    Hola Todos :D

Got back from gorgeous sunny spain early hours of this morning & am delighted to say that after my hideous & gut wrenching tester a week ago, I am SO over the whole smoking thing :j .

Sue - I am sorry :o but I knew I'd be fine, just wanted that final experience of how vile & toxic the evil stuff is.

Saw a few people smoking on hol but just felt quite sorry for them really, I swam about 30 lengths of the pool every day & although I didnt manage to leave my excess baggage behind, I'm now ready to seriously start shifting it  .

It was so nice to come home to a fresh & clean smelling place & like Feedie (hello :D ) I'm just working my way through the washing  .

    8 weeks & 4 days now :j

    Well done to all

Well done with quitting Mons! It's music to my ears every time I see someone else say they've quit. that £30 a week you save will do wonders for your debts, your pride too! Good luck and keep strong.

You too no1girlfommars! Welcome to the thread where you can moan and rant... or boast of your success (!!!) as much as you wish, we're all here to listen, help and advise whenever possible. Jo1981 (great to see you pop in as a non smoker Jo!!!) has said it perfectly about the craving, it really does just fade away the longer you've quit for, though I think it's more a case of us forgetting me smoked! A real shame about your boyfriend, but on seeing your success he may well be tempted to follow your great example so keep em crossed! You saying about how it's like kissing him etc  makes me think back to my poor hubby and what it must have been like for him with me! :o I suppose you could always say something like "I didn't realise just how much it smelled and tasted on me until now" Be very tactful though, hopeful too. :D Good luck!

Hi again taxi! I really do hope champix works for you, though I've no real knowledge of it myself others have said it's good - successful too. I suppose you start counting days from the day you last have a ciggie, though really that's up to you, but if what others say is anything to go by, you'll soon not want one anyway so it won't be long! All the best taxi, I hope THIS is the time!;)

Hi Feedum! Congratulations on such a fantastic achievement!!! :T:T:beer::T:T It's gone so fast too. What some statistics you have there to urge you forward, food for though for all others here too. I agree about the waste of money, how could we do it!!!:o

Great to see you back again Lula and see you had a wonderful holiday. I never though you would succombe whilst you were away, not for one minute. Don't worry I wasn't mad at you as it was so obvious you'd learned the hard way, but just had to do it, at least you got the right result - spurred on too! Good to see you nearly at the 9 week mark already, you've done amazing and I'm thrilled! :T:T:j You and I are exactly the same about feeling sorry for folk who are still smoking, a sort of "they just don't realise how much better they'd feel if only they were to quit" Good on you for getting started on shifting the lbs!!!

Well done everyone, keep going and staying strong....... you WILL do it. :D

I have now been quit 1 year and 8 months, for anyone interested
go to silkquit.org and download their programme which gives you an update of what you would have smoked, how long you have been quit, and how much you have saved.. you'll be amazed at the stats! and its an incentive when you see it in cold hard figures.
in the time I have quit, I have saved.. £1,788 would have smoked..9179 cigs ( urgh)
Good luck to anyone trying to quit, its the hardest thing to do.. but by god its the best thing I ever did!
Don't try and go cold turkey, there are so many NRT products out there, the patches are good to help with the cravings, the lozenges are awful, they burn your throat, the gum can give you horrible mouth ulcers, but useful if you have a sudden crave.. Top tip.. if you feel a crave coming on keep carrots in the fridge.. the bigger the better ..LOL! by the time you have tried to munch through that, its passed.
http://www.silkquit.org/stop-smoking/quit-meter.aspx .. thats really good to have it running on your pc each day as an incentive. :)

    Many, many congratulations Lula!!!!!! :j:T:j

I couldn't be more happy for you as I know just how much you wanted to quit and now here you are...... 2 months away from all that muck and rubbish!! You have a new life now, sweet smelling and soooooo very happy and proud of your accomplishment. Very well done indeed!!!

Not seen waspeze for a good while, but who knows, now we've both mentioned it.... Fingers crossed anyway.

    Sue

Congratulations to you also Kate!!! :T Your tip about the carrots is a good one and going well here, celery and apples along with plenty of water too. Thanks for the tip about the silkquit, some of the peeps here have it, but for all those who don't it's great to have the link here ready to go to. Any tips are all so vital to those who are quitting, thanks again for your help.

Keep going everyone, each new day is a day closer to staying free of it and getting your health - and pounds back!!! :D

    4 weeks for me today.

Keep going chaps! Every day that passes, the concept of smoking becomes more alien and it becomes concurrently less likely that I will ever smoke again.

Although I do have the occasional "I'd like a fag" moments, they arent nearly strong enough to seriously bother me (although they are an irritation), and they certainly arent strong enough to make me want to be a smoker again!

Smokers! What pitiful and desperate creatures they are. I cant beleive I subjected myself to that life for 17 years.
