  • Hi everyone

Just popping in to say that day 3 was a nightmare... but I made it hooray.

I actually wrote quite a long entry to this thread but my nasty computer froze on me so I will just write it again in my diary.

    Well... day 5 .. nearly day 6 and all's well :D

Have actually had a really good day today.. work went okay and actually went pretty quick .. was pacing around my lounge when I got home for a couple of hours whilst waiting to see what time everyone was going out tonight .. got fed up eventually and went of for a stomp (either that or nip down the shops  )

walked about 2 miles (I know.. not a lot but it's a start!) to the pub/club .. and had a good night, NO CIGGIES, despite my mates popping outside every few minutes

Won at table footy :D:D .. can you take that up professionally?

    And then walked home !

Think I may have overdosed on the glucose tablets :rotfl: :rotfl:

Lula .. Really hope you managed to get things sorted with those people in "authority" .. hopefully you've had a better friday than thursday?!

American Dreamer :j :j .. hopefully you've had a better day today .. sometimes (not always) the really hard days are followed by a bit of a better day, partly due to the satifaction of actually getting through the hard time.. not sure if that made sense? (have had a few drinks!)

    To everyone else .. keep at it:T :T :A :A

    (a little bit p!ssed, Waspy :D)

Hi again Waspy, I'm thrilled to bits that your day went so much better, well done!! :T Funnily enough the part you put to American Dreamer about the next day being better was what I was going to say to you!!! Ah, such great minds!!

The bit about you "went of for a stomp" was so good to do and no one would knock 2 miles as it's a really good distance when you're stressed up and a bit on edge, if everyone did that, they'd find it so much easier to cope with. Not only that but you walked home too!!! Keep it up Waspy and you'll soon be super fit with much healthier lungs. I hope (even though you're a bit p*ssed ) that you're feeling really proud of your day ... your football skills too! Even that is great to do as your hands are occupied and your brain certainly is. :j

All the best for tomorrow Waspy, everyone else too.

    Hey all,

I've tried many a times to give up in the 6 years that I have been smoking, started off when going out clubbing & drinking, this then led to a weekly thing, then a daily thing then going through a pack or 2 a day, then cutting down to pack a day, then cutting down to half a pack a day, then came a day when I though **** it no more fags, no more wasting money, what had made me realise that when I use to smoke at home (in the garden) I just kept throwing my old boxes into a draw, last Saturday I was cleaning my room and saw loads of boxes and thought to myself, I've been paying up to £3 a day for an empty box? For some smoke? For what??

Since then it's made me realise what a fool I been, all the £££'s I would of had now, it's upsetting when you think about it.

It's been a week now that I've quit and although I get the urges I fight them, but it has not been as bad as I thought it would have been. Plus side, I can now look forward to my body mending and my savings from not smoking rising.

Good luck to all, it's not as hard as it seems, it is your mind that is fooling you for a fag, don't be a loser be a fighter and fight that craving and say no to nicotine and all those harmful gases along with that white and brown stick.

    Well done Waspy :j

I think a 2 mile walk is a brilliant way of beating off cravings , they pass so quick really once you get your head in order.

My friday was much better thanks & the problem now dealt with ... my rent gone up by £30 a month, hey ho  .

NikzGfz - that's a very effective way of coming to terms with what we've all been doing with our money :o, I hope others read that & see the light.

    Well done everyone :A

Welcome to the thread Nik and very well done indeed on having quit for a week - and for adopting such a great attitude! :T You really do deserve to get through it and get yourself in much better shape, both physically and financially! All the very best and we're here if/when you need us.

Oh dear Lula, such a rotten shame and quite a hike given all that's increased so dramatically in the last few months. Trouble with all LLs, they KNOW they can get away with doing it as we have to have a roof over our heads. Look on it the light that if you were still on that wicked ..... then you'd be in far more of a queer street!:D Smile Lula, we can't do nowt else can us!!!

You did yourself such a wonderful favour in so many ways when you kicked the habit!!! :D:D :j :D:D

All best wishes, to everyone else too.

    Hi sue,
thanks for your kind words, & my first thought was that the increase is about what I used to spend on evil ones so no better off financially, but so what really, it's only money & at least I dont smoke so the roof over our heads smells nice & clean ;)

    best wishes Lula x
  • I am planning on giving up. No good for me, my daughter aged 3 or anyone else for that matter. Am hoping to get some cartridges for the inhaler at some point this week, and up to yet my quit day is a week tomorrow. I don't enjoy it any more, and the longest I gave up was using Zyban and I managed to give up for approx 5 months, so I know I can do it. Will let you know how I get on once I've quit

Hi Sam and a warm welcome to the thread.

It's always good to see the words "I don't enjoy it any more", as that's almost always when a person truly is ready to quit and stay quit. I hope so much that this is what happens for you - your family too. Your 3 year old little girl may notice a slightly different you for the temporary stage, but one thing's for sure - when she's older she'll certainly thank you for it!!! They definately nag you to bits the older they are, rightly so too! :o

We're here whenever you want to talk, moan or anything like it so please don't ever hesitate to come on and type away as whatever helps you is just great for us all. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing the new you, away from that 'orrible stuff! ;) How about putting all that you save into a jar, tin or similar to help give you more motivation, many find it helps to see it mount up.

    All very best wishes.
