Great news Red, you've really done so very well! :T Don't worry too much about the 'oooo could just fancy a tab' moments, a lot of it is your mind playing tricks on you after having come so far. Keep on strengthening your resolve and remind yourself of the money saved and .....most of all ...the far better health you now have! Whenever those moments hit, drink a glass of water and it'll hit the spot, then concentrate your mind on anything beautiful. After this time you'll find you'll settle back again and it'll be less tormenting. Keep it up!

Hi mm244 and welcome aboard! Congratulations for taking that step again and this time with all the info you have at hand along with the savings you need to make and the great health to regain, you should well be on your way to quitting for good! I sincerely hope so, so the very best of luck. Keep us informed about your progress as well as ranting at us here if things get a little sticky. All best wishes!

Well done Bf109, that first week is a great milestone so you're doing just great! Keep as strong as you're sounding!

I'm not too well up on Champix Pip, but over the months I've heard several others here say it's made them feel sick. I don't recall anyone saying about them tasting stronger, though I think it's quite possible that they could do. For now (until someone else who's used it hopefully comes on to advise you), try drinking plenty of water with it, I'm not saying it will help, but feel it may be worth the try. How about going to your Dr and asking him/her, they'll probably have had plenty of feedback about them. You could also ask a Pharmacist as they also be very likely to hear about the effects of them too. I don't think it has anything to do with you hating yourself for smoking though. Good luck!

...and good luck to everyone, you too Lula, you're doing just GREAT!!!:D

    Hi Guys.

I have popped back to give an update....:D

Firstly many thanks to those that have offered support in response to my first post, much appreciated :)

Update then?? I had my two week anniversary yesterday, which i found to be a bit of a tougher phsycological barrier than i anticipated but got through it fine:T

Still Cold Turkey, no help and no sniff of a relapse, i guess not really being around the smell is helping me a great deal.

I feel great, my throat is drying a bit so anticapting a clear out from the chest region soon, especially as i can take much deeper breathes already...

Goods news too, my wife is also on the wagon, although she is finding it tougher than me i think, all credit to her for trying, muah honey.

I have also given up kebabs and Mcd's too in a bit of an effort to save more cash. :rotfl:

    Savings from smoking: £20ish

Anticpated monthly savings from smoking and take aways= £100 ish a month:eek: really that much lol:p

I am only really starting to some appetite now, after two weeks so should be eating a lot more healthy food and may actually put some weight on and get near to the weight i should be

Good Luck everyone and keep going...

Think of it as £1,200 a year rather - dont know how much you earn, but thats a good 13th pay-cheque to someone on £20k a year. And for what? for nothing! free money! all you have to do is not poison yourself!

NOW - Add in the interest you could accumulate on that money......... Then add inflation of around 5% per annum for every year that you would have smoked if you hadnt stopped............... Over the course of 30 years (a smoking lifetime!) that adds up to well over £200,000!

    Hi Pip
    I started with them...
I cut right down then quit altogether after 2 weeks of being on them...
then continued to take them for another 4 weeks until I no longer needed them...
it's stop's you wanting one someone actually lit up in front of me yesterday and it didn't bother me at all...I thought...silly cow for smoking...but that was me once...I finally stopped on 29th May and haven't had one since...
those tablets aren't designed to make you stop...
they make you want one less...
so that one morning you'll wake up and think sod it I don't want one...
what I also did as well was brush my teeth and tongue and wash up my nose as well before I went to bed...
I kicked the habit after 25 years of 40 aday...so can you...
good luck and if you need any more support pm me ok...
    Ice...

Hello everyone & congratulations to all on their journey.

Sorry I didnt get back to you last night mm - but wishing you the very best for your new life. Sounds like you're fully stocked ;) & as long as you keep your determination & will power topped up by being proud of every single hour then day, then week that you repel the evil nicotina, you'll win :D

Thanks Sueuu for your ever watchful eye & support, I've now gone over 6 weeks & I just get more thrilled each time I count up how long it's been :j.

Got to be honest & say that I still occasionally get a pang of 'something missing' like when out socialising last saturday night although no one else was smoking  . Then I realised what was missing & was immediatley fine because I remembered that I dont smoke & that it would taste/smell/feel vile

I've done some fab things in my life but this quitting thing is the best yet :D

Well done you Lula!!!!! :T You've been amazing all through it and your last sentence mirrors my exact feelings! I also still occasionally get those very short 'missing something' feelings, but, just like you, soon realise just what it is and feel so elated that it's all long behind me. Maybe it's a jolt to remind us of just what a terrific achievement we fulfilled. Whatever it is, it's fantastic!:D

Great news DAZ. :T It's so good when folk come back to tell their success stories as it gives others something great to aspire to and let's them hold onto the fact that they too CAN do it! Wonderful news of your wife too! I do hope she battles on and succeeds along with you. Look at the savings you've made ...so far! As Bf109 points out, over a year (or 30!) it's a heck of a lot!!! Your health is worth so much though and you're changing that all around in such a GREAT way!!! Keep going strong Daz, we all wish you BOTH the very best! :D Good going for both Ice and Bf109, you're achieving great health too!! Keep up that strength!!

So maybe this is the time you'll achieve great success mm244, I know we'll all be routing for you and wishing you all the good health and wonderful feelings that quitting brings us. You CAN do it, just keep strong and how about saving all the money you'd normally spend, that will be a great incentive.

All the VERY best...and to all as well!
