Long time smoker (20 yrs plus)

Hiya Jinty. I'm sure I see another very determined quitter about to bite the bullet and quit for good in order to get that very valuable life back. We would be thrilled to bits to add your name to the list of those who DID it. I'm so pleased your OH goes outside, especially with you having kiddies, you may well soon be encouraging him to quit too, even if it's something he doesn't want right now. Fingers crossed for that, but don't try and persuade him, best if he works it out for himself.
Your kiddies will be so proud of you for quitting, they hear so much about what it does to our health so who can blame them for wanting their folks to be free of it. Be sure to act on the instructions of the chewing gum, some folk use it like the normal stuff, but it doesn't work that way, so be sure to use it well.
So, roll on Wednesday and we all wish you the very best of luck for your new life!!! 5 months is a very long time ....this time do it for life - YOURS!!!!! :T

Ive "promised" to do this for my 5 year old son, who hates my smoking
Hi madmoney and good to see you here. Lilith has done a great job with what she's saying to you, and it's true that your OH should most definately be going outside anyway as the most important person in your home, and who he should be protecting no matter what is ......your son!
Please, for his sake alone ....tell your OH that it's VITAL that he goes outside rather than forcing your son to smoke too!
Sorry if that sounds a bit blunt, but kiddies HAVE to be first in line and we need to care for them above all others, please, please protect him from the evils of smoking.
Your friends and family smoke now, but all too often it just needs one to break the chain and turn things around, you may well be that one family member/friend to help all the others (or some ....even just one counts) away from this evil habit!!! Take the bull by the horns and see your GP, we'll help and support you as much as you'll let us! Will be sending on a PM to help you in a minute.
All the very best.

Hi guys
Just wanted to say its now been 2 weeks and 5 hours since my last fagHubby is doing well also, but is finding it much harder, which i thought was strange as i smoked so much more then him, but he is determined to carry on. I have been using the step 2 patches, and for me they are amazing! Since i put my first one on i have not had a single craving, i havent even thought about smoking, it is really weird, like i have never smoked. I know it is still early days, but there is NO way i am ever going back to the cancer stick, never. I am so enjoying my nice smoke free house, clean linen when i go to sleep and WOW how much money is in our bank, so nice being able to treat the kids, and go out for lunch.
Well done K8te!!!!! :T :jYou're both doing marvellously and I can 'see' you're so proud of yourselves. You've accomplished so much so far so with your attitude and strength I see you both seeing it through to the bitter end. Hubby'll get there ...with your encouragement and keep him reminded of the glassfuls of water, as it's a great friend when you're struggling. Don't forget to keep throwing apples and carrots his way too, it all helps so much, as does the vit C of orange juice.
Good luck k8te and keep up that great work!
SueLilith1980 wrote:I've had a relapse, well me and hubby have. So frustrating. Maybe we are not 100% committed to doing it. I just know the days I didnt smoke were great as my hair and clothes smelt fresh all day. Grrr.....time to start again methinks.
That's the attitude Lilith! :T Many of us have a blip along the way, but that is exactly the way to view it, then just get right back into the circle and carry on as though you hadn't slipped up. Keep determined and you'll see it through, especially if you keep supporting each other.
Keep strong Lilith, hubby too!

Well done everyone.I haven't smoked for 3 weeks now and am feeling quite pleased.0

Hey everyone & well done on all successes & try again to all who havent quite succeeded yet.
Madmoney - In answer to your question about your OH smoking in the house I would just like to say that I used to be a parent helper in my DDs class & one of my jobs was to put letters in the childrens book bags.
I could immediately tell which children had smoking parents as their book bags absolutely stank of stale cigarette smoke  , not the smell you would expect / hope to find on a 6 year old.
If that doesnt stop him then perhaps you could remind him that while he is an
adult & able to choose whether to smoke or not, that your DS has had that choice taken from him while your OH continues to smoke in the house.
Sorry to be so blunt, but would he make him drink alcohol or take recreational drugs ?
Good luck & maybe your success will encourage him to also give up .
