You know the drill then ; take one day at a time & mark every hour as an achievement, I know you can do it & so do you & when the physical ' i want to rip concrete with my bare hands' thing occurrs - feel free to pop round & do some hedge trimming/ leaf raking/ digging
PS - think everyone on the thread at that time remembers me quitting - I made such a whingeing, moaning fuss about it, but it's allowed, so go ahead & enjoy your turn0 -
Thanks Lula
You whinging? nah .. don't remember that
I'll let you know when I feel the urge to demolish anything :rotfl::hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -
Thanks Lula

Cheeky
I do still have the odd gum now & then if I fear I'm going to cave in, mostly when driving actually which is weird as I never smoked in the car anyway. I know many dont like the gum but I found it really helpful as keeps my mouth busy  & relieves craving.
You can do it, you can, you can you can & you will do it, you will, you will, you will - if only so you can stop coming on this thread & having to read that little mantra :rotfl:0 -

Hi DC!!! It's so good to see you're still being tempted to give it up, just please keep on going and one of these days you'll do it!! Just take the bull by the horns as soon as you think you CAN and be as strong as you possibly can. Together we'll help you through it and you'll be so very proud of yourself when you accomplish your dream!
I can only echo Lula's words Waspeze ...one day at a time will see you to the end. Keep taking plenty of water. Crikey! Going way back to P 257 will have been a bit of memory stirring! Is this is where we're supposed to say "ah...those were the days!!!" :snow_laug You're right about our Lula being an inspiration too! :T At a girl Lula keep giving them all the enthusiasm you have and it'll work wonders, just as it did for you!:D How strange about the car craving though. That's something which still affects me a little (though I did use to have the odd one or two in the car) , but I just crave a little for mints now instead.
Hi madmoney!! It's so good to get an update from you and what great success you're having too! :T Don't worry if you can't get on too often, though it is good to know now and again. Keep it up mm and always remember you're never far from our thoughts! Wish I knew about k8te and her hubby as they had a terrific start.
Good to see you again American Dreamer. I'll let madmoney answer you if she's here later. Well done so far and keep on counting the days as you'll get stronger with each one! :T
All the best everyone!

Hi all
Day three and all's well
Went to see the nurse today, she recognised me from last time.. told her the truth though and she said it was quite common.. suggested this time to ween myself off the tablets after twelve weeks rather than just stop dead. Already thinking that far ahead ... no stopping me this time
Right just putting the brakes on ... as Lula and Sue say .. one day at a time
Got my lollies (just sucking on a stick at the mo  ), glucose & vit c tablets and all set
American dreamer, I can't remember how I felt last time at five weeks so, like Sue says, Madmoney is probably the best to answer.. but here's a list of the "official" benefits that might give you some pointers?8 hours Nicotine and carbon monoxide levels in blood reduce by half, oxygen levels return to normal. Circulation improves.
24 hours Carbon monoxide and nicotine eliminated from the body.
48 hours The decline in lung function and excess risk of lung cancer halts.
72 hours Breathing easier. Bronchial tubes begin to relax and energy levels increase
1 month Appearance improves – skin loses its grayish pallor and becomes less wrinkled
3 - 9 months Coughs and wheezing declines
1 year The excess risk of a heart attack reduces by half compared to that of a smoker.
15 years Risk of heart attack falls to the same as someone who has never smoked.
Apologies for re posting them .. i'm sure they've been shown a lot of times already but it's such a big thread it can't hurt to have them again?:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -
Hi All,
THought it was about time I updated!
I was flat on my back last week and just about getting mobile this week and today is 3-weeks of non-smoking - hooray! Also 10 days (is that all?!) nicotine free having dropped the patches.
Last week was easy - in too much pain and too doped up to give a monkeys about anything. This week I have had the odd "oo, I'd love a fag" thought as I am off work and not keeping terribly busy but feel surprisingly good.
Well done to everybody else who is staying on the straight and narrow and good luck to everybody about to quit or in the early stages:T
