Buttercup.x I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's not a combination of both as well as the fact that you really are determined to quit it once and for all! Whatever it is, just keep it up, and with your OH quitting at the same time I think it's fantastic for you both! Don't automatically believe things are going to get harder for you though as it's not that way for all of us. Just keep strong and chat with your OH as well as telling us your feelings here. Meanwhile good luck to you BOTH!!! :T
Hi again Lewki. Not to worry about the slip, but the very fact that you're back here telling us about it shows how desperate you are to kick it, so why not keep the contact with us, as Lula was suggesting. You did sooo very well that first time Lewki so do your best to think back to your frame of mind then and how your health was benefiting as a result of the time you went for. Maybe THIS time is your successful shot, take it and keep strong...... no matter what!!!
Congratulations on such a great achievement Red!!! :T:T Two months is a LONG time and you've done brilliantly! Your success story and the results from your Silk Quit meter are great things to spur our recent quitters along, thanks so much for putting them on and all the best you wonderful non-smoker you!!!!
The same applies to you Lula, you too have come such a long way on your quitting journey and are doing amazingly well as you head for that 10th week!!!
Keep up that resolve everyone and chat to us about your good and bad times, that's what we're here for..... to help YOU to QUIT for good!!!

To all those trying to give up i wish you luck its not easy but nothing worthwhile ever is. I gave up 5 years ago after smoking 40 a day after my kids its the thing im proudest of. My advice is dont try to give up unless your serious you have got to want it more than anything. The other way that helped me was to identify the cigs i enjoyed i found that out of the 40 i smoked i only really enjoyed the one after my tea. So after my tea instead of loading the dishwasher i washed the dishes by hand to distract me, The point im making is most cigs are part of a routine so change all your routines. I also see myself like an alcoholic i know if i had just one cig i would fall of the wagon so if ever i get tempted i get myself out of the situation before now i have walked off from friends in the middle of a conversation. When i have explained later why hey have always been supportive. SO COME ON KICK THE WEED YOU CAN DO IT0

more painting, shoe shopping & adventures with Mario ?

Steve,
well done you & you are sooo right about working out which ones were the 'enjoyment' ones. I admitted that I only really had 2 or 3 & even they were really habits ; I've discovered that I'm quite capable of enjoying my morning coffee without inhaling formaldehyde & the like  & my coffee actually tastes better
Well done Buttercup, it wont be long before you're counting weeks

Well it’s my Second morning of not having a cigarette and I am feeling the pain now esp when I get wound up.. But still I have my patch on which may I add is making me itch like crazy
but still not smoking I have changed some of my cups of teas with a special Hot water with Lemon and hoping that my mind stops associating a brew with a cig. It’s the morning ones I miss and the ones before bed and the ones after tea LOL
I said to my eldest DD last night (shes 7) what has mummy and daddy not had today and straight away she said a cigerette it made me sad that shes so aware that i smoke and the 4 year old DD said that when she is older she is going to smoke i am determined to kick this habit to show them that smoking is no good..September wins: 101 Love songs album 5 cds - Bowtime Fridge magnet!? - So..? hiya,
please may i join u? i so want to quit. i have tried going cold turkey with no luck. so today i am on the micorette gum. i have never used it before.. so i am sitting here with a piece shoved down the side of my gum.. but its making me cough. its says on the pack to spit it out after half an hour.. but is it safe/effective after this??
i have cut down to about 4/5 fags a day. and it was getting to the point where i had a total craving and was getting tummy cramps, so i would light a fag and have a few puffs and the craving was gone.. so i would chuck away half a fag. so i am hoping i can manage on the gum... fingers crossed.
also whats a good way not to gain any weight.. i tend not to be a picker so hopefully i won`t start......
sorry for rabbiting on.
cheers

Hi folks, just wanted to give a quick word of encouragement to all those of you trying to give up the dreaded weed. As someone who has successfully managed to stay quit for over a year with a lot of help from the people on this thread (after nearly 16yrs of smoking), I know how difficult it can be to maintain your resolve and determination. Keep reminding yourself that it will be worthwhile in the end, both financially and, more importantly, from a health perspective. I can vouch for the enormous improvements to health that results from quitting; I can now run at a fair old pace for 30mins without stopping, whereas, just after quitting, i could hardly manage a full minute! Friends and colleagues have commented upon my improved complexion and my house, clothes and car no longer stink of dank cigarette smoke!
I cannot state strongly enough that it is well worth the effort you are all making to stay quit.
Good luck!
