Well done everyone! I see we have more successes again and I hope you're all thrilled to bits with yourselves!!! :T Congratulations once again Lula, 10 weeks seems almost unbelievable, but you've done amazingly well so I'm not at all surprised really. You set out to achieve the title of non-smoker and you've got there! I'm quite sure you'll soon have those pounds off as well, more determination will soon see you there!!! :j

Very well done to you Buttercup.x!!! :T You have your kiddies to keep you spurred on in being a quitter, what better incentive! :D Keep going strong and you'll have that first week behind you in no time! skint, I'm hoping you also are doing well with kicking the weed too. Worry about one thing at a time, though if you follow the PMs you should be able to manage both farly easily. Follow Lula's great lead.

OK Yoxford, you've fallen off, but just consider it as a slight blip and put yourself back into the circle again... as a circle is something that just keeps on going - never ending! :D Think of that running too ;) and how much better it'll be with lungs free of smoke - and filled with fresh air instead! Keep thoughts of renewing good health and putting pounds in your pockets to aid you in staying quit, your family and their pride in you too!:j

Hi again Daz and congratulations once again to you as 6 weeks is such a great achievement and so much to be proud of!!! :T:T Well done to your dear wife too :T, she must be determined to quit, I do hope she can do it this time too as it will be wonderful to have such great health between you.... loads of LBs too!!;)

Well done everyone and keep up the resolve as it CAN be done and there's so much proof of that on this thread.... so... never give up!! Thanks to you for your encoragement silverbullit, words from ex-smokers help so very much and go to prove what you can do having put your heart and a firm pledge to it. Many thanks.

    Keep it up ALL!

You're welcome Buttercup, we all love helping each other through this hard, but so very rewarding in the end, time. Keep looking at it as you are with the money saved and the way you're restoring your health!

I understand what you mean about 'thinking you should have one' but you would have such terrible regrets at letting yourself.... and all the family down so very much. Apart from that you'd hate being so very ill as a result!!! Whenever you get tempted, drink a full glass of water and do some rigorous exercise, they're about the best things to put paid to the cravings/temptations. Eat plenty of fruit and carrot sticks, but don't give in to that evil nicotine and risk hating yourself and feeling so terribly guilty. You are almost up to that first week Buttercup and once you get to that stage, you'll feel as though you've achieved SO MUCH!!! We're all routing for you and wishing you smoke free. Keep strong and please ......stay healthy!!!!! :D

Sue PS. Keep letting us know your feelings and have a moan or rant whenever you want, just keep it up!

Hey buttercup, you're doing really really well, so please dont try one, it's too soon for you yet - believe me that's how I fell off the wagon  . It'll probably taste foul at first but the evil nicotina will already be seeping into your system & a couple of hours later you'll get that old craving feeling; then you'll smoke another one but this time it wont taste so bad, another hour or so & another craving kicks in..... hey presto you're back to being a smoker again & all that hard work & effort & feeling of achievment GONE.

Please dont do it, you're about to have a 'weekiversary' :D

    Hi there,

As a new recruit to DFW, quitting smoking is one of the big saving s I can make, so I'd like to join your happy group!

I cycle to work a few times a week, and yesterday was my enlightened ride. I spent 13 miles coughing and spluttering because I'd had some many fags over the weekend. Bikes and smokes do not go together. One saves me £5.60 a day in train fare, the other costs me £5.60. I had my last 3 yesterday and want that to be it!

I've quit before, the last time was for 2 years. Fell of the wagon a year ago when I met up with an old group of smoker friends (thanks facebook) and started going to the pub a few times a month with them.

SO its, 1pm(ish) and i'm GAGGING for one. The newsagent near work sells singles and I'm bored and considering a walk. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Hi spoodz and a warm welcome to the board that really does care for YOUR health!

I'm glad you put out a HELP post, just sorry one of us wasn't here earlier to speak to you straight away. I'm hoping with all my heart that you'll have talked yourself out of doing more harm to yourself. I'll send you a PM with some useful tips in a minute. Meanwhile, you know you've smoked too long already and you really do sound as though you're eager to quit and become 'clean' and in control of things, not to mention save a LOT of money!

Whenever you're feeling as you were, come on here and tell us your exact feelings, shout, rant and rave whatever you like. Alternatively, you could so easily be coming on here soon to boast about your achievements! We'll be here to listen and help you all we can. We all care for each other - and that includes you! :D

Write a really strong pledge today and renew it, in thoughts, each and every day and get out cycling ASAP without coughing and spluttering! All the very best.

    Sue

Just wanted to check in and tell you all that I did the Phoenix Smoking Cessation Brief Intervention(!) course today through my new job and I will never EVER smoke again after what I've been told. I even got to hold a jar which contained what looked like tar from lungs of a smoker over a 2 month period, it was disgusting and looked like black treacle.

I am so looking forward to helping other people quit and trying to help others on this board now I have tons of information (I got a certificate too!!!)

  • hi everyone! i'm still going and still haven't smoked any cigs (though i did smoke something which made me laugh a lot on the weekend with my friends but it only had a minute amount of tobacco in...) and still feel really proud of myself. I also had a few drinks and didn't smoke either. I have found the patches and the gum really work well together and i don't really have any cravings. Does anyone know how long you wear a patch for? Is it months?
