Thankyou!!! I managed today with just 4 cigarettes!!
tattycathie. how do u find non smoking even tho ur OH still puffing away? does he smoke in the house? I just think im gonna find it really hard to stay away if hes goin outside for a cig!! However I have used this as an excuse for too long, so I will succeed, just after some hints and tips
thankyou all
mm
It gets easier with time. He does go outside and he only smokes in the car if the kids aren't there-but he still smokes in the car if I'm there. Sometimes I have thought about wanting a cigarette but not very often and the cravings lasted seconds.
I'm more of a reformed smoker now and I occasionally tell him it stinks and he stinks. I have to laugh when he has got to go out for a 'fix' (cigarette) and it's cold or raining or windy and I'm nice and cosy warm inside. :rotfl:
I'm just so pleased to be off that hook where your dupe yourself into believing you really need to smoke. I used to smoke 20 + a day, but not any more.
Good luck to you-I know you can do it!!!GE 36 *MFD may 2043

You are doing brilliantly
Just remember that the cravings go after a week or so then it's just mental tricks; went out for a meal for DDs b-day tonight & on the way home in the car I suddenly had the feeling I should be doing something...then remembered I didnt have to do 'that' anymore
Wel done madmoney - you will succeed .0 -
Keep it up everyone is doing fantastically ..no matter how long they have quit for.
I used to smoke 40 a day costing me £70 per week and have given up now for over 3 weeks. The money I have saved has paid to have new blinds fitted at all my windows!!!
Another thing my DD aged 19 who still lives at home is unfortunately a smoker but she said to me the other day that she is glad that I've quit as she has to go outside to smoke so she now smokes less !!!!....perhaps one day she'll give up but that does have to be her choice.
I just thought I'd share those couple of things with you as these are things that have happened after only 3 weeks.0 -
Hi Taxi. That was fantastic seeing how much you've saved in JUST 3 weeks so over a year you could save £490!!!! Brilliant!!!:j A shame about your Daughter, but you've done her a great favour so ....with luck she may well decide to quit someday, I do hope so. Our lad is the same (though he's married) but as time goes on he's smoking less and less so we're keeping our fingers crossed that he'll quit soon, but as you say, it needs to be their choice.
Keep up the great work Taxi, at the rate you're going you'll soon have Christmas paid for!!!;)
Well done with another great day madmoney!!!! IF you're ready to try the morning and evening ones, then alter the things you do at those times of day. Have a glassful of cold water at each of the times, then try a different drink than your used to at those times - or have cold ones, then a hot one later on you. If you're used to tea, then swap it for a Drinking chocolate or Bovril (try to leave coffee out as it normally goes with the evil sticks) or just Orange Juice or any squash. Try lemon or something sour as Feedie suggested!!!madmoney wrote:Had a lovely "moment" this morning, my son had noticed that I hant had a cig on the way to school with him, and he sed"mummy? have you stopped smoking?" so i sed no not yet, but im having less, to which he replied "i knew you would do it, coz u promised me and you never break promises" I love my kid!!!
Keep that very beautiful paragraph and pin it up to help you at any weak moments. He's a little darling and cherishes his mum, I think you have your incentive right there in him, bless his little heart. :A I reckon you'll become "one of us guys on here and havent smoked for months, years etc!!" before too long.
Keep up that brilliant work mm, you have so very much to be so proud of already!

Hi! I haven't checked in for a while, so thought i would let you know it's been five weeks now! I did have a minor blip (which i haven't counted) - my sister was smoking when we went out for a drink last week and i had a drag of her cig. Well, it tasted AWFUL!!! I am so sure that I will never go back to smoking again as it was just so disgusting. I Can't believe that i enjoyed that for 10 years!! I must admit though I am not really seeing the kind of benefits that everyone else has, i don't think food tastes any different to before- i can still easily eat a madras curry without smoke coming out of my ears! Maybe i have bad taste buds? My skin is the same as normal (i thank my mum's genes for this as her skin is amazing!) and I am not feeling more energised, just the same as normal! Am I alone here????0

:jMorning all, thanks Sue, yeah he is my one inspiration in kicking the fags, I got my gosmokefree pack this morning, and im thinking that zyban is the way to go for me, an feeback on this guys? Its just that I know a few ppl who have been successful with zyban, I dont think I want the patches, and i cant use the chewing gum coz im a chef. Cant wait for my appointment on monday now, nearly cancelled it coz OH works nights and im having my loft re-insulated (free off the councl, very dfw of me!), so rather than cancel the appointment Ive asked my brother to come round while they are here so i can go to the docs;)
Having a great day, only 1 dirty ciggie so far!!

Very well done no1girlfommars!!! :T I'd hardly even think of one puff as being a blip, more doing it for experimental reasons to my mind!!!!! At least you now know that you don't want to go down that road again.
Maybe you're not finding too many benefits because you didn't smoke tooo heavily? It may even be due to your sinuses, whatever the reason I wouldn't worry about it as the most important thing is that you've quit. It sounds as though your skin couldn't have altered much anyway, good on your mum! You also only (if you can say that) smoked for 10 years (maybe why you didn't go down hill with energy either) whereas so many of us have been hooked for many, many more years than that! I don't think I'd lost my taste too much either as it tasted great then and still does. I did notice a difference in the way I felt though, energy wise too. How about checking with your doc to see if your thyroid gland is low, mine has been for years.
The main thing is that you've STOPPED and got your health back on track, keep thinking of that is being the most important gain, your money too!;) Well done!
Good luck and keep up that great work.
