The Giving Up Smoking Thread!!

I never though stopping smoking could be so much fun!
- My lungs are clearer and I breathe easier
- I am more confident as I'm not having to compensate for being a smoker
- I have regained so much dignity and self-respect
- I can concentrate much better
- I have so much more energy
- I am so much more serene now I'm not poisoning myself with that flithy insect-repellant stimulant
how I used to be all those years ago,
before I though it was a good idea to spend money on dried shredded leaves wrapped in paper, stick them in my mouth, set light to them and breathe in the flith.
I'm almost me again. I'm so happy!:j:T[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Rise like Lions after slumber

Evening all,
5 weeks & 2 days for me now :j. Weird I actually had to check how long on the calendar, guess that's a good sign.
Waspeze - glad you're still about even if it is just lurking quietly in a corner with a rollie. I'm not going to lecture you as I know too well that when you fall off the wagon, sometimes it's best just to step back for a bit then when ready start all over again. That's what I had to do & so far it's worked
.
Anyway, when you're ready, we'll be here for you ...
Well done everyone

That's the way to do it lita, just don't give up quitting, jump straight back in that circle. You'll get there - in time and with patience. All the best.

Don't fret about it too much Waspeze, your quitting time will come again. Lula's right with all she says and you'll just know when the time is right again. Good luck with it, though the very fact that you're still around on the thread is so promising!:D It'll happen for you I'm sure!
Many congratulations myleta253 and Bf109 on such amazing achievements, you've both (and hubby myleta) done fantasticly well and have so very much to be proud of!!!:T I get times when I still like the smell of cigarettes, then I get a whiff of it another day and detest the stuff, must be the brain I suppose or maybe I'm odd!Don't answer that anyone please!;) I have to agree with all your points Bf109 and the memory is far better now, and cleanliness inside and out is unbelievable. Smelly fingers are another thing I used to abhor! What a relief never having to worry about that. :A
Lula you are doing so very well, but I still find it hard to believe it really is THAT long already, bet you do too at times! Fantastic Lula, you're doing GREAT!!:D
All the best to EVERYONE, keep quitting and being kind to yourself as well as praising yourselves up for the greatest and healthiest journey you've ever made!

Hi lita - can I recommend you read Allen Carr's book. (Promise I dont work for them!).
You should be able to pick up a 2nd hand copy at your local charity shops or on ebay/amazon for a few pounds only.
If you had told me before I started reading that book that I could go cold turkey and enjoy it, I would have said you were barking mad. But its true! It can be like that!
It doesnt work for everyone but why no give it a go. You've nothing to lose and so much to gain.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Rise like Lions after slumber

I'd recommend Allen Carr to you also! I didnt want to stop but knew I had to so I bought his book - £2 second hand from the charity shop.
This is now day 4. Have gone from 30-60 a day to nothing just like that! no NRT, and I can hand-on-heart say that I'm loving it![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Rise like Lions after slumber

Never read Alan Carr but too be honest I think it'll be Champix next time for me again ... gave up from 29th March til beginning of July on them and was doing great.. just got a bit complacent, went away with some friends and something happened that just started me off again
I WILL BE BACK HERE AS A FULLY FLEDGED MEMBER AGAIN IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE:beer:
Thanks Lula and Sue for your kind words
*crawls back to the smelly corner:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -

Excellent! Dont worry about speed-reading it. I think he says its better if you take your time to digest inwardly what he says and then re-work the logic in your own words... I took over 10 days to read it and its only 120-odd pages.
My sister - who was as big a smoker as me - has now been off the weed for 5 weeks thanks to Allen, God rest his soul. :j
He does come across as a patronizing old c**t at first but remember he used to smoke 100 a day! for over 30 years! Give him some time, you know that everything he says is true anyway.
Good luck![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Rise like Lions after slumber
