Hi Feedie,
lovley to hear from you & well done on your 6 months :j . I'm nearly at 3 now& like you dont miss them a bit, rarely think of them now except as you say to be horrified at the cost.
I'm glad you're enjoying your retirement & have to say I have wonderful image of you sketching & painting whilst wearing fabulous shoes.
Dippychick, some dont put on any weight at all, I did put on a stone over the first couple of months but mainly because I wasnt very disciplined, however, my metabolism has now readjusted & the weight is coming off again.
Quitting is as hard as you want it to be.
If your heart's not really in it then you will always have a deep belief that you're being deprived which will eat away at you , if you really wholeheartedly want to quit then you will see any cravings or angst as just a few sypmtoms you have to endure for a while in order to achieve your goal. The more you want to quit, the easier it will be.
Sorry if that's not very helpful but I honestly believe that's what it comes down to. Many people take 2 or 3 attempts to achieve the quit & for me that's exactly how it was; the first couple of times were hard because I really wasnt 100 % sure I wanted to quit ... then I got my head together & havent looked back since.
Good luck to everyone & you CAN do it, you can, you can, you canthe will bit is up to you

Well done Lula, :T that is exactly how it is so I do hope you Dippychick, fall into the category above and that it won't present you with any great problems. If you're determined, then you CAN do it!
Don't let the fear of the withdrawal symptoms put you off of doing something that will change your life forever. All too often the fear is worse than the actual event itself. Also, if you wish, there are so many helpful products available these days which will even take away the symptoms, so have a word with your GP or go to your local Pharmacy and ask for advice, they'll be only too happy to help you through it all. In a minute I'll send you on a PM about quitting and another about keeping your weight off.
For now, all the best of luck in quitting and let us know how you go, you can come on here for a rant or whatever whenever you wish, please do so.
Sue

Also what I am doing is for each day I don't buy any cigs, I'm transferring the equivalent amount of a pack of 10 into my savings account. Then at the end of each month I'll pay it off my credit card.
I know the health issue should be the most important but for some reason I find having that monetary goal is spurring me on
Hi again Lilith! You do whatever works for you, there's no right or wrong way of looking at it or doing it, we're all individuals and we need to find what's best for us and act on it Anyway, every time you put that money away there's no reason you can't spare a thought for the health you're regaining anyway!!!;)
Good luck Lilith!

I have not smoked for 5 weeks now YIPPEE and I did not use nicotine products to aid in stopping.
I read the Alan Carr, easyway to stop smoking book
It is fab and it really works there is an illustrated guide (which is really funny) and a more sensible book I didn't buy them just borrowed from library so saved even more money.
Good luck to all x0 -

Very well done gettingsorted and Buttercup.x!!! :T
5 weeks is a great time GS, especially without any aids. I've never read the book myself, but everyone speaks so well of it. Good for you and keep up the great work as it's so worthwhile!
So you've made it Buttercup.x! How are you going without using anything? If you're ok then well done you, but if you should need any help, or the need to vent, then you know where to come. Meanwhile, I look forward to hearing progress from you both as it's always great for the moral of others.
Good luck both as well as to all others looking in.

Wouldn't that be marvellous Feedie! As is said these days ......bring it on!!!!!By heck the world would have no money problems then, well not half as many at least with all that saved on being set light to! :T The government may have problems without the revenue mad from it all ....though there wouldn't be the smoking related illnesses for them to fork out for, so it could only be good for us all.
Here's to us all and good luck to all those staying the course ....and all those starting out, or over again - you CAN do it, you can beat it as YOU are bigger that it!!!:D:j

Hi Bobbie78, keep it going! You've made the hardest decision already which is to quit, you now have to see it through! You'll kick yourself if you dont keep it up because if you are anything like me you will keep deciding to give up in the future and therefore keep putting yourself through the same torture!
Keep reading everyone's posts, that'll keep you busy, while you're doing that take sips of cold water and you'll hopefully get through. I used to sit on my hands alot to stop me smoking, I looked a right plonker sat there after dinner, out in the pub, watching tv etc with my hands under my legs and slightly rocking back and forth!!!
Just wanted to share with everyone something I just found out, I obviously know that giving up smoking would prolong my life/make me healthy etc but I've just been on Silkquit and programmed in my quit date (never did it before now) and the fact that shocked me most was that 65 hours (over 2 1/2days) I would have been stood smoking my cigs if I'd carried on. How the heck did I get the kids to school/house tidy/meals made when I used to stand in the kitchen doing sod all and having a fag?! I'd like to say that there's been an improvement in the tidyness of my house since stopping (courtesy of extra time while not smoking) but unfortunately as I look around nothing has changed! I must be filling the hours doing other stuff!!
Keep going everyone and even though I dont post daily I do think of you all every single day and it's great to know that I'm not alone! xDMP mutual support number 199Debt free in [strike]2025[/strike] 2018 (hopefully a lot sooner!):j Smokefree since 10pm 2/7/08 :jBaby no.3 due 29/04/20110
