    Hello Stressedmum,

Welcome to the thread & glad you decided to join us :D If you've read about a bit of weight gain then dont worry too much, it's likely to happen at first but doesnt need to be a problem, just make sure you substitute your cigs for carrot sticks or fruit rather than one of Feedumall s choc brownies  & if you need to lose a bit anyway then you can just add it all together ;) .

Putting money away is a great idea, will be bound to keep you motivated & how about saving it for some fab new clothes for when you do lose some weight. Giving up smoking the best thing ever & we'll be here to support you all the way :D

    good luck hon,

What the hell is happening with me? I had that smoke last night and quit again, Woke up this morning and could cry for no apparant reason, I have felt really really depressed all day, I haven't had a smoke yet but can't handle this depression much more. Does quitting give you depression?

I think it can make you extra sensitive, more open to stress (because we use our ciggys to calm us down when we are stressed :o)

    Hi nirelandguy,

Just wanted to let you know that I've suffered with depression on my last two attempts to quit, it lasted a couple of weeks and I am now through it. I cried, I shouted and thought I was going mad and that I would rather smoke than be that person! I'm calm now and smoke free. I was feeling like I had lost a friend by quitting that saw me through good and bad times, now I just get on with it.

Keep going, I promise it will get better! x

Don't let it worry you too much nirelandguy, some of us experience great emotion, though not all of us. However, quitting is a great deal like losing a friend, the one thing you have to remember is that it was a BAD friend! Another reason for your depression could well be the microtabs. Keep taking PLENTY of water so you flush your system through. Try and get a lot more exercise to get the endorphins going, that alone will make you feel so much better and take away the depression.

Congratulations simbalou!!! :T If you can stay quit during the bedlam of summer holidays then you're cracking it for sure!!! Congratulations to you also Daz!!! :T 5 weeks is a long time so I hope you're really proud of yourself. Any more luck with your wife yet? If not she may still follow your example.... when she's ready!

A warm welcome stressed.mum and all the best for success this time round. I agree with your Doc, tackle the smoking first, though part of the therapy to quitting will also aid your weight loss as there's nothing quite like a good stamping over a couple of miles (or more) per day to rid you of any cravings AND pounds!!! As Lula says substitute your cigs for carrot sticks or fruit, or both and drink plenty of water as it's a great filler-upper! Good luck with the quitting as your kiddies will be so very proud of you!! :D Same to you with the weight problems Buttercup.x and you've got the right idea with the water and cigs. All the very best tomorrow (today!).

All the very, very best everyone and as feedumall points out, if you're at all stressed and struggling then come on here and rant to us, or simply tell us how your day is going, it helps so very much.

    Hi Everybody

Good luck to all the newbies, don't worry about the little slip ups they affect us all, just keep plugging away at it. You'll get there eventually.;)

Just dropped in to share my 2 month anniversary :D So according to Silk Quit Meter its:
Two months, 9 hours, 28 minutes and 41 seconds since I stopped. 935 cigarettes not smoked, saving £219.94. Life saved: 3 days, 5 hours, 55 minutes.

I have to say that the Silk Quit meter is a great incentive tool for me, it 'pops' up every morning to remind me how well I'm doing. I take great delight in telling anybody who's around how well I've done ;)

    Stay strong everybody

    Sorry everyone:o

But congrats to everyone who seems to be doing so well :T .

    Hello Lewki,

well, you are a bit :naughty: but that's all I'm saying because I know how tough it is to break the habit & even more so to come back here & admit to falling off the wagon, oh do I know  .

Anyway, welcome back :D well done for your achievement so far & dont you worry, you obviously really want to stop smoking & I have every faith that you WILL so just STOP buying the damn things please :p & I dont think you post that often which probably means you feel quite alone, I know very well that I wouldnt have got this far withour other giver upperers encouraging me (ok, dragging me kicking & screaming ) along the way.

    Hey Buttercup,

well done :D & great that you have support from OH also giving up (especially if he loooks funny, that should help to remind you how silly smoking looks eh ;) )

Still no sign of that naughty Waspeze  ... & summer's over now so hoping he'll zoom in any time now...

Keep going guys & remember :

You can do it, you can, you can, you can :D
