Kandipandi wrote: »Hi olks its 7 weeks for me now and im Really Struggling!!!! Been telling myself why not just smoke and keep it low, got all my change ready for the shop this morning to buy some but managed to drive past the shop (was hard). I finished the patches and i know its all out of my system now its just the mental craving thing, but isn't it hard. I cant justify scrimping and saving cutting coupons out and trapsing about for whoopsies and adding lentils to mince to make it last another meal if i am buying fags and thats the only thing that stopped me this morning. I know all the benefits and i do feel better and (smell better). Its crazy I have £26 quid left till next Thursday when i get paid and i was contemplating starting smoking! Arghhh, just wanted to vent its so worth it to stop but its so hard too. Poor me
x
Hi Kandipandi, I really do hope that giving vent DID help and that you stayed true to keeping off the evils of smoking. You'd really hate yourself if you succumbed and went back after all the time you've resisted for. What a waste it would all have been! Yes, you realise that it's simply your head that's being messed with here, BUT that if you just push on you'll get past this and be that chuffed at all your success that you've achieved ........so far. Get over this blip and you'll soon be at the 2 month stage!!!!:j
It's amazing how we almost convince ourselves that IF we did go back we could keep it to only a few a day or week - BUT - as we also know, it never stays like that and all your efforts would be gone and you'd need to start over again IF you were able to regain the strength and courage to do so! Grab a hold of both now and pull yourself through, don't listen to your head, look within and feel the far better health you've attained ..........and ALL the money saved!!! :j Go on Kandipandi you CAN do it and more than that ......you WILL succeed!!!
All the best and keep it up!
Sue
Hiya Jemima2907 and a warm welcome aboard!Well done in quitting and a great idea to keep it to yourself as it spurs you on I'm sure. We've had one quitter who didn't tell her family until the first month was over! I wonder if your BF will notice before that. You definately sound very happy and extremely positive, so all the very best for your continued happiness to quit.
Please keep telling us how you're going ...and yes, we always need support for all other quitters, helping others alone helps you to help yourselves, so by all means do so!
Well done!

Hello everyone,
I thought i would give a quick update. Well 11pm Sunday night i had my last smoke, and feeling alright. I keep waiting for this wanting needing desire to have a fag, but is hasnt?? These patches have done wonders, usually i panic and get palpatations just thinking about having a fag when i did smoke, and so far i havent even really thought about it, is this it?? Or is it going to hit me soon??? Hubby gave up then too, is finding it harder and has had 3 ciggies in the last 2 days, saw the nurse yesterday and she has increased the dose of the patch, so see how he feels today on the new patch x x0 -

Thanks so much - you are a guiding light! I did not give in you have helped me to become more determined. I consider myself to be an intelligent woman and as such i cant justify smoking, it has no positives at all! I think i might give that Alan Carr book a go that David mentioned just to boost my chances! Thanks for the help and support xxxYou can stand there and agonize........

Hi everyone,
Well done to all you quitters new & old
Kandi - thank goodness you didnt give in, that's the power of sueuushe's fab at making you see sense.
gosh you would have been so miffed if you got that far & then crumbled.
I've got workmen all over my place at the moment & yesterday they went out & sat on the wall for a smoke break & for some bizarre reason I nearly went to scrounge one  but then remembered that I dont do that anymore.
sometimes there's no craving just previous learned behaviour leaps out of nowhere & surprises you .
I used to do those calculations where you try & justify adding cigs to the budget :rotfl: how silly I was
Keep it up everyone

Thanks for your kind words Sue, Im on day 2 now and finding it really hard. I never used to drink coffee but i've had 5 cups today. I know it's just moving one addiction over to another but over the years I've always enjoyed a cup of coffee once or twice a month so never really found it addictive so hopefully Im thinking that after the physical craving for the Nicotine goes away within the next couple of days, i can go back to my moderate coffee drinking as before.struggling to be debt free.....0

I was talking to a colleague of mine this morning and he is 65 - he quit smoking over 15 years ago and he said when someone lights up he could still fancy one! Mad isn't it?
You guys are great thanks again xYou can stand there and agonize........

Well done on quitting! I have done the same as you but with tea! My DH still smokes (fool!) and every time he goes for one i have a cuppa. My milk consumption has shot up but i dont suppose i'll die of too much tea. Keep going jem :j
