon and I gave up smoking exactly 24 hours ago :T
How do I get through the next 24hrs without causing physical harm to someone/thing? :rotfl:“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Hi to everyone.
Firstly, very MANY congratulations to Waspy, Mintoze and themammy on keeping up with quitting!!!! :T:T:T I could not be more thrilled for you and it's such a joy to read the pleasure in your posts as you each acknowledge just how brilliantly you've done! Keep up the great work all, and every day sees you a step further to the best decision of your lives!!! :j
A very warm welcome to the thread to bigsmoke and ~Chameleon~! It's always so very good to welcome new quitters, so please join us in chatting about how you're feeling, whether it's good, bad, you need to rant - or a time for shouting from the roof tops  you're welcome to do so here - and be listened to.
Waspy, Lula (5 months already!!!!), Mintoze and the mammy have all given such great advice and I couldn't agree more about the changing of routines, it's a real help and you'll be amazed at how it changes cravings or times when you think you need one purly from routine alone.
Please ~Chameleon~, read the pm I've sent BEFORE you think of resorting to your thoughts!!!
bigsmoke If you follow the exercises I've put in the pm, you'll find that it's even possible to combine quitting and losing weight. Put them to the test, you'll soon see!
I saw my old self in your following sentence <<<"if i find myself running out of conversation i'll nip out for a fag.">>> My only advice to that would be, where possible in the beginning to try and avoid any awkward conversational times with folk and that habit will disappear soon enough. Some of us find chat easy, others of us don't and I'm one of the latter - though you'd never think so here!!! Thought I'd get that in before Waspy, Lula or Feedumall did!
All the very best of luck to everyone ....plenty of deep breathing help fill those lungs with a new lining!

Thanks for the warm welcome, and I'll read your PM in a moment Sue, thanks! :A
Just wanted to ask, is it normal to feel constantly hungry?
Now I can see why they say giving up smoking puts on weight, and that's the last thing I need to happen as I'm supposed to be losing it “You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Morning everyone
day 2 for me and just wanted to say a quick, public, massive thanks to Sue for the PM - i'll reply later when i've had time to digest it all, but what a great way to start the day, it's made me feel really positive and 'go get 'em'.
i got up really early today and went for a swim, to remind myself of how great i'm going to feel, and keep feeling better hopefully. the sun is shining and i'm smokefree, yay!!
congrats TDQO, can't wait to be where you are. well done, you're all inspiring me

Hi Chameleon - this is exactly how I feel and I'll be 4 weeks tomorrow! I was trying to explain to OH what i feel like. I don't have cravings as such but I feel like something is missing but not sure what. The closest thing I could liken it to was when you're really hungry but just don't know what you fancy! DOes that make sense.
I am always feeling hungry and hate fruit so have been munching on raisins and drinking water - it does help. I'm really hoping it will pass soon..... carrying a few extra pounds won't kill me and I know that if I can quite the fags I have the willpower to sort out the diet once I'm strong enough!
Keep going everybody :T

Hi everyone,
Chameleon, there's no need to put on weight although I did actually gain 10lbs  but that's because I've always been a skinny minnie & never worried about what I ate & when the food tasted so good I couldnt get enough of it. To be honest I havent done enough exercise or self discipline to keep from gaining the weight but with my size 8 stuff hanging unworn I'm now on a bit of a mission to lose the weight as I cant afford to buy new clothes  . If you keep away from the stodge & eat all the stuff that Sue says rather than ignore her as I did
you should be fine. Frankly, I'd rather be a size bigger than still smoke though but it's not an either/or situation, so dont let that put you off
.
Sue, I'm sure that underneath that lively , gregarious, friendly exterior there lies a shy, retiring type  even if no one else believes it.
Happy non smoking everyone :j0 -

Yes, it is. That is the physical withdrawal symptoms! And physically, that's as bad as it gets. A slight anxiety, a funny feeling in your stomach.... a bit like hunger, really.
Good luck all :T :T:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0
