Morning Guys & girls, well been up since 4.30, daughter went off to france with the school, i put my patch on last night. as were i only work nights i couldnt do it in the mornings. Had a really rubbish sleep though only about 2 hours! But so far so good, i know its only a few hours, but usually by now, sat here alone i would be chain smoking, until wake my son up, dont even feel like one, very strange. Well i will keep you all updated as i am sure it will kick in soon x x0

Good for you k8te,
I did find those sleepless hours in the middle of the night quite tricky at first but ... have read so many more books now,
Keep up the good work0 -
Sprouter have you not ordered your next prescription as Champix is a 12 week course?
Thanks so much for that taxi73 - I'd originally misread that it was only a 2 week course (the doc originally telling me how much it costs the NHS may have influenced that thinking) and was worried about tomorrow when I'd have run out. After reading your post, I did do a bit of reading up last night (on various online forums and all anecdotal!) and did read a few horror stories but to be honest, I'm actually quite enjoying the trippy dreams (and I think I've now learned to control nausea). Anyway, managed to get appt at the docs for today and have now got another 4 weeks supply so thanks again!
Thanks Lula-Hula and Sue-UU too for the encouragement. I started a University course today as a mature student and there was quite a bit of temptation to go and smoke with my new buddies but managed to resist - in the past, I've always warmed to fellow smokers (there was always at least that one thing in common) but I suppose that's something else I'm going to have to get used to. As I've read on here and elsewhere, one day at a time....0 -
Hi all and I hope it's been a really great first day for you K8te.... and your husband? I hope he did join you in the end. Rubbish sleep patterns are what most of us complain about during the first days, yours last night was quite possibly due to the anticipation of it all, but it'll pass, so will any strange dreams you have. Smoking has been a way of life for us all and it's still quite a shock to us, both physically and mentally when we finally quit. However, we keep strong and show it that it WON'T beat us!!!
Good wishes for your young lass to have a great - dry - time in France.
Hello sprouter and another day gone already for you (!!) ....and at the start of a new stage of your life as a mature student at University too! So there's a date for you always to remember your quitting day or one to recall your Uni start....! Whichever becomes the most important to you further down the line.;) Well done in letting the smokers go ahead with their evil habits (that they'll be wishing to be rid of some day) keep that strength up and you'll be well away. IF you should get any other nausea problems then... again plenty of water.
Well done Taxi if you're looking in, I've every faith in you and reckon you'll crack it this time! To all those who keep an eye on the board but don't always participate - renew that resolve each new day and you'll soon be breathing pure...beautiful fresh air and smeling so sweet!!Glad to see you're doing so wonderfully well Lula, I can hear it in every post you write, what a great achievement for 2008 for you!!!! :T:j:T
Keep strong everyone!

Hi olks its 7 weeks for me now and im Really Struggling!!!! Been telling myself why not just smoke and keep it low, got all my change ready for the shop this morning to buy some but managed to drive past the shop (was hard). I finished the patches and i know its all out of my system now its just the mental craving thing, but isn't it hard. I cant justify scrimping and saving cutting coupons out and trapsing about for whoopsies and adding lentils to mince to make it last another meal if i am buying fags and thats the only thing that stopped me this morning. I know all the benefits and i do feel better and (smell better). Its crazy I have £26 quid left till next Thursday when i get paid and i was contemplating starting smoking! Arghhh, just wanted to vent its so worth it to stop but its so hard too. Poor me

Afternoon everyone, I only stopped smoking today so I'm a newbie. Looks like all the support on here could be a big help and I hope I can help other newbies who join. I have'nt told anyone else including my boyf that i live with that I've stopped as I dont want the added pressure. I always smoked outside anyway so I want to see how long it takes for him to notice that I dont smell anymore!struggling to be debt free.....0
