Hi Bobbie,
There is loads of great advice to be found here, too. Keep going, minute by minute if you have to. Just remember that all you need to do is never take another puff!

Well done Kel,:T so nearly 7 weeks already then!
Keep it going as that's a great time to quit for.
Hi bobbie, I think simbalou has pretty much said all the things that need saying at your stage ...and yes, you would hate yourself IF you went back, so keep looking ahead as you've no desire to go back to the old life. You're heading for a new life now, a new you too, because that's just what it'll feel like. Ride the storm of the few early days and you'll soon be feeling really good about yourself.
All the very best of luck.
Sue
Hi again simbalou! It's good to see you here again and great to see that really inspiring post that you put to bobbie. It's other people's success stories that help urge others on, so keep it up, it'll be great!

Hey bobbie,
Brilliantly well done so far, I know this time of night is not ideal for it ... but I found that digging was fantastic for relieving tension, keeping hands busy, sense of achievement & just tiring myself out. also venting my rage on here was invaluable. I think I'm nearly at week 14 now :j well 3 months on the 30 th anyway.
anything that keeps your hands busy is good - apart from using them to put crisps, biscuits & cake in your mouth that is  )
Just remember, you have everything to gain from what you are doing, You will have more money, time & energy. All your organs including your skin will be healthier, your teeth more shiny & you will feel good about yourself because, you, & only you are achieving this by yourself.
Be proud of what you are doing, & feel pity for all those who are still slaves to the evil nicotina
Best of luck & well done to everyone

Hi,
Thank you all for the words of encouragement and the PM, I know it is best in the long run and I have managed to quit for a few days at a time before it just is getting through the mile stones of people driving me nut at work and the pub and things. BUT I think I have found a possible thing that might help a virtual unlimited amount of bubble wrap ok would drive everyone else I am sat next to at work nuts but would make me feel better I think. Now how can I justify getting this when I'm meant to be trying so hard for NSD's hmmmmm.

Oh just realised look silkquit says I would have spent more on ciggys already than I would on the most annoying toy in the world  now can I get away with that I wonder...... Hi again bobbie. Fantastic, even though you were twitchy yesterday - you made it through until now and keeping strong you CAN beat this 'orrible thing. IF you think that one of those poppers will help then give it a go. I know just what it's like with that in your hands, once you start you don't want to stop. If it keeps your hands busy and you're mind happy with all the feelings and popping, then why not!
Why not give the pub a wide berth while you're a bit vulnerable and let your pals at work go on out in the cold while you stay in keeping your lungs free from the harms of all that smoke their inhaling ....all that tar, muck and rubbish in them? You don't need it - and they'll soon be thinking the same!!! Set them a great example.:D
If you use the tips you have at hand as well as you quitometer then do you really need the NSDs anyway? Get over the next couple of days and you could well be finding yourself feeling so very different and just being SO chuffed with yourself that you don't need anything else. Give it some thought after tomorrow and see how you're going, but so far - WELL DONE!!!!! :T
Keep up that strength.

Hi guys
Just wanted to say its now been 2 weeks and 5 hours since my last fagHubby is doing well also, but is finding it much harder, which i thought was strange as i smoked so much more then him, but he is determined to carry on. I have been using the step 2 patches, and for me they are amazing! Since i put my first one on i have not had a single craving, i havent even thought about smoking, it is really weird, like i have never smoked. I know it is still early days, but there is NO way i am ever going back to the cancer stick, never. I am so enjoying my nice smoke free house, clean linen when i go to sleep and WOW how much money is in our bank, so nice being able to treat the kids, and go out for lunch.
Hope everyone else is doing well x x0 -
Hi guys
Not sure really where to start....
Ive not been on here for about 11 months, and have been hit but very hard financial times, I quit my job as I hated the boss, and started a new job which was even worse!!!
So I left to go back to the other job, as its a restaurant and I could earn more money, as OH had just been made redundant.
Long story short, I want to get my life back on track as my OH has just found a new job after six months of unemployment which has left us in roughly 3000 pounds worth of debt in total. In that 6 months not once did I go without cigarettes, I would rather have starved than not have a cig!!
This si a fresh start for me, I want to stop smoking to afford the driving lessons for the car we so desperately want, and for my promotion to Kitchen Manager at work.
Ive just been on the gosmokefree website and found it very inspiring, Ive "promised" to do this for my 5 year old son, who hates my smoking, and informed my oh of which brand of cigarettes I smoke, which has asolutely crushed me, as I always thought my smoking didnt affect him, naive I know, thinking that if I smoke outside I shouldnt feel guilty!!
I now realise it affects him in so many ways, like when I have a cig in the living room when hes in bed, and in the morning stood at the back door etc.
My question to the more experienced of you who have succesfully sopped smoking is how do i tackle the issue of my other half smoking? Hes made it clear he has no desire to quit, and has smoked longer than me, I just feel that I will find it hard to quit if hes sat next to me puffing away like a chimney!!!
Sorry for the ramble and thankyou n advance for any replies

Hi MM
As cruel as it sounds, I would ask your OH if he can go outside and smoke so you don't have to smell it. If he is willing to support you in this then I doubt he will mind - might help him cut down as the temperature drops this time of year
I've had a relapse, well me and hubby have. So frustrating. Maybe we are not 100% committed to doing it. I just know the days I didnt smoke were great as my hair and clothes smelt fresh all day. Grrr.....time to start again methinks.0 -
thanks lileth, I have thought about asking him to go outside, but for some reason I dont want to ask him!!! I feel like its his house aswell, why should I tell him what he can and cant do? Plus I would feel ike a hypocrite as I have been doing it for so long, mu quit date is the 4th october, as I am trying to come to terms with stopping smoking, I have only tried once before, and lasted a miserale 4 hours, as I knew OH was going outside for one!! Im going to make an appointment to see my gp to get some advice on what method/medicines I should use, and Im buying a secondhand allen carr book off ebay!!
I do feel its harder to quit when OH smokes, so I know where ur coming from lileth, I think Im just gonna have to bite the bullet!

Yeah I am having the same problem. We kind of give each other excuses to have a cigarette - if one person has one then its ok for the other person to have one.
Its really daft as well because I feel left out!
All our mates smoke so its either stand outside with them or stay in the pub on my own. I think that will be the toughest bit to sort out0
