    Hail & welcome dixie06 :D

You've just joined the best thread going & will find loads of support, sympathy & encouragement here - especially from sueuu who can give brilliant advice on absolutely anything to do with giving up smoking.

In 5 minutes I will have done 7 weeks :j & it's the best thing I ever did - I so know what you mean about the cashpoint thing  got me every time :o .

If you've read back a bit you'll find out that I had a few issues with weight gain but it was only 7 lbs & because I was eating far too many cakes, bread etc :o & it's now starting to come off again :D. It's perfectly normal But is usually only temporary while your body adjusts to it's new natural mebolic rate so dont panic OR use that as an excuse to not go ahead.

Wishing you lots of luck & determination

.....and if that isn't incentive for dixie or anyone else to chuck the weed, Lula then I don't know what is! I'm chuffed to bits that you've come so far, you really do deserve praise and I know you are so very proud of your success and rightly so. All that you've said about the weight gain is true so I hope that'll make dixie feel much better with that knowledge alone. I'm sure that's the problem with many young lasses, they won't try quitting as they're afraid of ballooning out, but if folk are sensible about what they replace cravings with then all will be well in a short tims, with plenty of exercise ....which takes the cravings away too. A win win situation eh Lula! All the best you WILL do it!!! :T

What is the best way to quit smoking? I am spending 90 bucks a carton on smokes almost twice a week. Its nuts. I need help.

As shadydaz says, you have to want to quit. I know it sounds obvious, but most people try and quit still wanting to smoke.

You need to have a good hard think and really decide what it is you want to do. The choice is obvious, but you have to have it straight in your mind first.

I really struggled with this aspect until I read Allen Carr's book - Easyway to Stop Smoking.

I just cant praise it highly enough - I have been nicotine free for 15 days now and have enjoyed quitting! Every day I wake up and thank the stars that I not a smoker anymore.

  • thanks lula and sue, any one seen mfd she is about a month behind me, hope she hasn't fell off the wagon!

 Wash your mouth out AB

5 months for me on Saturday...can't imagine ever going back to it now.

I'm still here...albeit a little pre-occupied with My Fathers Grandchild on the way ;):D

At least I don't have to worry about giving up the fags along with all the other stuff I have had to forgo for the sake of bubba! (missing the cheese and peddy mostly - only 6 months to go  )

Keep it up guys - it will honestly be the best thing you could ever do.

  • Really admire what you are doing. Smoking is one of the hardest but most rewarding things to give up. Good on the bank balance and better on your health.

    Good Luck with it.:T

  • Hi i'm new, gave up smoking 6 days ago after smoking 20 a day for 27 years. I have not had any since and don't even feel that i want one. I have tried so many times in the past but failed, this time i'm taking Champix and i think they are brilliant.I found this and thought i would share it, it tells you how much money you are saving and how much of your life your saving and more. :)
